I give Jim good marks for the standard work done. The plumbing, electrical, carpentry, tile and plaster work were done well. The few problems in this area were corrected quickly when pointed out (eg plumbing leak). The work took six months but his staff was working most days and there was very little delay waiting for subcontractors. They did do a poor job replacing insulation removed in the basement ceiling and attic, which I corrected myself.

I'm less pleased with the custom work and work based on the architects drawings. Custom bathroom vanity cabinets that were supposed to be Maple or similar were a poor quality wood, probably pine. Jim had the stain darkened and it looks better but is obviously not a high grade wood. Some of the brackets, hinges and handles on bathroom fixtures did not follow the architect's specs exactly.

I asked for 2 1/2" recessed light and got 4". I didn't ask him to replace these lights since the new ceiling was put in before I knew the true size.

I'll still use Jim again, if I don't have any architectural quality work to be done. Jim is personable and knows his business. 

WE WOULD USE JIM AGAIN. HAVING SAID THAT, THERE WERE PROBLEMS. THE PROJECT TOOK 2 MONTHS LONGER THAN NEEDED BECAUSE, AT THE END, HE ONLY HAD A SINGLE PERSON WORKING ON IT, IT COULD HAVE BEEN DONE SOONER. JIM IS VERY PROFESSIONAL, MANAGED ALL OF THE TRADES, AND GAVE US A BEAUTIFUL SPACE. I THINK IT IS WORTH HAVING SOMEONE WHO MAY TAKE A LITTLE LONGER, BUT WHO IS RESPONSIVE, AND WILLING TO CREATE THE SPACE YOU WANT.
