We hired 2 different companies to give us an idea of what to do. Both agreed the system was not installed correctly
We ended up having to pay another company $3005.00 to remove completely and install ductwork with major modifications.
We sent the owner Eric Michael Chaffee a registered letter explaining the cost to fix his work that he did not fulfill the warrantee, and attempts by the Post Office went unsigned for.
When we ended the summer the house was cool and attic insulation no longer flowing through the ducts to coat us inside.
We were concerned about how the basement would be left imagining what kind of sludge would come out of the pipes as they were removed. Assured Service did an excellent job cleaning the basement floor, with no residue left behind.
The workers were pleasant and professional and this project I was concerned about happened more smoothly than I could have hoped.
While Assured Service was at the house they noticed a natural gas pipe that had started to rust (!!) and replaced it the same day.
I would certainly call them again for plumbing work.
On another service visit, they also replaced my back flow preventer, they used a unit that was clearly less quality and inappropriate for the installation (below grade installation with a unit only certified for above grade). It was obvious they used the wrong unit, because they removed the higher end one. To their credit, they did replace it later without cost or complaint - just should have been done right the first time.
Later I had a problem with a drain pipe in a bathtub. I asked for their help. I had already opened the wall so the problem was clearly visible. They used their fixed-price book and said it would be $1,200 to repair. I told them to skip it, and I did it my self in less than two hours and under $50 in parts. The complaint here isn't so much about their service, but the general complaint I have with "from the book" plumbing services - which charge based on a flat book rather, rather than on your particular needs.
Overall, they know their stuff and do quality work, but fail to follow thru to completion and price things based "on the book" and not on your specific problem.
"Our apologies for the way that you feel. We considered us to have a good working relationship - which you stated in your review of our company, "they know their stuff and do quality work." The safety valve was the cause of the leak mentioned, and to our knowledge that is the only leak or problem with the system. The manufacturer did send the wrong safety device with the boiler, unknowingly it was installed. We realized this when the member called stating there was a leak. We came right out and realized the problem immediately, which we also found very odd considering it came with the boiler. We since replaced the safety valve, and are very apologetic for the time it took. It was not an emergency *as the member also stated to us* and we did not prioritize it like it should have been prioritized. Also, the member called us back to have us come look at a large job for gas piping at his home, only a few short weeks ago, for a new gas back-up generator. We were very surprised to see this unsatisfactory review on Angie's List."
"Replacement of an aging and broken furnace is always the best case scenario, however, not every one likes to or can afford to put the money out for this kind-of solution. This is why we always try a repair option first, then if that repair option does not last we credit back the entire repair cost towards a new system. We usually do not put in our quote the way a furnace will arrive, be carried in, or be set in place. We would like to think our customers know that it will be done in the most efficient and best way possible. We install many different brands of equipment, usually anything that the customer recommends. However, we do recommend Tappan - solely because it has the best warranty in the industry and we have had very good results with this brand. We hope that the company you chose reached your expectations and wish you only the best!"
"We are very sorry that you feel you over paid for your repair and that we had to come back. This is a great situation to mention our 2 years parts & labor warranty on everything that we do! The next day there was no charge for our visit and you now have Air Conditioning on an aging unit."
"OUR COMPANY WAS NOT AWARE OF THIS SITUATION UNTIL SEEING THIS POST. THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN HAS SINCE BEEN TERMINATED. WE HAVE A ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY FOR UNETHICAL TECHNICIANS THAT DOESN'T HAVE OUR CUSTOMERS BEST INTEREST AT HEART. OUR BUSINESS IS BASED ON REPEAT CUSTOMERS... WE REQUIRE NOTHING LESS THAN HONESTY AND INTEGRITY FROM ALL OF OUR SERVICE TECHNICIANS. OUR DEEPEST APOLOGIES."
"THE MEMBER IS VERY MUCH IN THE RIGHT IN THIS SITUATION. WE HAD ACTUALLY TRIED TO SAVE TIME BY MAILING IN HIS PERMIT FORM WITH A CHECK AND IT DID NOT GO SMOOTHLY, NEEDLESS TO SAY. OUR APOLOGIES TO HIM. WE WERE IN A LITTLE BIT OF A BIND, HAVING ALREADY FILED ONE PERMIT BY MAIL AND NOT KNOWING IF IT WAS ACTUALLY GOING TO PROCESS OR NOT. IT WAS A LITTLE BIT OF A WAITING GAME AT THE END, AT HIS EXPENSE, UNFORTUNATELY. WE HAVE LEARNED A HARD LESSON BECAUSE OF THIS SITUATION AND DO NOT MAIL IN PERMITS AT ALL ANY MORE! AGAIN, OUR APOLOGIES."
