Boston Green Renovations

Bob Lafond and his crew did a major kitchen/bath renovation and added a room on our brownstone roof. We've worked with Bob for twenty plus years and would not have trusted anyone else with a project this big in a building that was built in 1890. Boston Green Renovations was helpful from design and permitting, from demo to finish work. Elements of the renovation included custom woodwork that came out spectacularly. It's the first thing you see upon entering and many guests comment on beautiful it looks.

Bob and his team were excellent from the get go. They gave us a very thorough estimate, which rolled into a contract. This provided us with the confidence to go with them. I also read through every single review(Angies, google) of BGR before going with them. Our architect also highly recommended the team. The day to day dealings were very good as well. We have two dogs, and the whole team is dog friendly. We were also pleasantly surprised that at the end of the project we really didn't have to make a hit list and hound them. They fixed all the imperfections without being asked. They are also responsive to changes, and additional tasks we requested. Finally, the best part, they came in on budget. No surprise random 20K problems to deal with. Very happy about this. In all, We would highly recommend this whole team to anyone looking for an honest company, with great people. We attached a picture of the kitchen before the final backsplash was put in.

Working with Bob LaFond and his team was as good as it gets in home renovation. We've done many projects over the years, and none has gone as well as this one. Bob was available, responsive, and has high quality standards for himself and his workers. Michelle was fantastic in terms of paint color selection and other expert advice (choice of granite countertops, tile, etc). Albert, his head construction person, is highly skilled and dedicated to a successful outcome. Bob was open to owner input and helped to implement mutually agreed solutions as challenges arose. Bob was professional to work with and his crew did a good job. His estimate for the work was reasonable and he came in on budget. I was very particular on several items and requested follow up, which Bob accommodated.

It was a great experience. Bob and his staff worked with us closely every step of the way. Not only did they do the actual construction project but they helped us design the kitchen space as well. Michelle, who handled the design phase of the project, met with us over and over again to pick out everything including the countertop, backsplash, flooring, hardware, paint color, and cabinets. Her work was especially helpful as we figured out how the overall space would be utilized. I can't praise her patience and creativity enough!!! The construction phase of the project went extremely smoothly. Bob promised us that the kitchen would be finished by thanksgiving (after beginning in early October) and true to his word we hosted thanksgiving that year in our new kitchen. Bob was at our house almost every day overseeing the project and Albert, the project manager, was so helpful and creative. A couple of times Albert and Bob helped us to rework some of the design of the kitchen as the project was going. j The project came in around our bid price (it actually was a bit over because of the changes we made) and, as I stated, it was completed on time. Beyond that, every step of the way, Bob and his staff was accomodating and responsive. Whenever we had questions bob, michelle, or albert would get back to us immediately. It really felt like all of us were working hand in hand to get this project completed the way we wanted it.

We chose Boston Green Renovations after using a different company for our 2 bathroom renovations and not being entirely happy with that experience. We wanted to find another design/build company to avoid working with too many different contractors and teams. From the day we met Bob and his team, we were immediately impressed with all they had to offer. Bob, Michelle and Glen arrived to our home to meet us in person and discuss a design. It was easy to work with all of them from start to finish and they each brought years of expertise to the job. After Glen put together the overall sketch and design for the kitchen, Michelle helped us with the design details. It was helpful to be able to visit their store, Terrene, as Michelle was able to show us examples of cabinets, tiles, flooring and countertop. Michelle was available to provide advice, yet allowed us to make our own decisions in the end. She made a few suggestions that we went with and to this day are so happy with those choices. Michelle is patient, knowledgeable and understands how big a decision everything was to us. While all of the products they offer are green, we went with a countertop that they didn't offer but Michelle told us exactly where to go to pick out the marble countertop we wanted and made the process as smooth as possible. We met their contractor, Albert, on the first day of the job and were more than impressed throughout the 5 weeks they worked on the kitchen. Albert's team were all very professional, clean, tidy and respectful. We couldn't have asked for a more smooth sailing process as we know how difficult a kitchen renovation can be on a family with children. Albert kept the communication open and checked in with us on a daily basis. The team promised us that the project would be complete in time for us to host Christmas and they came through. Bob was very involved throughout the entire project and would stop by almost daily to check on everything. At any point we reached out to Bob, Michelle or Albert, they responded that same day. Inevitably there were a few unexpected things that came up but then again our house was built in 1860. They did what they could to keep some of the original character of the home while incorporating all of the new flooring, cabinets, windows, tile etc. The cost did inrease a bit throughout the project but Bob was very open the entire time with how much of an increase everything would be. It would have been hard to project what these unexpected costs would have been beforehand and to be honest, we were okay with paying more as the project exceeded our expectations in the end. Knowing how old the house is, nothing is square in our home so working with the existing angles of the home proved to be very difficult. We experienced the same thing with our bathroom renovations. Everything took a bit more time and extra work because of this but Albert never seemed to be bothered by this. They worked around all of the challenges they were faced with and did so with a smile. Their attention to detail was amazing and quality of work was unlike anything we had experienced before. If you're looking to do a remodel in the Boston/Newton area, be sure to meet with Bob and his team as you won't be disappointed.

Excellent. They came here for an initial consult and bid. From Boston Green Renovations, their lead carpenter/ foreman is a craftsman and professional. The team at Boston Green Renovations - along with Terrene - coordinated everything, they answered questions and gave us a kitchen that was exactly what I wanted. They were timely, efficient and a pleasure to work with. Albert and Bob at Boston Green Renovations worked with my husband and I, answered our questions and addressed everything as we went along through the process. We love the kitchen because of the attention to detail provided and because they delivered the services on time by working efficiently and skillfully. We would hire them again. They listen and respond and work with you.

Everything went great! Our new kitchen is beautiful! Bob's team was very helpful at selecting and quot;greenand quot; materials for our kitchen renovation project. We have a child with asthma and having products that didn't off-gas chemicals into our house was very important to us. Not only that but they were great at helping us select products that would look good together and help us to create the vision we had in our heads. They were very professional and were good at keeping us updated on any cost increases or changes and asked for change orders to be signed before any cost changes were incurred. They kept us abreast of the schedule and tried to get the project done before we moved into the new house (or at least as much as possible done) so we weren't living without a kitchen for very long. They kept the work area neat and cleaned up after themselves. They were good with kids and our dog as well. They made sure all the little details were taken care of and we were satisfied with the end product. Definately quality work! We are already planning on saving up for our next renovation project and would not hesitate to use them again.

Bob's expert guidance and calm demeanor helped to keep a potentially stressful project, problem free for my wife and I. He worked collaboratively with us and our architect to bring our vision to reality and we will always be thankful!

I had already gotten three estimates for my bathroom project but I'm really glad I waited and got a 4th from Bob. From start to finish it was a very satisfying experience. When Bob came to look at the bathroom he asked questions that others hadn't bother to raise and it gave me a sense of confidence that he was covering all the bases. I was surprised that his estimate was the lowest but he seemed so knowledgeable that I didn't worry about it. I had already worked with his designer Mary Ellen who in the space of three hours with me, had picked out tiles for the shower and the floor, a vanity top and a design for the accent tiles. He also put me in touch with a plumbing supply house and a woman who was able to quickly help me pick out all the fixtures. The work started the second week in January and from demolition to the bathroom being usable again was only two weeks. Albert, who did all the tile work and dry wall and painting was great. I felt completely comfortable with giving Bob the keys and letting him and Albert come and go as needed. There was some additional electrical work that needed to be done outside of the original estimate but it was work that could not have been anticipated in advance so no problems there. All of my concerns (and they were minor ones typical of this type of remodel) were handled quickly and I felt that Bob and his crew were giving my job all the attention it needed. I am delighted with my new bathroom and wouldn't hesitate to use Bob again and to recommend him to my friends.
