We couldn't be happier with how everything came out! From beginning to end, Richard and John were meticulous, hardworking, and extremely efficient. Reasonable pricing and a pleasure to work with - would definitely recommend!

My place was converted from really needing allot of work to a show place. People walk in and just look with wonder at the transformation. They worked in my place for 2 full weeks and are completely professional and tremendously hard working. if you find anything they will fix it. THEY ARE THE BEST! They caulked ALL of my baseboards and my shower. They addressed stains in my bathroom and ceiling. My bathroom color was not right. Richard went to the paint store and got the color correct. I have new Maple Andersen 400 woodright windows and worried about them because they were so expensive.. They cleaned, sanded and polyurethaned my windows and were super careful as they were with everything. I cannot say enough GOOD things about them. just so you know. Richard is a man of few words. After you call him, he will come to your house, write the contract and send it to you. He will appear at 8AM on the promised date, even if it is weeks in advance. I LOVE MY PLACE. One more thing. He also is the painter my condo manager calls to paint our condo

He is a stellar painter who gives a fantastic value. He is very reliable and very hardworking. I don't even bother bidding jobs out any more. I just ask Rich what he'll charge...he's always fair.

It took them about six weeks.  Best painters I have worked with.  Really good guys.  They are price comparative to everyone else.  It was worth what we paid and I feel we got more than what we paid for.

Did great work but only assigned one person to do the whole house so it took a very long time.

We have been using Richard for 20 or 25 years. His service is always fantastic with high quality workmanship. He takes care of every detail in a kind, courteous and thoughtful manner. His scraping and prep work are amazing. The last time he painted for us it lasted for 11 years (we probably should have done it over a year earlier but waited). He has redone things for us, searched for shutters to match our old ones, repainted (without complaint) when I didn't like the color and is generally a really quality painter. He did some faux painting for a friend of mine and it came out great.
His pricing is good and came up and finished up when the painter our General Contractor was using gave us a ridiculously high price for some small work. Fair, honest, competent and nice. You can't ask for more.

Richard Allen's quote was below another contractor by 15% and the higher quote did not include full primer coat, only scraping and priming spots.
After the quote and before painting, we did a walk-around with Mr. Allen and discovered the small amounts of rotting on the base of the porch columns and the one basement window frame. Mr. Allen quickly offered to repair those wooden areas with no increase in price.
Mr. Allen's painter started and completed the entire job with no breaks; i.e. he came every day until the job was finished.
Each night and on weekends, the ladders, paint, and equipment were stored in a corner of the yard behind the house covered with a tarp. Very unobtrusive.
Window frames, where butting with the brick, were calked where necessary. Some minor repairs were done to the soffit and trim. See pictures.
Mr. Allen recommended a light semi-gloss to give the final coat a bit of "punch" and the result was fantastic. A lively color but, in no way, glaring or gaudy.
Mr. Allen did the minor repairs during the time that his painter was painting.
We are very pleased with the work.
N.B. Mr Allen did some interior painting for us about 10 years ago, both plaster and interior door and window frames. Beautiful!
Mr. Allen has also done major painting jobs at our church, a Congregational Church in Newton. His work included the high ceilinged sanctuary and the basement fellowship hall, both rooms a challenge due to high ceilings and detailed trim. Again, his prices were noticeably lower than other contractors and his quality has always been very high. And he is very easy to work with.
N.B. he does not use email or electronic communication but is very responsive via voice mail. Note also that getting him to respond to come give a quote sometimes takes a week or two. He is very responsive once the quote is signed but not so quick to return calls for potential business. However, given a choice, I like the responsiveness during a job.

Richard is a soft spoken Irishman. He brought in another excellent painter, John, and then he himself did the finishing touches it was 3 and 1/2 day job. Came out great and they were very accomodating even though we were unsure of colors.

Came on time and worked hard throughout the day. They also did some repairs on rotting wood. An overall great experience.

Richard wrote out an estimate, came on time, was pleasant to work with, and finished in a timely manner.

Recently, some of the paint on my window sashes started peeling. I called him to tell him (over two years after the painting project was completed) and he said that he would be over to fix the paint, no problem. That is what I call amazing service.

He and his workmen are meticulous. They leave everything cleaner than they found it. They do an excellent job. He came in right on or under his estimate each time I used him. He is easy to work with. I have recommended him to others.
