MCGRATH IRRIGATION

Last spring, while the guy was turning on the system (chatting on his cell phone at same time) he didn't notice that something was wrong...one of the zones was pouring water into our basement! The previous fall they had not fully blown out the water, so the pipe froze, water expanded, and pipe burst a hole over the winter. Called McGrath who apologized and assured me not to worry, that he "has insurance to cover these kind of situations". We had the repairs done (open wall, find pipe breakage, replace pipe, close wall, fix and paint wall etc etc) and sent him the $1800 invoice. No reply. Called him after two months and he apologized and promised he would submit the claim (some excuse about being sick and forgetting about it...). Long story short, his insurance company, "Selective Insurance" of Kentucky is appropriately named! I sent many emails with photos, explanations, documentation etc etc and after two months they sent me an email saying it wasn't covered. Meantime I had called and emailed Jack McGrath four or five times and HE NEVER RESPONDED! So, yes his service is less expensive, but beware, he is dishonest and his workers are lazy! I'm out $1800 plus huge waste of my time trying to get reimbursement!

We've used them in the past with a positive outcome for the annual turn on. The scheduling was not convenient and the service man's attitude was unprofessional. I would use them again but if I run into a similar situation, that would be the last time I use them.

THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIVE AS THEY NEVER RETURN PHONE CALLS. THEY DO NOT FIX PROBLEMS THAT THEY CAUSE. YOU NEED AN INTERMEDIARY SUCH AS A LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT JUST TO COMMUNICATE WITH THEM AND EVEN THEN THEY MIGHT NOT RESPOND.

I''M VERY PLEASED WITH THE SERVICE AND THE REPRESENTATIVES. I HAVE ARRANGED FOR THEM TO COME BACK IN THE SPRING TO TURN THE SYSTEM BACK ON.
