ProTEK did external painting of our house. They were quick, precise and kept to our agreed on timeline despite rain challenges. We are so pleased with their work. There were a couple of very minor touchups needed and the painter came back the next day and went out of her way to make sure we were happy with her work. I would definitely use the again.

John was amazing to work with, as well as the whole team. They were professional, timely and responsive, and did great work exactly the way we wanted - repainted the house with some carpentry touch ups around some of the windows. Will definitely recommend to friends and neighbors.

We were very pleased with ProTEK Painters for our exterior painting project. John was very easy to work with - He was very responsive to our original quote request, provided a quote promptly and included helpful reference information on preparing for a large painting project as well as numerous references and examples of previous projects. The price quote was competitive and his responsiveness was unmatched. Our house is a large Mansard Victorian with (3) colors and numerous, detailed areas that had to be addressed. His team was on-site as scheduled and worked non-stop until the project was done. There was an issue where the paint supplier provided an incorrect color and it wasn't discovered until it had been applied in a number of areas, but once notified of the issue John resolved it quickly and without any issue which was greatly appreciated. John's team was very professional, efficient and respectful - they did a fantastic job and the house looks great!

Great job!!!! I had my kitchen, living room & hallway painted. They did such a great job. They covered everything, & took down light switches that I forgot to take down. They were so efficient and respectful. They finished the job in 2 days! I would recommend this company for all of your painting projects!!!

I hired ProTEK 10 years ago and was very happy with the job. When it was time to paint again I got a bid and based on price and past performance I chose ProTEK again. Response was quick and I got a bid right away. A team showed up a week prior and did a good job powerwashing the house. This Monday a larger team showed up and scraped (a lot of scraping on a shingle sided house), primed and painted the entire house in two days. Overall I am very happy with the job. High quality Benjamin Moore Paint was speced and used. Careful attention was paid to overhangs, window sashes, doors, railings and sills. Badly deteriorated glazing was repaired and both steel casement as well as wood double hung windows were painted cleanly. Clean up (and there were a lot of scrapings) was outstanding. I would highly recommend. BTW I am a licensed architect.

I can’t recommend John and his team enough! He arrived quickly after we contacted him about paint services for our condo and he was professional from start to finish. We had a few questions as to why our building was turning off color, and he took the time to explain the issue in detail and offer a solution. His price was very reasonable and he & his team were helpful, punctual and responsive with all of our questions and needs throughout the whole process. The actual paint job came out great, inside and out. We’re thrilled with the final product! Highly recommend!

Excellently! The large crew arrived at 6:45 a.m. to prep, scrap, base coat, replace items as needed, paint, clean up by 3:45 p.m. the same day. Supervisor checked in to field questions, check on the progress. I'm very pleased with the end result.

When customers go back to the same service provider again and again, that's usually the best recommendation. That's the case for us with John Guarino and his crew at ProTek Painters. John's crew painted our 1929 colonial in Newton about a dozen years ago, and we've just used him to do it again. In between, we used ProTek to paint the entire interior. Each time, the prep work was first-rate, which is essential. Careful power-washing, spot sanding and priming. The crew works extremely hard, and John used a huge gang of eight or so for our house so the job was done in two long days. Scheduling was easy. The crew is respectful of shrubs and grounds and cleans up carefully. We decided to add some extras and John obliged at a reasonable additional charge. His quote was a bit higher than the lowest bidder, but way below the top quote. An excellent and professional experience overall. Again.

The initial process was good and the work completed on time and professionally. However, just 4 years later, the paint is peeling all around the house and we have to have the job redone. ProTek quoted to repair the work but I did not feel we got the consideration we should have. We were told the primer ProTek used was substandard and the original paint was not sanded/scraped well enough.

However, we advised you 4 years ago that the clapboard siding needed to be replaced because it had weathered/dry rotted over the years to a point that it would not hold paint for the long term. Because your neighbor condo owners were moving at the time, they didn't want the added expense and for us to "just get the house ready for sale." When you called us this year, we offered to make all the necessary repairs at our cost to minimize the financial impact to you. Because we couldn't meet your scheduling requirements, you then decided to hire another painting company from the proposals you had gathered, which, we're sure, was twice the cost as to what we were going to charge you. So, we can understand your anger & frustration in leaving this review. What we can't understand after reading your review, is as to why you would hire us again to work on your house? All that said, we've been using the same industry gold-standards in preparation techniques and high quality alkyd primer for over 20 years that we've been in business. And although we would never criticize or assume to know what another painting company did or didn't do 4 years earlier, we'll let our repeat customers and our reviews on this and other forums speak for themselves. This year we had the pleasure of working with John Guarino and his team at ProTEK Painting in Newton. We had used them for a small job a few years back, and I had been talking with him over the last few years about repainting our house once we had finished a bunch of repairs and renovations. Finally, this summer we were ready to go. We did our due diligence and had several contractors estimate the job. We chose ProTEK because, not only was their bid lower than the others, but they were highly recommended by so many of their customers. We were not disappointed. The painters were fast and professional. They cleaned up each day. Their prep work was well executed, and the paint job was excellent. We would highly recommend them. John Guarino is a joy to work with. He was very flexible about scheduling the job. As we discovered some additional work that needed to be done, that was not in the original contract, he was kind enough to just include it in the job at no extra cost. He is very focused on customer satisfaction, often saying: "The job's not finished until you're happy." It was very true. We would definitely use ProTEK again, and do not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

He gave us a thorough proposal, a good estimate of the timing of the job, and the cost was reasonable. The work was done quickly, efficiently, and neatly. It went great! The crew arrived on time and did a fabulous job! They cleaned up after themselves and did whatever was asked of them. The owner, John Guarino, is very thorough and makes sure everything is the way the customer wants it. John always says, “i’m not done until you tell me i’m done”. Can’t ask for more than that!
