In this instance, they immediately made time available to quickly diagnose and fix a leaky tire and quickly got me back on the road.
I have been using Jim's for years and have had work done ranging from front end, to engine, to exhaust, brakes and emission repairs as well as regular maintenance of several vehicles. I've even found that it is a better deal to buy my tires through them.
I'm very happy with their customer service and their skilled and reasonably priced work.
"Jim’s Automotive Center's center first and foremost seeks customer satisfaction and our establishment stands for a solid mission: honest, truthfulness, hardwork, integrity, and consistent product. Jim's Automotive Center has made in total six attempts to seek resolution on this complaint. Two telephone conversations have been initiated: one with the customer and one with the customer's son's girlfriend. We would like to clarify that the car belongs to the customer, but was being driven by the customer's son's girlfriend the evening of the accident and most interactions have occurred between Jim's Automotive staff and the customer's son's girlfriend. Finally, three additional phone calls have been made, with no response from customer. In addition, a written response was issued to customer seeking resolution. It was mailed certified letter and receipt rejected by the customer. By way of factual background, the customer's vehicle was towed to our place of business on Sunday, December 22, 2013. This is not uncommon although we are not open for business on Sundays. The vehicle had suffered substantial mechanical, but primarily body damage as a result of a motor vehicle accident. Jim’s Automotive is not an autobody shop and the customer was aware that no body work was going to be performed on the vehicle. The vehicle itself was not actually entered into our repair system until December 31, 2013, in large part because it was unclear what work the customer would authorize to be done and could afford. The customer had indicated that the vehicle was uninsured for accident damage. The customer was aware that no body work was going to be completed, although the vehicle did require some mechanical repair just the same to be drivable. The actual mechanical repair work was authorized by the customer on January 7, 2014 and the work was completed on January 10, 2014. As indicated, all of the mechanical work was necessary to make the vehicle capable of being driven but did not constitute a repair of the body of the vehicle or any other items that would subsequently need to be addressed. The vehicle was picked up at our business by the customer's son's girlfriend on January 10, 2014. She was aware that we were still awaiting a hood latch. She was insistent on taking the vehicle just the same, so the hood was temporarily secured so she could use the car for local driving over the weekend, in order to assist her. The vehicle was to be returned by the customer the following Monday for the hood latch, which appointment she did not keep. Jim's Automotive Center was willing to seek resolution regarding this matter in efforts to offset the customer's expenses and as a valued member of Angie’s List. Unfortunately, the customer has not been responsive to our outreach."
and have him determine what the problem was. He said to bring it in. As I needed the car later that same day, I told him that if he couldn't fix it that day I could bring it back another day. A couple of hours later he called and told me what the problem was. He also said that he had the parts on hand and could have it fixed in time for me to use it later that same day.
Whenever I have to use the Audi dealer for service I need to make an appointment weeks in advance. It's great to have an honest, capable mechanic like Jim who is so responsive to his customers' needs. I have recommended Jim to dozens of friends and none have ever been disappointed.
Was told to wait until next oil change for brakes.
Car did not start so they replaced the battery. (we had had an issue the night before, AAA jumped the car but told us the battery was OK, It would not start again in the AM)
When I dropped it off, the parking lot was full to capacity. I guessed that it would be a while before they would be able to look at it, let alone fix it.
I received a call the next morning and was told that they were working on the bearing, but found the axle needed replacement and the ABS tone ring (ABS warning light was on when I dropped it off). They told me that it would only be another $101 for the work.
Expected the wheel bearing alone to be about $300. The bearing, axle and tone ring cost $365 and was ready the next morning. Car runs and sounds great.
It's a 20 minute drive for me, but I am happy to make the trip for a responsible, reliable mechanic.
If you are looking for a new mechanic, I would strongly recommend that you try them out.
Angie's list did it again! Thanks to both!
I took it into Jim's and they looked at it first thing in the morning for me and told me what they thought it was. I had to drop it off the next day for the repairs but they were very pleasant and dummed it down for me to understand. When i brought it back, they finished it within the day and I picked it up and it was fine.
I did notice that the blowers for the heat/ac stopped working within the vehicle. I called them back to ask if they knew and they said just bring it by and they would take a look. I meant to say that I would bring it by in a couple days when I had the time to and within an hour they called me back wondering where I was so they could take a look. I was very impressed they would do that.
I brought it back a few days later and dropped it off. They called me later in the day and said that it was all set and just pick it up. no charge, a fan was just stuck.
The mechanic who did the job was very nice and explained what happened clearly.
You can tell that they are not trying to do unecessary repairs, they tell you things straight , it was a costly repair but i know they stand behind their work.
