When I spoke to the guy at MetroWest Small Engine Repair, I was careful to explain how I had always meticulously maintained my snowblower, and that I had just put in fresh oil and fresh gas, if for no other reason, so I could start the snowblower, to get it onto my truck. He knew I had just replaced the oil and the gas.
When I picked it up two weeks later, I was charged for fresh oil, and fresh gas

Metrowest small engine repair is great! They are fair and do the work in a timely manner. Since having them tune up my snowblower and lawn mower this year I will be going to them every year moving forwards.

The work was done on time, as promised, and they appear to have done a very good job. Labor rate of $72/hour seems a bit steep, but good quality. The work was performed at their store/shop (20 Spring Street, Natick, MA).

Don't even think to go this place. These a bunch of completely unprofessional and non responsible people. It started kinda OK. They agreed to pick up my broken snow-blower from my property, it was beginning of July, some time September I started wandering what is going on. Response - "O, it needs new carburetor it's gonna cost you about $70 ($150 on another call). In the middle of October they called me back and told that they can't fix it because there is no spark! Actually I knew it from the time it went broken, it was the reason I brought it in on the first place - IT would not start because there is no spark.Looks like all these guys can do - replace big and obvious pieces. They have no idea how actually small engine works! No spark - it's not fixable. I would not recommend anybody to go there. You going to waste at least you time. And at the end of the day you end up looking for somebody else to fix you problem (as I'm).
Guys next door, their competitors fixed it in three weeks, and the problem was with the head gasket, nothing wrong with the carburetor at all.
Stay away from this place.
Response from Metrowest Small Engine Repair & Service
"This customer brought a machine that was 35+ years old and in terrible condition. We did a compression check and found that the compression was excellent, so it couldn't have been the head gasket or the compression on the machine would have been very low. The machine did have spark; the carburetor was the issue. We treated him as we treat any of our customers, giving our expert assessment of their property. Sometimes machinery is past the point of repair, where one might throw good money after bad as they say. Apparently he felt his machine could be salvaged where we believed any repairs made to his property might be followed by many more problems down the road, ultimately costing him an inordinate amount of money, considering the age and condition of the machine. We tried to be honest with him, but apparently he didn't feel we had his best interest at heart. Our number one consideration when we take in machinery is giving the customer the most honest answer, and saving money whenever possible. In addition, we are highly skilled and qualified, turn around equipment in a timely fashion and enjoy repeat business from many satisfied customers. Just ask our hundreds of happy customers in the Natick area. We're certainly glad he found someone to repair his machine. I hope he was more polite to the second group who repaired his snow blower."

My local repair shop had a significant backlog of work, and with a forecast for a weekend snow storm, I needed my snow blower operational in a hurry. Metrowest came out promptly to pick up the machine and ultimately returned it in good wroking order in time to handle the snow storm. My only complaint with Metrowest was that I had a hard time getting a status update once they had my machine. It took numerous messages over several before I received a call back to let me know what was happening.

The above cost includes the pickup and delivery charges, which I consider very reasonable.
