Rob and Greg did a fantastic job. They worked here for four days and were very neat and answered some general questions about house repairs without the least hint of being bothered. I really trust these guys.

The prior interaction was professional. The project execution went smoothly. Rob's time estimate was accurate. As of now (it's written a couple of days after the project was finished), no complaints.

We obtained two estimates for this work. RJN's was lower than the second estimate by 50% but he came highly recommended, so we hired him. Job was delayed for over a year due to our need to obtain special building permit due to recent change in zoning laws, but RJN only charged for its minimal increase in materials cost. Rob kept in close touch with us during the entire year and started the work when he promised to start. Rob was on the job daily, and the work progressed smoothly. Rob never let any unexpected discoveries throw him off. When we decided, after the work had started, to change the type of heating in the new room, and Rob's plumber gave what we both considered a ridiculously high price to make the change, Rob readily agreed to let us hire our own plumber. He then worked closely with our plumber to coordinate the details. On days when RJN's work on our project couldn't go forward and Rob was working elsewhere, he made himself available to answer questions and returned to help with the coordination of our plumber's work with his work and to resolve an issue with the oak flooring installer. The quality of the completed product is excellent. We tend to sweat the details and Rob does as well. Rob is honest, intelligent, straightforward, and easy to work with. He constantly stays in touch, and kept us posted on outstanding issues. We asked Rob to take care of a number of extra work items. His prices were fair. Rob did not "nickel and dime" us on small changes to the original scope of work.

As anyone who has an older home knows, whenever you start a seemingly simple project, other unseen problems inevitably crop up. What was most important to us is that Rob, the owner, was fair and honest, presented new problems clearly and realistically, provided solutions that were cost effective and was very knowledgable about all aspects of the work. We felt we could trust him and found that communicating with him was easy and that is huge to those of us who have to frequently make repairs to an older home. He was also sensitive to our concern that we live in an historic district and wanted to maintain the architectural character of the original structure. Rob was on the job every day. His carpenter, Greg, was a true craftsman. Both were meticulous and detail oriented. They arrived on time and communicated frequently and clearly with us. They cleaned up every day and on the last day even spent time washing their fingerprints off the white vinyl siding that they had removed and reinstalled. These are men who take pride in their work. Obviously, the job took a lot longer than the original estimate, given the additional problems we encountered, but the work progressed well and we were very satisfied. We still have a long punch list as we try to maintain our 1914 center entrance colonial and we have already told Rob we will be contacting him soon to do more work for us. I had agonized over hiring a contractor who would be first and foremost a knowledgeable and qualified craftsman who would do justice to our older home. That is why I turned to Angie's List. With RJN Construction I feel I hit the jackpot.

Rob was not the lowest bid we received but his was timely and reasonable. The work was top notch and he was responsive to all our questions and concerns. I really felt I got what I paid for. Rob is the third contractor I have had work on our house and he is by far the best. He was responsive, professional and on-site everyday. The job was completed roughly on time (with only weather-related delays affecting the timeline). He has good relationships with his subs and we did not have unexpected overages or costs. Rob gives an accurate estimate of what quality work will cost (not what I wish it would cost!) which I appreciate. I have given him an "A" for price because I have friends who have gone with cheaper bids only to pay more in the end when they were dissatisfied or the "unanticipated costs" added up quickly. When additional costs arose (replacing clapboards, for example rather than refurbishing the existing siding which turned out to be rotten), Rob wrote up the estimate but did not press us to spend additional money. However, his suggestions were always excellent and saved us money in the long run. We are one of the few people I know who actually have no complaints about our contractor!

I think that they were great. They were very timely with the work, and all of the subcontractors were great. They were very easy to work with. They were very affordable as well. I had several bids before this one, but this one was the best. The owner is very responsible with his work.
