My tapes were in rough shape with damage from being stored in a damp basement for approx 40 years. Luis transferred these tapes to dvd to the best quality possible considering their condition. The sound which was very poor and barely audible on the original tapes is much improved on the digital transformations. Thank you Luis.

Luis is great. He gave me very good advise, clearly describing the options and steering me away from buying more expensive hard drives for my family that would be harder to work with across Windows and Mac devices. The video quality is good, and Luis completed the work in a timely manner. I was also MUCH more comfortable giving my invaluable family movies to a person (in Natick) that I met with rather than mailing them to a video processing center Luis used to do the video transcription for Play It Again Video in Needham and even recognized a tape he converted 10 years ago to another format. He has lots of equipment for different video formats and has been doing video transcription for 10-20 years. Some of the national video production services send projects to Luis when they don't have expertise in specific video formats. Luis is also a great person, and I really enjoyed working with him

Excellent!  I had forgotten what a rotten filmer i was in the '70s but the nostalgia is really fun.

Luis was incredibly helpful and responsive.  On a whim, my son came up with the idea to have all of our 8mm home movies transferred to dvd so that we could surprise everyone when we gathered at Christmas.  These were home movies of great grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins and parents, many of whom have passed away.  We called Luis about a week and a half before Christmas never expecting (but hoping) that it would be possible.  At the very least we thought we would do it and have it done after Christmas.  Luis went above and beyond listening to four of us in his office as we explained what we wanted. This was not an easy task since we all are a bit controlling and opinionated. He gave us an estimate and the actual bill actually came in a little less. We were so nervous about leaving them.  He was incredibly patient and informative and made us feel comfortable right away. Amazingly he got it all done and we picked them up on Christmas eve day.  They came out awesome.  He delivered exactly what he promised and then some.  On Christmas day we quietly put the DVD in and about 22 family members gathered in the living room, captivated by the images on the TV.  Thank you Luis for making our Christmas so special!!

He did a great job. The tape was old and had been damaged in our VCR. The conversion to DVD was flawless and I was so happy to preserve the footage of my children when they were young. I would highly recommend HDV Studio!

He explained everything very thoroughly. We had to come back a couple of times and he was able to complete everything by our deadline, which was Christmas. He personally dropped them off at our house once it was completed.

It went great, they did an excellent job. I would recommend to a friend and use them again. I was happy to find someone local so I didn't have to put my tapes in the mail and risk losing them.

Excellent.  I took him about 18 tapes to test him out. 
Work was high quality.  That was most important to me. 
The price estimate was significantly lower than anything else I found.  The cost was then even less than the initial estimate because he was able to combine more of the tapes than he originally thought. He then charged me even less because the combined length of several tapes was less than an hour. I did not ask for this discount nor know it was available. 
He called if their were questions about how to proceed, e.g., when he found unexpected things on tapes and wanted to know if I wanted them on the DVDs.
In total I've brought him more than 50 tapes.  I highly recommend him.

I decided to transfer our wedding video (which was on VHS) to a DVD as a surprise for my husband for our anniversary.  I researched a number of places (through Angie's list and friends) and ended up with Luis.  He was so incredibly wonderful to deal with.  First off, he has a tremendous amount of knowledge in this area and knows just how to help.  But, more importantly, he works for himself and cares about his business and his customers and so he really tries to listen to what you are trying to achieve.  I feel I got such a high level of personalized service and he wasn't trying to "up-sell" me - he gave me his honest opinion about what would be the best approach for me.  The DVD turned out great - good quality and he even put chapters in which was SUCH a good decision so we could easily navigate through the ceremony and reception.  I ended up getting two copies (in case one scratches, which is why the price is a little higher).  Overall, I had a fabulous experience and am recommending him to all of my friends!

Luis converted several homemade VHS tapes to digital formats for my wife and I as well as several musical casset tapes/recordings todigital formats as well.  Luis was prompt and prfessional in his communications, clearly communicated what he could do for us, the time it would take and the approximate cost.  Luis completed the conversion within time and cost budgets and the quality is good.  I would use Luis and his services again.

I had many reels of my father's 8 mm movies transferred to DVD.  Luis was professional, easy to deal with, very clear about his pricing (which compared favorably with others I found online) and process, and punctual.  He is clearly very knowledgeable.  The result was great, and I have now been able to view 30 years of old movies for the first time in years.  I would absolutely use HDV again, and probably will, to have my old VHS "home movies" transferred to DVD

I had three rolls of 30 - 40 year old 8 millimeter home movies and wanted to transfer them to dvds. I did see the mivie last year, but I still wasn't sure if the transfer could even be done--if they were damaged or just too old,etc. Mr. Reis responded to my e mail inquiry right away. He was very professional and reassuring. He also let me know that there may be parts of the film that might be too over- or under-exposed, and he would do the best he could to rectify that. He asked my permission to clean and edit the reels where needed and if I wanted music or titles with the dvds. He gave me a very reasonable written estimate (I had researched costs). The dvds were ready when he said they would be and the price was actually less than he had quoted. The dvd was wonderful--and to top it off, there were some parts in in that I did not remember being on the film. Mr. Reis really did get the film cleaned up!

It went well. He performed all the work required, and was very nice as well as easy to work with. He delivered everything on time, and was willing to work with me on saturdays and in the evenings. He has a good set up of equipment. When I did the actual presentation of the DVD movie in front of about 30 family members, they all had tears in their eyes in the end. Luis did a very good job!

HDV was excellent to work with. Their pricing was very competitive and accurate. They explained the potential issues that may occur when dealing with old film that had not been stored correctly. They met the time frames we discussed and put in extra effort to ensure all the sound was captured from the old film.
