Masonry Concepts

BUYER BEWARE! Masonry Concepts is a fraudulent company. I hired them Oct 2020 to do chimney masonry work. I hired them because they said they could complete the job in three weeks. The owner James Pray required a downpayment of $1700 which I gave him. The job was supposed to be completed by the first week in November. I didn't hear from him again until late Nov. He said he would do the job the first week of December. He never showed up. This happened multiple times. When James Pray finally showed up at the end of December, he asked for more money for a second deposit which he required, and which I stupidly gave him. His pattern is to confirm multiple dates and never show to do the work, and never bother to call and cancel. So I was left waiting for him to show up at my home time and time again. He never responded to phone calls. Most of the time his voicemail box was full, presumably with other angry people trying to get him to do the work he was paid to do. He did this about 10 times. In January, I finally got sick of hearing excuse after excuse after excuse from him and gave him an ultimatum: show up by Jan 15th and complete the work or give me my money back. He never showed. I gave him a total of $3200, and he refused to give me a refund. I did my homework on the company after all this went down, and he has a long long history of ripping people off, making promises he doesn't keep, lying and giving excuses, and treating customers with no respect. When he gets too many complaints he pulls his company off of all referral and review sites, and uses another company name. He is a crook pure and simple. Do not do business with this man. He is a liar and a crook with multiple complaints from other people who he has done this exact thing to (check the BBB website). Please learn from my mistake and seek another company.
