When the gas utility (Nat'l Grid) technicians were so poorly trained that they could not restart an older boiler system after swapping the gas meter, they called in HomeServe to do it. Homeserve technicians then damaged the system, creating a hazardous situation, resulting in small gas explosions inside the boiler, and excess CO emission. The boiler had to be shut down, and my tenant had no heat in winter in New England. I called numerous heating contractors, and Stephen Devaney was the first to respond. He met me at the building within an hour of our call, and immediately diagnosed what was wrong. He spent a few hours repairing and readjusting the system, and all the problems were resolved. He charged a very reasonable fee, especially considering it was an emergency call on a weekend. I would not hesitate to rehire him if needed, and recommend him highly.

I have no problem with them. I like them. I need to call them to do the furnace. I haven't done that either. Their oil isn't too bad for me. They have a budget plan that is very convenient. I've talked to their people on the phone and they are A. Their work is pretty good and one should give them a shot. I know that when I call, they are there for me.

The price is higher than some other providers, but I remain a customer because of the free burner service contract for another year.The responsiveness to the burner issues was good, but the quality depended on a technician being on call on that day. For instance, we had oil leaking situation, which was fixed on the fifth attempt. I have nothing, but respect to their customer service folks though. They always are ready to address your questions or concerns.

They were a little pricey, but they are very good. They were there for 3 days. There was a lot of work. There were a few communication issues and we had to wait a little, but it was a big job. I will use them again in the future.

I am looking at other companies because I think Devaney's price is too high. They are nice, pleasant, responsive, and do good service but their price is way too much. I have heard from other people that they are one of the highest priced companies.

They were our oil company until a service "tune-up" caused our furnace to consume 3/4's of a tank of oil over the summer!!!! When confronted, they took no ownership of the mistake made by their tech

Prior owners of house had enormous oversized ugly vents from furnace into basement area and some ductwork hung much lower than other parts in the ceiling. Devaney consultant evaluated all the ductwork as it was, calculated requirement for air flow to all parts of basement and confirmed much more streamlined approach was possible. Provided quote in 24 hrs and they gave us scheduled slot for the work for 2 weeks out. Workman came on time and the work took exactly as long as the quote said it would take. Result was 3 much smaller and better placed vents and less ductwork jammed into furnace area. Rework of ceiling ducts and new ceiling vent improved air flow to one end of room and provided a much nicer continuous height ceiling. Price seemed reasonable for everything they did. Very pleasant company to work with. They also provided some off the cuff timely advice about what to factor in should we ever want to install AC. Based on that we were able to get some advance electrical work done in a more efficient and cost effective manner.

They originally installed my new furnace a few years ago and now take care of the maintenance for me. I have had a few problems with it, but they have always responded promptly. They do a thorough tune-up and make sure it is running well.

This job turned out to be bigger than we originally thought. We planned to replace the toilet, which had a cracked base, and the flange, which we though was responsible for the leak. After the toilet was removed they found that the problem was a finger sized hole in the sewer pipe which had corroded through, been patched, and corroded through again. Rather than try to repatch it we decided to remove the entire section and replace it with new pipe. After considerable effort, they got the new plumbing in place. When they went to install the new toilet they found that, at some point, new flooring had been installed in the bathroom. That renovation had not extended below toilet. As a result, they first had to patch the floor, and then install the toilet. All in all, the job took twice as long as expected (we though it would be done in a morning, instead it took a full, long, day) and cost twice as much. All things considered it was money well spent.
