Jay Georgopoulos Heating & AC [HVAC]

Jay Georgopoulos was introduced to me by his cousin (our electrician, Brandon Beck --see related review). He works for a major HVAC firm and takes on freelance projects on weekends. We'd had multiple bids from well-known companies but weren't sure yet, so we thought, 'What the hey.' Jay came over and really impressed us with his understated manner, his obvious knowledge of heating/cooling systems, his willingness to listen to input and answer questions. We checked his recommendations and they were without exception very positive --they came from consumers but also from a contractor who'd had him work on a large multiresidence, so we felt sure he was being judged not just on his manner, but on his actual workmanship. His price was significantly lower than the bigger firms. As this was freelance work, the deal was that he could work only on weekends. (I feel sorry for his family!). It also meant the job took a good deal longer to get done. But he left no messes, worked very unobtrusively and promised our heat/humidification would work before winter and our AC before the summer heat --and he proved as good as his word. During the project, he was extremely reliable --coming when he said he would, returning calls if not right away, soon after. Very impressive to me was that after he'd already designed the project and I'd signed off on it, he thought up tweaks, minor redesigns of the ductwork to make the system work better...at no extra cost. There were no 'suprises' added to the bill. Even more impressive to me was that long after he'd been paid in full he came back, as promised, not once, not twice, but several times to check the system worked as well as promised. He adjusted the ductwork to get more heat to cold rooms and more AC to hot rooms. The humidifier did not work as well as expected, but under warranty. So he offered to swap it out for a newer, better model. I almost hope he's not AS good with every customer as he was with us, because he deserves more time with his family. Even if he delivers future customers less, they'd still be getting great service. He's an honorable, capable, fair guy. Can't recommend him highly enough.
