General Remodeling
Back in June our HOA hired the contractor to demo and rebuild our front porches on a triple decker. the contract stated that the entire project would take 2 weeks from start date. He stared in mid June and the project is still not completed. From day one he has complained that he was loosing money and would show up 1 or 2 days a week, eventual;y threatning to not come back if we did not give him money before the contract stated. During our negotiations with him we emailed him about certain specifics in regards to the colums, ceiling and level of trim. Below is his answers: Can we expect the same trim level we have now? Boston has a strict criteria to keep aesthetics up to a standard. The porches will resemble pretty much what they are now. That is why they require an architect and detail prints. What are the colors to be? Both the decking, trim and stairs? As far a decking color, you can pick any color you want, however, all three decks must be the same color. Railings will be white. Azek railing system. Stair treads same color as the deck(s) Ceilings will be a vinyl, light blue. Columns squared or tapered? I was going to build square columns. Tapered can be done, but I hadn't priced for that. Ideally to be cost effective, I was going to make them similar to the columns on Mannions house across the street. I can look into my cost for tapered. The project is near completion with the exception of the trim, ( there is none) and we have no railing on bottom 5 stairs and we had one before. There is also a significant gap between to railings and the decking on the second and third floors He now claims he lost to much money and can not finish the project and we have not seen him, for 3 weeks. We have also repeatedly requested the detailed architectural drawing we paid for but to no avail.
