Mike and his team did an excellent job with our floors. We came up with an excellent plan that involved a minimal amount of moving for our furniture. Mike was very easy to communicate with and was highly responsive.

I have done a lot of home renovation projects in the past, and I wish ALL contractors were like Mike. From start to finish of this ENORMOUS project, Mike was amazing to work with. He showed up when he said he was going to show up, he responded promptly to emails and texts, and he remembered all of the little details that we discussed along the way. His estimate was accurate and included all of the components that we talked about, and then we made some adjustments to the original estimate, which were also perfectly captured. And on top of all that, his quote/estimate was one of the most reasonable ones that we received (and we got 6 quotes). He was so knowledgeable with the information and advice that he provided, and I had complete trust that he would do a superb job. We had to move out of the house while the work was ongoing. He kept in touch the entire time, providing updates regularly. I never doubted that things were going well and according to plan. He had a team of two additional guys and they were also very pleasant and very hard working. And the work that was done was unbelievable quality. It looks so beautiful - a complete transformation of the home! In addition to the flooring, we paid Mike to install new 6 inch baseboards, which was a great addition. I would recommend Mike and Universal Flooring to anyone who is considering new hardwood floors or any flooring work for that matter. We will certainly use him again in the future if ever needed. Michael was very responsive from the get go and answered a ton of questions about how he would refinish an antique (1895) pine floor and fill in large cracks and gaps that had deteriorated over the years. He and his crew completed the job in one day, wore masks (essential during the pandemic), and left the place cleaner than before they arrived. Beautiful work and an excellent value.

Fabulous! Mike Tran (owner) is a gem. He is talented, hard working, dedicated, responsive, has a crew of men who are same. My 125 year old floors are now restored to their original oak beauty. I did not anticapate that they could look so great. After their terrific refinishing job, Mike and his crew work hard and patiently to leave everything vacummed as best they can, move all furniture back to exactly where you want it. They even offered to come back in a couple of weeks when one rug is returned from the cleaners to put it back in the dining room! We can do it, but that is the level of service and wanting you to feel your house is the way it was before that Mike aims to accomplish when he finishes. My kitchen ended up being much harder to demo than he anticipated, but he didn't give up and the results are great. I wish I could find other services like Mike Tran's Universal Hardwood Floors! He is superb. If this reads like I am a relative or friend, I am not. I am a 30 year resident of a Brookline Victorian home, neglected floors for way too long, and so pleased with the fine work, beyond all my expectations that Mike delivers. The floors are beautiful and Universal Hardwood is a great company to deal with. I couldn't be more pleased.

Mike was quick to respond to my initial email inquiry and came right out to give me a quote. He worked with me to schedule before I moved into my house. While Mike's price was slightly more than others I got, I am so glad I went with him. When he encountered a problem, he communicated with me, showing me the issue. It required him to do some extra work but didn't charge me more than his quote. He helped me find a plasterer to come allowing me to have my house ready for my move in. I highly recommend his work.

Fantastic. Anything unexpected was dealt with thoughtful and thorough consideration. I had very particular requests needed in the remodel and Mike Tran worked through every detail with me in a professional manner, even if my requests were a bit particular. He did a wonderful job slightly tinting my new floor in the kitchen to match the rest of the floor. My basement flooring needed a large patch replaced and he did that right away and tinted that beautifully as well. In addition, his crew were always efficient, considerate, and polite. I highly recommend Universal Hardwood Flooring. You can't go wrong. The pricing was fair. I had a lot of work done in my remodel and renovation of multiple spaces.

They did an exceptional job and i highly recommend them. We encountered unexpected issues (underneath the tile) and Mike was very flexible and accomodating.

While not inexpensive, Mike was the best! He was always on time, pulled up and carried off the existing carpet and pad, drove in all the nails that had risen, then sanded 3 times with successively finer grit, stained, and put 3 coats of poly on, requiring 3 separate trips. Each time he arrived punctually, put down drop clothes, and conducted himself in a professional manner. Highly recommend! He is a true craftsman and you will be thankful you hired him.

Michael was great in his communication and excellent in his work. I felt confident in his ability to do a good job because of his great reviews and he is the owner of his own business and does the work himself with just a small team. He and one of his team (Arthur) were very neat, punctual and respective of our home. With great skill and care they cocooned the area, replaced and finished the wood floor and also dealt very well with a difficult issue refitting a wine cooler (given a small change in the the height of the floor). They also cleaned up a couple of areas of the floor that needed attention without charging for it. The replaced floor looks beautiful and well-matched with the rest of the surrounding floors. It was a pleasure working with Michael and Arthur.

From start to finish Mike was timely in communication, performed the work as discussed at the on-site review and delivered on the stipulated timeline. This crew is absolutely awesome.

The whole process could not have gone any better. Mike was able to accommodate my time schedule, he and his crew showed up on time each day. They especially made sure to keep the work areas as clean as possible, changing shoes when coming inside to not track snow and sand into my apartment, vacuuming after each sanding, placing screen up so dust does not enter into other living areas, the attention to details was excellent. The final results was perfect refinished floors.
