He came when we called him . . . a MIRACLE on the Cape!!!

It went well. It was a small leak but prevented us from using water so they came out within 24 hours.

Had 3 quotes for the work done, but Barrett was the only plumber who actually asked my how I was going to use the system and recommended a unit that fit my needs. The other plumbers just assumed what I needed and quoted based on that. In addition, Barrett was very familiar with furnace rebate programs and helped guide me through the process. It was clear they did this work on a regular basis and the installation went very smoothly. The system is working exactly as I had hoped and the crew went over to my house to check on the system since it is my second home and I do not live there in the winter. The cleaned up after themselves and left the home in great shape. I am very please with my experience and would recommend. The office staff is super responsive and a pleasure to work with too. I did take almost a month get an appointment for a quote on the calendar, so you need to figure that in.

The new furnace was installed October 2014 and since then we have had ongoing problems. Meanwhile, the Lennox Corporation is involved and we got a new furnace to replace the one that got installed in 2014. The second furnace does not work properly either and it does not seem that Barrett is able to resolve the problem. In the last 2 weeks the furnace stopped working 3 times. There can always be a problem with a system and we were very tolerant. After 2 years of not being able to get the furnace working properly, we have doubts in their abilities. This company seemed to be professional and customer oriented in the beginning but when the ongoing problems showed up, their customer service faded away. Meanwhile, the same technician comes to our house because he is familiar with the system and he tried to figure out the problem. The owner of the company, Richard Barrett, does not give us the feeling that he is interested in our problem any longer. Today is Thanksgiving, the furnace stopped working. It is cold outside and we have guests. We called Barrett and after a while, the after hours technician called back. He let us know that he talked to Richard Barrett and that he would not come out. When we asked him why, he answered first: he did not know how to work with a Lennox furnace and second: the other technicians were celebrating with their families and did not want to interrupt. Well, we were celebrating also but in the cold. We called again and wanted Richard Barrett to call us back. We did not hear from him.

The furnace was installed in November of 2013, at which time I paid the invoice in full, and seems to be working properly, however the company contacted me and said that the permit they pulled through the town had not been closed. They never scheduled an inspection. I was told that I needed to schedule an appointment immediately and it needed to be done. When I asked why this wasn't done at the time of installation the secretary simply said that it wasn't her fault but if it wasn't done I wouldn't be able to ever sell my home because the work was never inspected. I was also informed by the town inspectors office that if there was a problem or accident/malfunction that my homeowners insurance would not cover it. I was shocked and surprised and when I started asking questions she hung up on me. I called back and explains that I was the woman she had just hung up on and she said it that it wasn't her that it was the owner that hung up on me and they hung up on me again. I trusted this man in good faith and paid him for the job he did believing that he followed all the procedures necessary to complete the work he promised. All I was looking for was an explanation, some sort of an apology and he hung up on me. I am concerned about his business practice. My family's safety is of the utmost importance to me and he disregarded that completely. He needs to conscious of his actions to his customers. What a shame that someone would not stand behind their work, their name, and not own up to their mistakes. I am a reasonable person and I understand that things are overlooked and missed, we are all human, however, I expect to be treated with respect and dignity when doing business with anyone. He owes me an explanation and an apology. I would never trust anyone who can't owner their own responsibility to their customers. Shame on you Mr Barrett.

My 23-year old central A/C quit when I needed it most. I called several contractors to see about getting an estimate on replacing the system, and Mr. Barrett was able to fit me into his schedule the next day. I received his proposal within a couple of days, and after reviewing it, I decided to contract with him to replace the system. Work began a few days after signing the proposal and returning it to him with a 50% deposit. August 10, 2016, 7:30 am, the first of his two-man crew arrived and began disconnecting the air handler located in the attic. Within a few minutes, the second guy arrived, and together they continued removal of the old air handler. In short order, a new air handler was taken to the attic and installed. The outdoor condenser was removed and replaced with a new unit, and the refrigerant lines were flushed and cleaned, ready to accept new coolant. A couple of hours into the project, their electrician arrived to install the air handler safety pan switch and connect the new condenser. By 1:30 pm I had A/C! My experience with Barrett Plumbing & Heating exceeded all expectations. Mr. Barrett is very knowledgeable, personable and low-key -- he does not try to "over-sell". The men who did the installation were all business -- no fooling around, extremely conscientious and courteous. During the time they were working inside the house, they were mindful not to track in debris from outside (it was intermittently raining). The process was painless and I could not be happier (nor cooler) -- from the estimate to the final result -- no surprises. The system that was installed was a Lennox 2 Ton, 14 SEER.

This was just an exceptionally good experience from the day we called and spoke to Sue in the office to the finished work completed by service technician Troy.  The appointment was made with Sue over the phone the week before and we were told that the service technician would be at our home the following week on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. with an hourly price quote of $99 per hour plus parts.   Troy, showed up at our home at 10:00 a.m. on October 7 and immediately got to work.  Troy was extremely professional, courteous, neat, and friendly and he had the job completed in just about an hour. We also had time to discuss some future work that we have been considering.
We have not had good experience with other contractors here on the Cape, but this experience with Barrett's Plumbing and Heating restored our faith and has motivated us to continue to do additional work.  
We highly recommend Barrett's if you are considering plumbing and heating work and we look forward to our next project working with Barrett's.
