his clients' time and budgets. I would definitely recommend to a
friend.
Excellent. After a week, we have had no more pipe hammer when closing any faucet or run the toilets.
As the shower control looked fine when he checked it, it seems that the excessive water pressure also was affecting our shower temperature. After the new valve was in, the water temp in the shower has been fine.
Gary didn't waste any time and zeroed right in on our problem. I would recommend him.
My residence was built in 1971, and I have lived here since 1976. The heating system was then a 4-zone gas-fired hot water system. It operated with a single pump with 4 Taco zone valves, each of which was controlled by a separate thermostat. The system had the useful advantage of being able to provide heat without using electricity if the power went out. (You simply released the zone valves, and pushed a manual-automatic control on the aquastat to "manual" , and a thermopile would flame up the gas jets. Yiou now had gravity heat (but not thermostatically controlled). It would take time to distribute the heat, but it would work until you set the control to "automatic."
Toward the end of its service life, it became apparent that the system needed replacing. While my records do not go back that far, it was likely in 2005 that Gary Brown replaced the system. The newer unit had 4 smaller and separate pumps without the need for zone valves. Gary's installation was much neater, and has performed well ever since. (Gary explained that it needed to have an electric power supply to operate, as units that operated without power were no longer being made. Indeed, when we replaced the stove in a kitchen re-do, the oven also required electricity to function. But we don't lose power often, but if we did, I acquired a generator to meet the need.) I think that replacement cost was about $5000, which I considered reasonable.
I recite this because I have used other plumbers before with somewhat less satisfaction. A neighbor recommended B&W as being a capable and reliable plumber, and I have done so approximately for about 15 years, with great satisfaction. When the main bathroom started disintegrating in perhaps 2006, he, along with others who provided capentry and electrical services remodelled the bathroom with great skill.
Gary is both capable and reliable and I can recommend him to any one who wants quality work. He never sold me anything I didn't want or need. I regard his work as fairly priced.
