Lucky Gorilla Computer Services
About us
In early 2003, Rick Fulton had a problem with one of his home PCs and needed to find an expert to help him fix it. After extensively searching in the local telephone book and the web, it looked like he had found a place to do the work. He unplugged all those wires…printers, modems, and iPods – then carried the PC down the steps out to his car and set off to find the repair shop. After getting lost, he eventually found the repair shop. He lugged the computer through the narrow door and dropped it on the front counter. The “helpful” teenager at the counter told Rick he would call in a few days. A week later he was told the hard drive was damaged and the PC would be fixed in 4 days. Four days later, he went to pick-up the PC and found the door was locked and the business closed due to a death in the family. Two weeks later he finally got his computer back along with an outrageous repair bill. There had to be a better way! Over the next 2 or 3 months, Rick thought about how frustrating his recent experience with computer repair shops had been and decided to do something about it. There was, however, a big problem – he didn’t know the first thing about fixing a computer! Rick’s expertise was in marketing, sales, and running profitable companies. So now what? He spent the next year talking to anyone who would give him 5 minutes about the computer repair industry. After hundreds of telephone calls, countless hours of research, and numerous in-person interviews… it became very clear. Being able to fix a computer was not the problem! In fact, there were plenty of “computer repair entrepreneurs” trying to make a living at fixing computers who were miserable failures. The problem wasn’t whether they could fix a computer. The problem was they couldn’t find enough customers on a continuous basis to make their business work for them. And the very few who could find enough customers got buried under the operational logistics of a managing a computer repair business. A business was born! Rick created a system by which a person with intelligence and drive could successfully develop and grow a computer service business and he began to Franchise it under the Lucky Gorilla trademark. The Leger family of the Worcester area purchased one of the first Lucky Gorilla franchises in 2007 and grew it into the large, regional, on-site computer services company that it is today. And now with the Capital infusion and industry experience of the owners, the goal of Lucky Gorilla is to expand the geographical reach and breadth of its computer-related services to customers in need throughout the state of Massachusetts. The Mantra is simple: Fast & friendly service Competitive pricing Expert technicians From all of our Team here at Lucky Gorilla Computer Services, we look forward to servicing your technology needs. I had a techie come out from Boston and he, with considerable difficulty, moved the three sets in code back to where they belonged. The blocked, helter-skelter version of all of my files could not be completely sorted out and is probably responsible for the ongoing problems that I am having with my files. I am in the final phase of a project that I spent several years researching in Germany and Austria and find myself continually struggling with duplicates or more copies of my files popping up, sometimes exact duplicates but sometimes an earlier version. Other files get lost in the depths of my computer and have to be recovered. Attempts at deleting or moving these wayward files has impacted the rest of my files and as a result a complete overhall of my filing system is not an option.
I recently tried to reorganize many of my files, an effort that has exacerbated this duplication problem.
When I bought the WD Passport someone in their office walked me through the inner workings of this external drive. On that occasion she said that she had never seen such a beautifully organized computer.
Which was the result of many years of work at my computer. It is a problem that can not now be corrected.
Ray of Lucky Gorilla completely destroyed the structure of my files. It is also worth noting that he did not know that the transfer of data to the external drive was automatic, and seemed reluctant to believe this until I showed him the manual.
"The customer previously attempted to accuse our company of data loss a couple of months ago. We have sent our best technicians on filed, Jay Elfman and Ray Baldez to try to fix his problem which was out of scope. First time the customer called about his issue, as far as we know WD passport back up software normally encrypts its data and prevent data theft and it works 100% of the time, the way his passport was set up when tech (Ray Baldez) arrived on site was not to back up properly, so he set up the way it should been. If there was a way of possible losing data tech wouldn't have done it and instead ind an alternative solution. We strongly believe he does not understand how back up work on WD and it has led to this outcome."
"Hi (member name removed), my name is Jay Elfman, owner of Lucky Gorilla. I am very sorry you had such a disappointing experience with our company last spring. We had a technician that caused us a great deal of grief during this time period, but that has long since been resolved. Should you require any technical help in the future, I would like to offer you the first half hour free of charge and I would promise to visit you personally to get the job done. Again, I apologize for your past frustration with us."
The second part of the review is about the staff at the office. The first time I set up an appt, no one showed up. I called back and the person on the phone rescheduled the appt for the next day. However, she did not tell the technician about this appt, and he did not show up. Finally he called me himself to apologize and scheduled a Sunday AM visit, which he kept and was very prompt about. I think the and quot;officeand quot; staff needs a lot of work at this company.
They sent a technician out who ran a diagnostic, removed unneeded programs and restructured the boot. Unfortunately, the fix did not stick and problems resurfaced a few days later. Luck Gorilla then sent a second technician out, at no cost, who checked the hardware (it was fine), did a deeper troubleshoot and repair (including digging out residual traces of old virus protection software I had uninstalled that was fighting with my current one). The system has been working as good as new ever since.
I would use them again.
