First if you are reading this, I have put well over a year between my last contact with Mark and this incident so I have much better perspective than I did while going through these issues at the start of 2012. Mark and more importantly his staff did quality work. My experience is that he does not have the time to manage his finances nor has the ability to have office staff to manage the admin activities of a company. Make no mistake though, in my opinion you should not hire MSF or any of the various companies he has incorporated because he is dishonest and flat out left a job uncompleted and had no intention of paying my family back for uncompleted work.
This review/compaint is directed at Mark Forge and his company(ies) Forge Landscapes and MSF Landscapes Inc. for non-payment to his suppliers. It is also directed any number of other companies Mark has created over the last 34 years in the state of Massachusetts. In my view he is a prime example of why the Landscape industry should require licenses in MA.
This complaint detail was meant to act as a demand for resolution due to non-payment by Mark Forge and his company MSF Landscapes, Inc to the material supplier Congliaro Industries. On November 1, 2011, Mark and I entered into a contract where MSF Landscapes agreed to build a retaining wall and patio, excavate our property, install an irrigation system and provide the necessary labor to complete all the work based on Quote #1009 and my additional specifications outlined in a detailed bid sheet detail.
To date, I have paid his company $81,000.00, for the work he completed and based on the demands he placed as work was progressing. I had asked Mark orally and in multiple email and text correspondence to provide proof of his payments to Conigliaro Industries so that they no longer threatened to place a mechanic's lien on my house. These communications started in early January and had continued with my attempts to get resolution up through March of 2012. On February 10 in an email, he stated," What has happened is that we received a sizable deposit for a project and have purchased a substantial amount of materials only to find out that as of two weeks ago the deposit has not cleared our account. Because of my illness I have not been able to track this down. This problem along with little or no snow work has us in a bind at the moment. This will all work it self out but we are looking at the end of next week."
There was never resolution nor communication of progress from MSF Landscapes, Forge Landscapes or Mark himself. I told Mark that if I do not have a written response and evidence that you have paid Conigliaro Industries for the material (concrete blocks) in full by Feb 24, I would formally file complaints with the Attorney General's office. In addition to this I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and retaining an attorney to address this. So I sent a note to the BBB, where Mark did not try to work on a resolution with me and after discussing options with my attorney, basically there was little I could do to recoup my losses.
There is still hope that there would be resolution with Mark even now, but he has not offered an opportunity to make this right. What I will continue to do is to make sure other folks do not suffer the same financial setback that Mark caused my family by posting the facts on sites like Angies List.
