Moynihan Lumber

Excellent. The replacement was the same style in the Andersen 200 series. The installer, Brian Hornblower, worked flat out for nearly 8 hours. The doors fit perfectly - not an easy job here - and no mess or fuss. He knew exactly what he was doing. The doors were delivered the morning of the installation, as Moynihan said they would be, and the installer arrived a little ahead of them, so there was no problem of where to put them. Additionally, the installer needed some extra wood for framing later in the day, so he called Moynihan and they delivered them right away, so there was no delay in the installation. The people at Moynihan Lumber of No. Reading were pleasant and professional. The installer was also friendly and pleasant and informative.

Great quality, price and turn around time. I will surely be contacting them again for my next project.

Ordered Anderson windows with home show discount. Correct windows came and were expertly installed by Shawn and his crew. The only minor problem was the amount charged was $70. more than the original bill. When I inquired on this after the installation, They informed me that it was for extra material needed to complete the job, and sent me a copy of the revised billing. Love my new windows and would use these folks again.

Moynihan Lumber is a family owned hardware type of store that has been in the community for a long time. We've used them for several years now and they are excellent. They have really good prices, excellent customer service, and they are probably one of the best businesses I've have ever worked with. People will never have a problem going to Moynihan Lumber and we are going to use them again in the future for home improvement projects.

They were straightforward to deal with and they had the type of product I was looking for. They didn't try to oversell.

Excellent craftsmanship and service

I have used them before but my last experience with them was terrible. Almost everything they did was wrong.

I dealt with a wonderful saleswoman and I highly recommend dealing with Moynahan's. They did all the measuring and the woman was a kitchen planner so she helped me with the kitchen design. I have been back and forth to there a million times asking her opinion; she has given me suggestions even to the point of not selling me a custom-made cabinet because it was very expensive so she recommended a different option and was very honest and down to earth. I will use them again in the future.

My experience was very good. The quealuity of the windows was great. their service Was also excellent.

We had our first appointment in January and Stephanie Karely, the kitchen designer for this company, was with us until June. She visited our kitchen many times, then drew up the plans and knew exactly what we wanted. She was incredibly accomodating and had creative ideas. If something didn't work, she fixed it to make it work. She really went above and beyond. She then worked with the contracting company that actually installed the cabinents, and they worked very well together. I'm so happy with their services and the work is truly beautiful. I would recommend them.

I called them to find out about replacing some kitchen cabinet doors. They asked me to take off the doors and bring them in to their Beverly location, which I did. I was supposed to receive a call back when they had the product for me. A few weeks went bye so I contacted them again and told them that I hadn't heard from anyone and that my home improvement project could no longer be held up by Moynihan Lumber. So apparently this prompted a call back. However I was told that they have left several messages for me already but they couldn't confirm what number they called because they threw out all of my info. Included in this info was the information on the cabinet doors. So now not only am I being called a liar, but the only fix to this problem is for me to once again bring in the doors to this same incompetent store.

I realize this review is 4 years after the fact so I will give Moynihan the benefit of the doubt and hope that have improved in this time span. I am writing this now because I am again looking to replace other windows, so I joined Angie s List and saw a good Moynihan review and this prompted me to write about my experience. I also recently gutted 3 bedrooms, removed all the trim. In opening up my walls I was able to see how badly Moynihan installed my windows. Many of them never opened smoothly to begin with. Nails were shot everywhere and hardly grabbed the wood; open cavities were uninsulated after I specially asked them to really stuff the cavity full of insulation. The window stops they made were cheap pine, uneven and cracked. The installers looked like high school kids, they pried away my trim to remove the old windows and in doing so they cracked the original trim, cracked the walls and when they jammed the new windows in they even cracked and gouged the new windows. I called and called Moynihan trying to get them to fix the improperly installed window, cracks and gauges but they ignored me. I also wanted them to refund me a reasonable percentage of the total money since the new windows were not new anymore after their crew finished. I went through several people and even had a person come to my home to inspect. He seemed sympathetic and I thought he would help but in the end he ignored me and refused to return calls. I literally left 50 messages and finally started leaving messages for someone with the last name Moynihan to call me. Those requests were also ignored. In the end I was defeated and gave up with them. I have made a point of steering friends and family away from Moynihan after my experiences. Ordering the windows was a simple and easy process and the price was not a deal but it was also not overpriced. The problems started on the day of install. I took off from work and no one showed up. This is common in this trade and a major inconvenience. I called Moynihan and found that the contractor was a sub and not an employee of Moynihan. He was in Gloucester working on another job and couldn t make it. Finally later in the day he showed. He described himself as a master carpenter but could not start any work until Moynihan delivered the materials. I was under the impression that he would be showing up tools ready and the materials loaded on his truck. Not so, he had to argue with Moynihan to deliver and reschedule to start on another day. Finally when this was scheduled he did show up with 2 other members of his crew. The master carpenter did no work himself and quickly disappeared from the scene and did not return, He left 2 young inexperienced kids to demo my old windows and install the new windows. As I said earlier they installed them badly and cracked or gauged everything they touch.

I really thought this company was pretty professional. They weren't too sales guyish and I liked that. What I mean is they were straight forward and didn't really mess around, so I felt good about using them. I liked the prices of their windows and as far as the installation job went, that went really great too.

We needed to replace two doors in our basement with louvered doors to allow better airflow for our heating/cooling system. A previous wonderful experience with Moynihan (they went well above and beyond my expectations for just a $9 sale!) keeps me coming back. I ordered the doors and had them delivered in two weeks -- I didn't even know delivery was included! They fit perfectly and came out exactly how we hoped.
