We were hit by the October snow storm that made us loose power for 5+ days, powerlines down, trees down, half down, etc. I needed a good number of trees to remove and I began looking for a and quot;tree-guyand quot; to come over anf give me an estimate. Half never even showed up, of the half that did they were quoting crazy prices and couldn't give me a date to do the work , or....never called me back. Well, I always thought Northern Tree was sexpensive, I see their trucks all over, they have all the big trucks and tools, so I never bothered to call them Then I got frustrated.
I called Northern Tree, the guy came out for an estimate (on time), I did the walk-through, he asked me questions, he explained how they bring equipment that does notdig up the yard. He explained that they would bring a crane to remove 3 trres over a fence...I thought, this is going to be expensive.
He got in his car, had a tablet, printed out the quote and brought it right back. He was almost the lowest and I knew exactly what I was going to get. He said 2 weeks. Done.
To the day, their equipment was at my house, naturally they called in advance, theydid the work, NO grass damage because they put down these specially made mats down. They were polite, professional, went right to work.
I was so impressed when they left, after the project was done (on-time). I should have called them for all of my previous tree work instead of the slugs I did hire who dug up my yard to make it easier on them.
Northern Tree is like having the Army Corp of Engineers come over and do work at a reasonable price.
Don' hesitate to call these guys from Palmer up and give you a quote. You won't be disappointed.
I contacted them again about 3 weeks after the initial quote to see if the price was still accurate and if they could still do it. I spoke with Brady, the arborist who had done the quote, and he told me to sign the proposal and send it back in. This was a Monday, so I faxed it over the next day. I heard nothing for 3 days. To make sure he had received the propsal at all, I called on Thursday and left a message to confirm the receipt of the proposal and the date he would be coming. Still no call back.
I called again on the following Tuesday, AGAIN, to confirm they had received the proposal and were planning on doing the work. This time I called and left a message with the main number, since I had waited to call until after hours, on the off chance I was actually going to get a phone call that day. Early the next day, the woman who seems to monitor the main number, Kathy I think her name was, called me back to confirm some of my information. She told me she'd call Brady and find out what was going on. A few hours later, she called me back again and said they were planning on doing it in 1 week, on Wednesday. I was kind of impressed that she had called me back so quickly, and managed to answer all my questions, in a matter of hours.
Wednesday rolled around, and since I hadn't heard anything since the week before, I assumed everything was all set. So you can imagine my surprise, when I returned home from work that day and saw my tree still standing. No phone call, no message, NOTHING to explain to me what had happened. So I left a rather rude message on the main number (since calling that had worked before), and asked if anyone was EVER planning on coming out to remove this tree.
Kathy called me back early the next day, again to confirm my information (I hadn't left very much of it in the message), and promised to find out what was going on. She called back very shortly and said they were planning on getting my tree done today. Great, because I was ready for this to be done. Around 3 or so, Brady calls me to let me know they started the work, but won't be able to complete it until tomorrow. FINALLY, some communication. I said that was fine. I got home, and some work had been done, but it was left everywhere. There were brances covering my hard, trash everywhere, and a rope still hanging from the tree. It's a good thing I don't have kids who would have loved to swing off of it.......
The next day Brady called again, and said that due to the thunderstorms in the area, he felt it wasn't safe to complete the work today. I could agree with him on that, we'd had severe thunderstorm watches all day. Although I couldn't help but think that if they had started on Wednesday when they said they would, they would have finished yesterday and avoided the storms altogether. But then he told me it was looking like they couldn't get back out to my property until next week, probably Wednesday at the earliest. Fantastic. So I have to deal with large branches and ropes for almost another week?? I told him that was fine; I was too tired to deal with it anymore.
Later that afternoon, he called back again and said they had done some shuffling and would be able to get back to my property on Monday instead. I told him that was great, even though in the back of my mind, I thought that's what should have been done to begin with.
So Monday comes, and THANK GOD, my tree is taken down. I was even impressed that the logs had been removed - we were initially told it would take a few days to schedule a pickup. Juuuust when I thought we were good, I went over to look at the work, and realized the stump was still there. Again, are they coming back? Do they know we wanted stump grinding? What's going on??? I waited until around 5 the next day, confimed with my husband that yes, the stump was still there, and called again. Apparently I called within working hours, because I talked with Kathy again and asked when the stump would be done. She called Brady and then called me, and told me he was actually on his way over to our property right now. Great. By the time I got home that night, everything was done. Finally.
I cannot complain about the work itself - they did what they said they would. I just wish it had been done when they said it would, and CALLED me when things didn't go as planned.
