"[Member Name Removed], I am sorry if we did not respond to your requests for additional paint. To be honest, I am pretty shocked with your review that you decided to submit almost 5 years after we completed your paint job. We completed your paint job on 8/11/10. On the customer satisfaction form that you signed and filled out, you couldn't have possibly given us higher marks. That includes you stating the job was completed to your satisfaction, that you rated the crew as excellent, that you would refer us to friends, and that we could use you as a reference. I am very sorry if you requested more paint that was not given to you. Each call that comes into our office is recorded and an email verifying the call is sent to us, and I do not have any record of you calling in to any of our numbers. Once again, if there was an error on our end I am truly sorry. Please feel free to call our office at 617-904-9299 or email directly at [email protected]."

We got several estimates and they were the best. They've done so much extra work so I recommend them highly. I will absolutely use them again.

Because the work is all done by subcontractors it is very unpredictable.
The first day only one person showed up, but it wasn't a carpenter, so
he did some scraping and started painting when the siding wasn't really
prepared. Fortunately this allowed me to realize early they had bought
the wrong paint color. I had to go find a local supplier to find the
correct paint color which was a hassle for me. The second day they were
supposed to come at 7am, but no one showed up at all. The company and
team supervisor were very responsive to all calls and concerns, and they
corrected the paint color quickly. They did get the work done and
finished in just 3 days, but the hassle was not worth the low price for
me and ultimately I got what a paid for. A sloppy job with minimal prep
work, lots of drips and lots of paint chips and paint spills in my
garage, walkways, driveway and on brand new window screens and doors.
Blue paint shows through my white trim and overall it just isn't very
professional. Pay a little more for a more certain outcome.

Responded to flyer for $1700 paint job- labor only! Salesman was very good. I almost NEVER sign a contract in my home on the first visit - I usually do extra due diligence - this time I said yes and signed right away. Price increased for full prime, carpentry, and PAINT ($50/ gallon) and other supplies. Job was to start early June. It did not commence until late July. Calls and emails to No Risk were not promptly responded to, if at all. We were to be given a start date prior to work beginning. Work crew just showed up with no one home and started scraping. After this surprise project began -- crew was fabulous and I would welcome them back anytime. Things went wrong like primer was not tinted but onsite crew made necessary adjustments. They (crew of 3) worked 9+ hour days in 98 to 103 degrees. Post job we had excess full gallons of paint, it took about six weeks to get a credit from No Risk -- again poor responsiveness from head office. Our contract gives a 5 YEAR warranty against peeling, chalking, etc. We hope to never use it but if we do I hope No Risk will be easier to deal with. Not sure if would use again or not. CREW absolutely yes, No Risk probably but only after some assurances.

I had a great experience with the work that was completed.  I was not aware they used subcontractors, with that said Sandro Souzo and his crew that completed the work were fantastic.  I have never seen 4 men work so hard, getting the work done in record time. They were very accommodating and professional.  I am very pleased with the work and would have Sandro back any day.

It pealed within six months.   They company didn't have the same phone number when we tried to contact them after the pealing started.

"First off please accept my apologies as we are not trying to hide from any warranty related issues. When we moved offices we were unable to keep all of our numbers. We would be happy to come out and inspect your home and if it falls under your warranty we will get it fixed this season. I had given my cell phone and email number to your husband when we started work and that has not changed (nor has our website). Please feel free to contact us and we can send someone out to take a look at the house at a time that is convenient for you (617-904-9299). Jamie"

We chose No Risk Painting mainly because they got so many great reviews on Angie's list. When we first contacted them, we liked their warranty and their responsiveness, so we signed on.  We didn't realize that they don't do any painting themselves -- they're outsourcing the entire job to third-party painting crews. So you basically get a cheap painting crew for a premium price. You would expect that for this extra layer of costs, they add services such as consultation and quality control, but they don't. No Risk didn't show up once to control the quality of the work.
The painters themselves were nice and hard-working, but they took very little time to prepare the old siding for the paint job. They didn't powerwash the siding on the third floor because their ladders were too short. And they removed virtually none of the old paint when scraping.
The next problem was the paint. Our house, which we bought recently, is old and has plenty of imperfections in the siding, which is why the previous owners had it painted in a flat finish. No Risk, after seeing the house, ordered paint in an eggshell finish, saying that's the paint they always use. After the first coat, the house looked like it was painted with a semi-gloss that highlighted every bump. When we asked to have it done in a flat finish, we had to buy the new paint and pay for it on extra. They also refused to apply one more coat of the flat paint.
After finishing, No Risk left us with a pile of old siding, plastic shutters, and two columns that they had replaced during the job, saying debris removal is not part of the contract. One week after they had finished the paint job and collected the check, the knots in the siding that the painters had replace started to bleed, leaving ugly brown spots all over the house. Upon calling No Risk, we were told to take our complaint to the painting crew directly. We haven't heard back since and are considering taking the issue to the Better Business Bureau.

Update: After posting our review on the website of the Better Businesse Bureau, the company owner contacted us immediately and came over to review the work. He agreed on most of the contentious points and had the crew come back. They did clean up what was left (we had disposed most in the meantime) and fix a whole that was covered with chicken wire and previously not been fixed. They also painted over the knots again, but it didn't make much of a difference, presumably because they didn't use the right primer. Jamie, the owner, really made an effort, but the quality of the work just isn't great.

Overall, the experience with NRP was thoroughly satisfying. This was a complicated job. The house is a massive, 18th-century colonial, converted to condominiums (3 units) in the 1980s. All unit owners are busy professionals with demanding schedules and high expectations. Jamie, the owner of NRP, bent over backwards to accommodate our schedules and our requirements related to documentation (certificate of liability insurance, evidence of workers' compensation, detailed estimate and invoice, etc.). The job went quickly and smoothly. The crew members were exceptionally professional, courteous to the unit owners and conscientiously cleaning up at the end of each day. The crew supervisor routinely provided updates on the progress of the job. When the job was done, the crew replaced the storm windows and screens, removed all debris, raked the landscape setting around the house, and power-washed the deck and patio. We'll definitely be calling these guys again, the next time the house needs painting.

Overall very pleased with work. The house looks very nice. Crew was professional and courteous. The price was the lowest of the estimates that we received. They did leave some scrap materials behind that they had promised to pick up but forgot until I called the office. The company uses a tactic of sending out coupons promising to paint any house for a very low price. They then tell you that the low price does not include priming and that you need priming which will cost more. Nevertheless, the price was still low. I would use them again.

No Risk Painting prepared the existing exterior siding and trim by power-washing, sanding and sealing. I opted for a complete prime and top-coat on the trim and siding (with a 5 year written warranty) rather than a spot-prime and top-coat (3 year written warranty). My siding required a stain rather than latex paint which probably lowered the overall price. Downspouts were not removed, but as my house is less than 10 years old this is not of major concern. However, I did raise this with Customer Services at No Risk Painting and they will discuss it with the painters, who may yet return to remove the downspouts and paint behind them. The fact they were not removed does not affect my warranty. No Risk Painting said they would send me a copy of the insurance and worker's comp. but this has not been received. I did see a copy of these documents when I got my estimate. Shrubs were not always covered with drop-cloths, though front steps and other paved areas close to the house and the deck were protected. There were extremely few paint splashes at the end of the work. When the painters did not detach hoses or clear-up properly after an early paint session I was able to speak to them the next morning about this, and this situation was not repeated. The painters were polite, worked extremely hard in very hot weather and did a great job. I had two other estimates for the same work which were at least $1000 higher. These were also A-listed companies on Angie's List. I ultimately selected the painter by price and warranty as all seemed professional and courteous.

We were looking for a painter to paint the exterior trim on our house in order to get it real estate ready. We found an ad for the company in the mail and gave them a call. They came out fairly quickly to provide a free estimate and left a detailed quote (but I didn't find it for a few days since we don't use the front door much). At first I thought it was a little high but compared to other quotes we received, it was comprable and ended up being cheaper than the other company we were considering.(I gave a B rating for price since I don't like to spend money). $2100 for the labor and $325 for the materials. Once we decided to use them, and after I explained that we needed someone quickly since we want to list the house for sale ASAP, Jamie sent a crew out within 2 days. We figured it was a big job based on all the scraping and trim painting that needed to be done. The crew foreman was professional and courteous and said they would complete the job the same day. Well to our surprise they did! The crew did a great job and cleaned up after themselves. The only issue I encountered was on the quote they included the front stairs to be stained although I did not request it. The stain they picked up was not the existing color, but the trim color. It would not match so I requested them to omit painting the stairs. They did not have any of the porch floor color on hand but the crew foreman had me pick out a new color from their palette. I picked out a color I liked better thean the existing one and he had the floor painted. Overall it was a good experience and were we not moving, I would have had them do the house too.
