He felt that it was such a minor repair that he didn't charge me. It wasn't minor to me. The railing was unsafe to lean against and now I'm appreciative that it is fixed properly. He is punctual, professional, personable and does good work. I highly recommend Iron specialties.

There once was a crooked fence...... and this guy installed it for me or at least a railing. Having read the reviews I was OK with having Jake do the job even though at $1600 things seemed a bit pricey. I had a patio put in and Jake was hired to do the railing for the stairs. As you can see from the photo the middle section spindles are not perpendicular.

Contacted jim who came the next day and provided an estimate, showed us some examples and suggestions.We accepted the estmate . Even though jim said it would take about a week, he was able to get the materials, and do the job in 2 days. Timing was great as the weather was turning bad (snow). Jim completed the entire job, as well as repair a crack in a stair in a few hours. Very professional.

We choose a style and he measured and then gave us an estimate which we accepted. He completed the custom work in less than a week. The installation of the two railings took about one hour. They look great. He took his time to install them properly and put a finish coat of paint on them. We are very pleased with the new railings and would use Iron Specialities again. He also accepted the coupon.

Mr. McCormack was very responsive, professional, and did a great job. I'd use him again in an instant. My only quibble is that it seems a touch expensive for the services performed, but I have no evidence to back that up, as I did not get any quotes from another vendor.

MR. McCormack is the owner of IRON SPECIALTIES and works by himself. He answered my phone call, listened to my need, made a date to be at my home the next day with a free estimate. The next day he arrived at the said time, gave me an estimate along with a design drawing and price and promised to do the job in one week. All of this he did-returning in 5 days instead of 7!

He was kind and polite and accomodating to me and my elderly father. If every tradesman were like him the world would be a bette place! I would hire him again and highly recommend him to anyone!

He answered my phone call and showed up to measure the next day. The railing, which was custom, was installed a week later. He gets 2 thumbs up on all counts, on time, within budget, prompt response, very professional.

Jim came promptly on Thursday morning. He asked me exactly where I wanted the railing sections placed and marked each section. He carefully dug the holes for the cement and rail footings and didn't disturb the walkway or the plantings. He really had a hard time working up against a rather large holly bush but never complained. After the installation he painted any scratched parts that he saw. He cleaned up everything even my driveway where he had spilled some cement. The walkway had some large cracks that he had noticed when he first came to give an estimate. So he offered to fill those cracks. He did a great job! I was really pleased with him.

I called Jim's number and left a message, he called me back that day. We set up a time for him to come and view the stairs and work up a price to install the new railings. He then called and scheduled a time to come out and install our new railings. He showed up as planned and installed the railings.

Excellent experience. Prompt, courteous, thorough. My husband didn't like the way the railing fit against the trim around the door, but the door was uneven, so Jim custom made a wood block that would fix the appearance at no extra charge.
