Do yourself a favor and don't hire him. I thought I would give a chance as it looked like others have not in the past. I was looking for an electrican for several projects, likely I only hired him for one. He gets really defensive when asked basic electrical questions. He would not come back and fix a basic wiring issue with a switched outlet. His temper is extreme. He left a long message using vulgar words, when I asked him to come back and fix a couple of things that were not complete . He is extremely sloppy and does not take any pride in his work. If that is not enough, I found he has had his license suspended in the past due to improper behavior. Do yourself a favor and don't hire Bobby. If you are foolish enough to hire him, don't pay him until 100 percent of the work is complete.

I'm really happy with all of my Angie's List people. I did have an incident where they had to come back and fix something that they had already repaired. They didn't charge me for that. There was one worker. This was an additional breaker. It wasn't a replacement, it was an additional separate breaker. We have a sump pump to pump water out of the basement on occasion and he separated that from the rest of the electrical system. So it was a little innovative.

Storm from a few nights ago led to some water leaking through our electric box. After drying out, one breaker was still tripping so I gave Robert a call. Thankfully he was north of Boston so said he could swing by early. He arrived on time and completed all the repairs quickly, walking me through every step he was doing. He replaced the faulty breaker, made sure the affected switches and outlets were back up and running, and sealed up the electric box outside to prevent future leaks.
Very professional, pleasant to talk to, and efficient worker!

It went very well. Bobby made us feel like we have known him for years. He showed excellent electrician skills and was very professional. Don't judge him by his crazy haircut. He reminds me of jerry Garcia. Great guy.

Bobby did a fantastic job.  I was lucky to get him so quickly as he had a cancellation.  He came over within a hour, fixed my box, pulled the permit, scheduled the inspector to show up ASAP... and I am happy to say I now have power back.  Thanks Bobby!  I will use your services again!

Bobby from Salvato Electric did such a great job on our first call to him that I had him return to do some additional work that I wanted done. The first time we called him was to fix the lights in the hallway and bathroom that began flickering. Since early mornings are better for me, we were able to easily agree on a time and date for him to do the job. He arrived a few minutes early for our appointment and it was quickly apparent to me that Bobby knew his stuff. He explained that one of the breakers was most likely the problem and if it was the case, had one in his truck. After checking out the panel in the basement he replaced the bad breaker, swept up, and left in time for me to head to work. Since I liked his easy going professional attitude so much that we decided to have him come back to install a ceiling fan in a bedroom and replace a bathroom light fixture. He completed his work quickly and left the area as clean and neat as it was before he got there. I will be using Bobby for all of my electrical work in the future.

Bobbie did a great job.  He is very friendly and professional.  Bobbie always showed up on time except once when something unexpectedly came up.  For that he called up ahead of time to reschedule; as a 'consolation' for our inconvenience (although it really was not) Bobbie upgraded my door bell to a new, lighted one for no charge.
Bobbie always kept me informed of where he was in the work, and also showed me how to work the motion detector lights.
My concern was to have my old house upgraded electrically and meeting code; Bobbie's work did just that.

I can't think of enough bad things to say about them. First of all, he broke his word and did not work over the weekend, putting our project in the other work where he was working on other project like painting. I have to clean up after all the workers and furnish on by the labor day. I have to had everyone out of there by end of Sunday so I could have a week to get the furniture in and everything else will get it all cleaned up and he agreed to do it and absolutely he would be there with three men. My question is price he said " Oh, this is a big job" I need three men to work for three days... Two men start up on Friday and then no one showed up on Saturday. When I called him he said "Oh, I like to relax on the weekend". And then on Sunday " Oh, on Sundays I go to church. So, everything left behind and then the work he did was incredibly sloppy. He actually asked one of the painter workers to stop the working doing for the painter to set some of his work. He didn't use the bulbs I supplied and he put in the wrong bulbs and one of the bulbs we discovered with the broken bulb. My husband got up to take them all out, to make them all match. He discovered one of them was completely broken. He had just walked away from it. And he argued with this time when he get in to not have to do the work that he had agreed to. He frightened us, he threaten to go to city hall and get a start work order so no one else could work in my apartment because I wasn't been patient until the work is done. He was just the worse. He made the agreement and then he took broke the whole thing and he was terrible. He charged us so much and I did question him and I asked what the hourly rate was and that's when I got this so many ideas. He said they're going to be three men and we're gonna work for three days but they were never three men working on the job. Never ever. I would not use him again in the future.

Bob has been to my house several times. A couple of years ago I gutted and rebuilt my entire downstairs and there was all kinds of wiring required. It was not an easy job as Bob needed to integrate with the existing wiring, rewire some old wiring, and add new wiring, lighting, and fixtures. He also had to do his work in parallel with the construction work I was doing. I was impressed with his ability to figure everything out.

In July of 2014 Bob returned to do some new work on my upstairs bathrooms. The work included wiring in switches and plugs and completing installation of lights and ceiling fans in 2 bathrooms. Bob has one more thing to do in these bathrooms when I get my vanity lights. The price specified in this report is for the upstairs bathrooms only.

WARNING - WARNING - WARNING - Do not use this guy!!   I asked for small 4" lights/cans in the rooms since they are small and look better.  Electrician never brought up and concerns or suggestions to use other types since it wasn't new construction.   1st night in the nursery one of the lights started to flicker and then shut off.   About 10-15 minutes later it turned back on.

When my plaster took one of the lights down as he was working on the bathroom he pointed out the cans are NON-IC Rated and should never be installed in ceilings with insulation........my ceiling has insulation.  That's why the light in the nursery room shut off.  It was getting over heated.   I told the electrician this and he assured me that "They are IC Rated and he's been doing this for 20 years".   I then had to text him an image of the box stating not IC Rated.

I then purchased 5" cans that are IC Rated out of my own pocket and requested that he comes back and installs them since he has already been paid for the entire job.    He came back and left after 5 minutes (I wasn't at home, my wife was).   He said additional cutting would need to be done and for me to call him later in the week.   I sent him a message earlier this week (05-21-14) asking when he would come back to finish the job.   I got a 4 word text from him "No room, I'm done"

Talk about extremely unprofessional!   This electrician is trying to blame me because I wanted 4" recessed lights.   If he knew his trade he would have known that the light's he picked up weren't IC Rated and are not meant to go in existing construction ceilings with insulation.   Further more, he should have advised me in the beginning if 4" can's are even available in IC Rated.   I have spoken to 3 other electricians since then and they all knew about the product he used and they all said they stopped using it years ago.   I figure he was just trying to back-pedal since he had already tried to tell me earlier that they were IC rated.

Now I have to pay for a new electrician to come in and fix this guys sloppy work and pay for the correct lighting.

Stay away from Salvato Electric in Billerica!!

Response from Salvato Electric Corp
"To Whom It May concern; I, Robert J Salvato Jr, owner of Salvato Electric have over 900 reports of great standing. I could not keep this gentleman happy; his exact words thru a text were I will blast you on Angie's List. I was there at least 4 to 5 different occasions to fix a small problem with 4" and 5" recessed lights; they do not make IC rated; this is old work and they are very low wattage which also have a thermal cut out to stop from overheating. Thank you, Robert J. Salvato Jr. Member of Angie's List since 1999."

He's great. We've used him several times. Always responsive, always prompt, always does great work. We've had several very large electrical projects done here by others and he has been the best by far both small and large projects. He is great at snaking wires....definitely a specialty especially in old houses.

Bobby made himself available almost immediately, easily located the loose wire in the fixture, and wrapped up the job quickly. When we happened to mention our vintage pinball machine was also ailing, Bobby couldn't resist tinkering with it, and had it working perfectly. Bonus service! We can always count on Bobby to get the job done thoroughly and efficiently. But it's the interest he takes in making our home safe, convenient, and enjoyable that makes him stand out.
