Mail Boxes Etc

The man who runs this Mail Boxes Etc. store is very nasty. The first time I went in to ship a small package, I started asking him some questions, and he told me in a nasty tone of voice that I was talking too much before he'd had his coffee. When my parents took my daughter to ship their suitcases and her boxes for grad school, they got there at 9:00 when the store was supposed to open, and he didn't show up until just after 10:00. When my mother pointed out to him that the sign on the door said they opened at 9:00, he told her in an irritated tone of voice that he had a 4-year-old at home. Then he quoted her a price to ship the suitcases that was double what she had paid to ship the same suitcases from Florida to Newton. When she asked him why so high, he told her his rent was high and he has expenses. My daughter is very experienced with shipping her things overseas for school and filled out the Customs form declaring personal items to be returned to the U.S. of no commercial value. After she left, he wrote a value of $125 on the Customs form, and so she then incurred a fee from British Customs of 24 British pounds. In addition, what he charged her was absurd. We will not be returning to this store. UPDATE 11/23/10 - Just spoke to my daughter who corrected me. The sign does say 10:00 a.m. However, he didn't show up to open the store until 10:30 a.m. The opening time is incorrectly listed on the store's website as 9:00 a.m. See http://www.mailboxesetclocal.com/0508/ Note no explanation for altering the customs form or for double charge from shipping from Boston to Florida identically to how exact same items were shipped Fedex from Florida to Boston.
