I booked with these guys on a Monday to move some heavy furniture about 40 miles on that following Sunday morning. They quoted me about $1,000. Friday before the move at 8:00 PM, I received an email stating that they were imposing a surcharge at $.50/mile travelled (from leaving their office to getting back to their office). It was too late to talk to anyone and I certainly couldn't contact any other moving company at that point. Again, the team that came was helpful and pleasant to talk to. I had broken down all the furniture that needed to be taken apart and had moved everything into a fairly clear area so that they would have access to wrap it with padding, etc. Then comes the bill. over $1,500 with the new surcharge, an "Environmental surcharge" - whatever that is - a $55 credit card fee, when they told me they required a credit card. Turns out, these guys are known for scamming people - just look at the Better Business Bureau page on them.

Another dissatisfied customer. I hired FCM after getting three quotes. I liked that they actually came in person for the estimate. I was quoted $2000 for the move, and 179/hr for packing the day before. I've used movers in the past so I had an expectation of how fast they should work. Three college kids showed up and packed for 8 hours ($1800), which was way beyond what I figured it would take. The next day (moving day) was a complete disaster. Despite coming to the house twice (once for the estimate and once to pack), they managed to completely misjudge the amount of things to move so they needed another mover and truck. The estimate was for 8 hours. They took 16 hours (plus extra mover and truck for 11 hours) and demanded payment of $6800 upon completion. Yes, that's over three times the estimate. I refused to pay and they eventually left (around midnight). A few days later they send the invoice, which has magically reduced to $4900. That is still over double the estimate. Look, I could understand if it went over by a few hours, but this is ridiculous. They could not tell me what went wrong with the move. When I kept asking why it took so long, they said there must have been trash there, or something changed since the estimate. Nothing changed, and they refused to take trash on the truck. This being 4th of July weekend, my lawyer was on vacation. I needed at least another day to hear back from him over what I should be reasonably expected to pay. That's when they threatened to "find a way to make this a BIG problem for me". I wish this had a happy ending, but it doesn't. The lawyer got back to me and said I should go to small claims court, which would drag it out over several months. Otherwise settle on a price. They took another $600 off and I payed. Now that I'm unpacking, I see what went wrong. I just opened a box with watermelon sized balls of packing paper, each containing a single drink coaster. Are you kidding me. That's why there were so many boxes and so much time wasted. These college kids wasted all day between my two properties, running up the bill. Skip the headache, hire professionals.

It went perfectly. Patrick and Jake made sure nothing was damaged. They were extra careful, polite and very professional. I would definitely hire them in the future and highly recommend them.

They brought all of our belongings up to our new apartment in a third story, in a building with no elevator! These guys did an amazing job, were very careful with our things, and very respectful. Great service! This is the second time we hire them for a move. The first move was much shorter, and it cost $500. This move was much larger and we moved about two hours away, so their price was reasonable.

Awesome! They were the best movers I have ever had. The best from start to finish. On time, professional. respectful, thorough, careful, and thoughtful. Most impressive was their ability to get everything done with only two guys in such a timely manner and the organization with which they did it. The price was fair and I hope anyone experiencing a move with these hard working guys gives them a generous tip, they deserve it!!!

It went pretty well until they charged me almost double the original estimate. The owner then called a couple times and threatened to take me to small claims court if I did not pay him the balance. The reasons he gave for the difference between the estimate and final bill were untrue: E.g., I had agreed to take certain items in my car and then did not do so, etc.. On the day of the move, I had agreed to split the difference between the final bill and the estimate, and he had already cashed that check. I did not have to do this because I had no written contract with this company. On Yelp, there are many similar stories. I cannot recommend this company.

The guys were very prompt.  Both of them were very personable and got to work right away.  They did a great job wrapping the furniture and getting all my things into their truck without a scratch.  All in all the move took about 5 hours or so, and the price I listed did include a discount.  I would highly recommend them to others who are planning a local move in the greater Western Massachusetts area.

Everything went very well. Dan and Daniel were here right on time. They relocated everything as requested and didn't damage anything and they were very nice and professional. It was a stress free experience.

The movers worked really hard . They used moving blankets to pad doorways and put down a protective floor mat. They did not have available their larger truck so they had to rent a similar one that took longer, I had a lot to move.

Absolutely incredible!  Exceeded all of my expectations.  By far and away the best moving company I've ever used in my 28 years of owning homes.  The crew (Corey, Tanner & Kyle) worked their butts off for 10 hours straight.  Very professional, arrived on time, super strong, no damages, and just an incredible "can-do" attitude that I love. It went okay, not great, but okay.  The movers arrived on time, they were professional, and they handled our belongings reasonably well.  They were, however, quite slow.   They took much longer than other movers have taken to move the same stuff.  In the end, they took more than TWICE as long as they had estimated it would take.  I have never had an estimate be that far off.  To their credit, the office did make an adjustment and meet us in the middle between the estimate and the amt if they billed for the whole long day.

Quick and easy.  I will never try moving on my own again.  Five College Movers is the way to go all day.

They answered my initial inquiry very quickly. They came when they were supposed to. They worked really hard the whole time they were there. I was loading one of those moving cars and they were able to get everything into one part which I found some what amazing. They were really nice guys.

It went well. The movers were very good.  However, if I was to do it again, I would definitely have someone come to the house first to assess the contents.  The movers brought a truck that was too small for my house contents so they had to make two trips. Thus, I incurred the cost of the labor as it took longer to do the move.
