I called Master Chimney Sweepers to get an estimate on repointing my chimney. Matt came by to look it over and quoted a price then and there. He also explained that the entire chimney did not need to be repointed and that he would do from the roof line up.
I checked with a couple of other companies to see what they said and one said the entire chimney should be done and it would cost almost double what Master quoted. The third company I called asked me to email photographs of the chimney and he'll take a look at it. (Quite frankly, this is not the way to do an estimate.) I didn't need to worry since this company never got back to me.
I let Master know I wanted them to do the work. Matt came out on the scheduled day, right on time, and got to work. He spread a tarp on the roof and cleaned up afterwards. He even hosed off the roof when finished. He did a great job. The next day, looking at the completed work with binoculars, I thought I saw some gaps between the bricks. I called the office and asked them to get Matt to call me back, which he did the next morning. He explained that what I was looking at was a metal brace inserted through the chimney to secure it to the side of the house. I'm very happy with his work and the responsiveness of the company.

I got one price first and then a second price after they were done. I was told that it was going to be $299. They charged me $399. Then, when I called in, the guy told me that I could never have been quoted that price because that's not what they charge. He took $50 off.

Nick was technician and did a great job. Explained what we had and gave good advice about the particulars of our fireplaces, several of which are joined. Clear explanations, friendly service and appears to be quality work as well. Would recommend them in a heartbeat. Total cost was for 2.5 hours = $280/hr, which seems rather pricey, but I was satisfied with the work and don't have much to compare pricing to.

They were honest and straightforward. Had been "cold contacted" by another chimney company who told me I needed $6500 worth of repairs and that my gas hot water heater might cause my house to blow up if it was not fixed. Master Chimney Sweepers did the same inspection and said my hot water heater was okay at the moment; could be made better but changes were not imminent and their pricing was far less.
