i left a message for Rich Adams on 10/15/13 to install two garage doors and two garage door openers.  he called back immediately and we set up an appt that same morning.  rich told me that either he or Larry McLaughlin (sic) does the work; doors would  be air tight and that if Larry does the installation he inspects the job once it's completed.  Rich left a proposal for $2,400.  On 10/22 Rich came to my house to discuss what i wanted and I accepted his proposal. He told me that the doors had to be ordered and would take three weeks to come in; he also asked for a 50% deposit.  Later that day, Rich called my cell phone and said that if i gave him an extra $350 to cover all his costs he would take $300 off the total to now be $2,100 instead of $2,400.  I agreed and on 10/23 Rich picked up his check for $1,550.  Three weeks later I called Rich and he got back to me telling me that the doors were in and he would be back to install the doors the week of Nov. 18.  On 11/22 after many calls to Rich's cell and office, Larry called me and we set up an appt. to do the installation at 9:00 on 11/26.  Larry never showed up, nor did he or Rich answer my many calls to find out what happened.  On Dec. 5, I check up on Rich including going to the door distributor.   What a coincidence(!!!) approximately two hours after my checking on Rich, Larry called and wanted to install the doors the next day.  On 12/6 Larry came, installation completed.   On 12/12 Rich came to show me how to work the garage door openers and reset the code.  He told me that Larry installed the doors properly.  I showed Rich that I could see light and feel cold air coming in from the panel sides of the door and also from the outside weather stripping. Rich said the door panel insulation needed replacing; he would call the door manufacturer and that he would also replace the outside weather stripping during the week of 12/16.  Rich never showed up to do the work nor did he answer my many calls to find out when he would finish the job.  After January 5, i gave up calling Rich realizing he wasn't going to answer my calls nor finish the job.

Rich was very responsive when I called.  Our garage door was not going up and down appropriately.  To go up, someone had to push it. The cables needed to be replaced and he suggested that the springs be replaced as well because they had never been touched since we moved into the house (over 12 years ago) and I was pretty sure they were the originals and thus had been there 26 yrs.  If a spring were to fail, it could snap and seriously injure someone.  I had him do the second garage door as well for the same reason.  As a parent with kids in and out of the garage all the time, I did not want to worry about that.  He also answered some other questions I had and told me to call if anything came up.  Great guy; a pleasure to deal with.  I would recommend Adam's door to anyone:  My neighbor recommended him to me.

Rich was great. He came over earlier in the week to check what parts he needed. He showed up on time, started working and let us know when he was finished. He took the care and time to make sure the doors were working as they should, set our remotes, replaced and reset whatever needed to be done. I don't expect to need him in for another 10 years but would certainly recommend him.

I hired them for the work after I found them on Angie’s List. He is very responsive and correctly fixed the issue so that there won’t be a problem in the future. He did a really good job with the service. I am very satisfied with his work.

When you look out the window, you see a former ambulance pull up and you know everything is going to be great.  These  guys are a Rescue Team for sure!  On very short notice Mr. Adams fit me in so I could get to my plow before snow storm... Arrived early and in a great mood, ready to start the day (despite the fact that it was 14 degrees out.  He  and his co-worker were thoughtful, considerate, fun, and definite keepers.  They did a fairly major  overhaul in an hour, had everything they needed on the truck despite the fact that they didn't know what issues they would come across.  They were so sweet, professional and funny, it made me want to break the door all over again, just to have them back! <Very Big Grin>... dont' worry, I didn't!  Oh, another amazing thing.  The door is as quiet as a mouse.  It  used to sound like a train on a clickety clackety track every time I pressed the button.  I live in a house built in the 1700's.  I've had a LOT of folks here to repair things in the last 30 years.  These guys definitely set the bar high. I am grateful to the other reviewers on Angie's List who rated him so high.  Having read the glowing reports, I knew he would be fantastic.  He was even better than I hoped, and incredibly reasonable price for all he did, the travel, and for working in freezing temperatures. Don't hesitate for a second to call him, you'll wonder what took you so long!

Rich was scheduled to come on a Friday afternoon.  He was several hours late because of an emergency that absorbed most of his work time that day.  He did stop in long enough to evaluate the problem and make sure the door was functional--the fact that he stopped by at all on a very difficult day was, to me, above and beyond the call of duty.  We agreed on the work to be done.  He returned the following Tuesday and did a complete overhaul of the garage door opening system, which had not been serviced in 15 years.  One of the cables had broken, and my husband did his best to repair it, but ran into trouble without the right length of cable.  Joe set everything to rights.  I am very pleased with his service and his professionalism, under difficult circumstances. The door is working smoothly, and I will be sure to call Rich the next time I need to have the door serviced.  I am a very satisfied customer.

Rich is a terrific guy who seems to enjoy his work.  His commitment to customer satisfaction is obvious.  The work was done cleanly and efficiently.  Everything works beautifully. He did a lot of little things as well, such as leave me with lubricant to keep the system running smoothly.  That was all out of his pocket and built into his price, but it added a first class touch to the service.  Even better, because I was not able to be there when the work was completed, he offered to return to demo everything and program the internal remote in my daughter's car to work the doors.   I do not expect to ever need another garage door repaired, but if I do, I am calling Adams Door Service.

After one of our garage door springs broke, we called Rich Adams based on the reviews on Angie's List.  We couldn't be more pleased with Rich and his work.  He answered the phone himself and was able to come to our house within the hour.  He replaced the broken spring, and also the other three which were the same age.  He completed the work promptly and professionally, and charged us less than his initial estimate.  Rich is a very nice guy and does quality work.  I recommend him without any hesitation.

Gregarious, thoroughly professional, knowledgeable, helpful, and cost conscious, Rich Adams' Adams Door Service will be very hard to beat.  Rich, himself, does the work, as well as handling phone contact and setting up the appointment.  We'd lost our garage door opener after an electrical storm and a power surge that fried the circuit board.  I'd originally thought I'd need a new door opener, but Rich was quick to locate a burnt out circuit board.  He then offered to "give" me a used one he had, free of charge.  He also replaced all my old, 25 year old metal rollers with brand new nylon ones, cleaned the tracks, sprayed them with a product he had that he said was more efficient than WD-40 (which he ALSO did not charge me for), repaired a broken bracket on the door, pointed out problems with my pulleys and cables (originals that were also 25 years old), showed how they'd been mounted incorrectly by Sears 6 years ago and offered to re-do those as well.  I thought I was looking at maybe $250-300 minimum, but Rich quoted me at $190.  I'd noted he offers senior discounts and he said "Are you also a veteran?" (which I am) and he gave me a 2nd discount.  The whole nine yards cost $150 total and I made a good friend who is also among the three best contractors I've ever employed.  You simply CANNOT go wrong with Rich Adams and Adams Door Service.  If you have an electric garage door opener, even if you don't need service now, bookmark this guy for future reference.  He is simply the best there is and I've thoroughly reviewed ALL the A rated garage door guys here on Angie's List.  Thank you, Rich!  WELL DONE!!!!

Adams Door Service and Rich Adams are a class act. I called the company when I thought I had a broken spring. He got back to me within a few hours and scheduled a time early the following morning. When he came in, he found that the pulley mechanism had somehow gotten unhooked. It took him 10 minutes or so to put it back together and test it. I expected to pay for his time but was pleasantly surprised when he didn't charge for the service, saying that he hoped we'd have him back when we needed real work on our garage doors. Needless to  say, I have his card and plan to call him for maintenance service and repair moving forward. He earned a delighted customer today and I hope I can reward his professionalism in a material way in the future.

After all problems were taken care of, the door never worked better. I am very satisfied with his work, and would not hesitate to engage his service again. He is very personable and takes the time to explain every step of his work. I highly recommend his service to others.

My garage door opener, probably 20 years old, was becoming less and less responsive to the remote. Richard Adams determined that it needed a part, which he had and installed. He did not try to sell me a new opener. 
He also examined and lubricated the the garage doors and did a few extras. Now I can open the door from the end of the driveway with my remote control. Thanks!

At first, the old garage door opener failed and the garage door could not open or close automatically (only manually). I called Richard, he showed up on time on a short notice. He gave us some options and explained the cost and the time needed to do the work. He then came another day (I think it must have within 1-2 days after he came for the damage inspection) and installed the new garage door opener along with an assistant. There were no issues with the installation. He also got rid of the old, electrical wiring that was hanging all over the garage and installed new wiring that was nicely installed so that it is not visible to the eye. The new opener (belt)  is definitely much less noisy than the previous (chain) and was worth the extra cost.
A few days after the installation, one of the springs broke and I asked him to come back to see if this is related to his work. He explained that he had not touched the springs when he installed the new garage opener and this was a completely different issue, which made sense to me. He installed new springs the next day at the cost of the parts only. He also installed new insulating material around the door for better weather protection for free (he did not want to charge for that). Again he showed up on time and delivered the work on schedule.
Overall an excellent experience. 

Found the Angie's list reviews accurate and matched our experience. Arrived on time, properly diagnosed why doors went off track, returned later with needed parts, reprogrammed doors, and checked with my wife before signing off on the job completed. Would definitely use him again as his name is on the line and he takes pride in a job well done

I described the problem to Rich and he gave me an estimate over the phone.  He stopped by the next day to pick up the broken spring and took it to a shop to get an exact replacement (I replaced both springs since if one broken the second is about to go soon - they have approximately the same life expectancy).  The next day he brought the new springs and it took him about an hour to install those. He also checked and lubricated the rest of the system.  He was exactly on time for both of the appointments and did not try to sell me anything extra.
I think that the price for the service was fair.

Rich arrived spot on time.  He was friendly and engaging.  Listened
carefully to my problem and my questions.  Identified the issues,
discussed them with me, gave me an estimate on the spot.  He then did
the work, gave me some very helpful tips on maintaining the garage doors
and the machinery, and gave me an invoice that was directly in line
with his estimate.  I could not be more satisfied, and would highly
recommend Adams Door Service.

Before commencing the work, Rich went into great detail to explain what the problem was and the options available to me for rectifying it - repair and replacement options.  Once we had an agreement - he came during the storm on 3/8, as per schedule and completed his work. 
He accomplished all the tasks I note above; and I would recommend him without any reservations because:
1.) Very professional, on time, on budget and excellent quality of workmanship
2.) He is a good man and went the extra mile in customer service.  I trust him.
