Here are excerpts from my emails to Peluso painting re painting one side of the house. The men who did the interior painting did a very good job. After repeated requests and many emails, they never came back to make the job right on the outside. Over 4,000 dollars and the house looked terrible. My notes below make it clear what the problem was. Again, they never fixed the problem. Right after the work, you could see all the places where paint had chipped and they simply painted over WITHOUT sanding properly so that the problem areas were flush with the rest of the siding. The company gives a good song and dance about customer satisfaction, but that's about as far as it goes. A real disappointment. "There was not enough sanding, to blend where the stain had chipped away with your new paint. In other words, it needed more sanding before the new paint was applied. Now, there are many spots where you can see the old layer of paint, with the spots covered thinly with new paint. In asking for this side of the house to be repainted, I was looking to have the house look good. The many spots, just after a paint job, are not what anyone would want." At this point, it seems clear you have no intention of making the job right. When I was deciding on a painting contractor, you told me a story of going back to a job to satisfy a customer. You suggested that this was good business practice and that keeping the customer happy was good for your word of mouth business. [. . . .] If you look at it objectively, I think you will agree that the paint job on the garage side of the house is sub-standard. I am sure you would not be happy if your house looked this way. It is reasonable to expect, given that I paid you $4,270 (not including the extra money for the touch-ups to other sections of the house), that you would have properly sanded the wood before painting. I would like to know, as well, whether you applied one or two coats, since there are many blotches." So, you get the idea. When discussing work you will get a good feeling; once you have written the check, it's goodbye and good luck.
