Very professional, pleasant to talk to, and efficient worker!
Excellent
Bobby from Salvato Electric did such a great job on our first call to him that I had him return to do some additional work that I wanted done. The first time we called him was to fix the lights in the hallway and bathroom that began flickering. Since early mornings are better for me, we were able to easily agree on a time and date for him to do the job. He arrived a few minutes early for our appointment and it was quickly apparent to me that Bobby knew his stuff. He explained that one of the breakers was most likely the problem and if it was the case, had one in his truck. After checking out the panel in the basement he replaced the bad breaker, swept up, and left in time for me to head to work. Since I liked his easy going professional attitude so much that we decided to have him come back to install a ceiling fan in a bedroom and replace a bathroom light fixture. He completed his work quickly and left the area as clean and neat as it was before he got there. I will be using Bobby for all of my electrical work in the future.
Bobbie always kept me informed of where he was in the work, and also showed me how to work the motion detector lights.
My concern was to have my old house upgraded electrically and meeting code; Bobbie's work did just that.
Bob has been to my house several times. A couple of years ago I gutted and rebuilt my entire downstairs and there was all kinds of wiring required. It was not an easy job as Bob needed to integrate with the existing wiring, rewire some old wiring, and add new wiring, lighting, and fixtures. He also had to do his work in parallel with the construction work I was doing. I was impressed with his ability to figure everything out.
In July of 2014 Bob returned to do some new work on my upstairs bathrooms. The work included wiring in switches and plugs and completing installation of lights and ceiling fans in 2 bathrooms. Bob has one more thing to do in these bathrooms when I get my vanity lights. The price specified in this report is for the upstairs bathrooms only.
Was on time and finished in scheduled tme.
WARNING - WARNING - WARNING - Do not use this guy!! I asked for small 4" lights/cans in the rooms since they are small and look better. Electrician never brought up and concerns or suggestions to use other types since it wasn't new construction. 1st night in the nursery one of the lights started to flicker and then shut off. About 10-15 minutes later it turned back on.
When my plaster took one of the lights down as he was working on the bathroom he pointed out the cans are NON-IC Rated and should never be installed in ceilings with insulation........my ceiling has insulation. That's why the light in the nursery room shut off. It was getting over heated. I told the electrician this and he assured me that "They are IC Rated and he's been doing this for 20 years". I then had to text him an image of the box stating not IC Rated.
I then purchased 5" cans that are IC Rated out of my own pocket and requested that he comes back and installs them since he has already been paid for the entire job. He came back and left after 5 minutes (I wasn't at home, my wife was). He said additional cutting would need to be done and for me to call him later in the week. I sent him a message earlier this week (05-21-14) asking when he would come back to finish the job. I got a 4 word text from him "No room, I'm done"
Talk about extremely unprofessional! This electrician is trying to blame me because I wanted 4" recessed lights. If he knew his trade he would have known that the light's he picked up weren't IC Rated and are not meant to go in existing construction ceilings with insulation. Further more, he should have advised me in the beginning if 4" can's are even available in IC Rated. I have spoken to 3 other electricians since then and they all knew about the product he used and they all said they stopped using it years ago. I figure he was just trying to back-pedal since he had already tried to tell me earlier that they were IC rated.
Now I have to pay for a new electrician to come in and fix this guys sloppy work and pay for the correct lighting.
Stay away from Salvato Electric in Billerica!!
"To Whom It May concern; I, Robert J Salvato Jr, owner of Salvato Electric have over 900 reports of great standing. I could not keep this gentleman happy; his exact words thru a text were I will blast you on Angie's List. I was there at least 4 to 5 different occasions to fix a small problem with 4" and 5" recessed lights; they do not make IC rated; this is old work and they are very low wattage which also have a thermal cut out to stop from overheating. Thank you, Robert J. Salvato Jr. Member of Angie's List since 1999."
