Started off alright. But the more time that went by, the worse it got. What should have been a standard installation of cabinetry went very wrong. Doug would blame the cabinet maker, the showroom it was purchased from, you-name-it. Anything not to take responsibility for installing without following manufacturers directions, or looking at building plans. Resulting in damaged cabinets, extra expense, cracked doors (from using his own screws, not the ones provided with the cabinets). He got a reputation during the job as someone who would be constantly calling out problems, but rarely suggesting any solutions. At one point about 80% through the job, Doug simply stopped returning my calls (I counted 8 un-returned calls, and 5 emails before I had to give up).I ended up having to spend money out of my own pocket to have appliance installers come in to fix his installation. I also had to hire another contractor to come in to complete the job (filling in nail holes, attaching a few doors, adjusting appliance panels, leveling and re-fitting cabinets because Doug simply stopped returning my calls (I counted 8 un-returned calls, and 5 emails before I had to give up). I have worked with many excellent contractors and installers over the years, and I should have known better than to have him paid in full before the job was completed. He took the money and ran, and I had to spend close to $2,000 of my own money to have the job completed. He simply disappeared. Very unprofessional. The least he could have done was face the music, sit down with me to go over the reasons he was abandoning the job. Instead, he just vanished...
