He had evaluated the basement leak earlier in the week, and gave me an estimate for the work. We agreed on the start date, and signed the contract prior to starting. He started on the third floor and worked his way to the basement. He was assisted by his son who is a carpenter. The drain was located and exposed in each kitchen and removed in sections. They made as few and small holes as possible. The cast iron pipe removed was clearly clogged and showed other signs of potential leaks. The drain was replaced from top to bottom, using PVC. The insulation was replaced in the walls, and where there had been none, installed in that stud bay. The holes were covered with sheet rock, taped, and covered neatly with joint compound. Cabinets that had been removed were replaced properly. He corrected a vent stack attachment that had been missing in the basement. He was always willing to describe what he was doing and why. When there was a choice to be made, he consulted me. I was present the entire time. It was a big project, taking about 12 hours. He was responsive to my request that the work be completed that day. They vacuumed and swept the debris and removed the bags.

He was responsive and was very good at getting back to me. He spent a lot of time with me and gave me a lot of advice. He gave me a lot of information on energy efficient heating system that he might be able to install. The quality of his work was good and I was satisfied with his service.

I thought he was wonderful. I appreciated the fact that he called to let me know that his previous job had taken longer than expected; he said he'd be about twenty minutes late, and ended up only being fifteen minutes late. He didn't try to do more work than what needed to be done. He said that the disposal was only a minor issue and actually only charged me for the work on the toilet, although I did insist on paying him for the work on the sink, as well. I was very happy with the service. He had the opportunity to lie to me and charge me for a disposal that I did not need, but he didn't. He told me that I did not need a new one. He didn't take advantage of me. He was honest.

We had used Bruce for two small jobs including replacing old drainage pipes and installing a new gas dryer. Bruce's craftsmanship is top-notch and he obviously cares about his work. It was a no-brainer to call him when we were ready to replace our ancient 1900 boiler with a new, efficient one. The whole job was done inside 2 weeks and Bruce worked consistently to get it done quickly before the cold weather came, but was also methodical in making sure everything was done right. We are proud to have such a good looking system, and not to mention effective. We used the heat loan program and Bruce was very cooperative in providing all necessary paperwork. He is also just a pleasure to have around the house with his keen observational skills and useful advice.

Bruce is very knowledgeable and easy to work with. Although he's not a morning person, and shows up relatively late in the morning, he will also stay and work until 8-8:30pm, which in our case was completely acceptable. There was no cement under the old water heater, and he went to HD and got cement and some yard edging and made a cement footing while he was working on something else. Cleaned up his work every day. A little difficult to schedule the actual job in the beginning, but I think he was on vacation. Provided detailed advice about (our next project) some random pipes on the ceiling in the kitchen (!) we found while working there. Would definitely hire again for future jobs.

I had a great experience. Bruce was responsive - he called back within an hour of my initial message. He showed up exactly when he said he would and I liked that he didn't use a window of time like some other plumbers. He was very courteous and professional. I thought the price was very reasonable. He charged a $100 flat fee and $15 for a part (nice that he did not inflate the price of the part). It was also obvious that he values his relationship to Angie's list and its members. My job was a pretty small one but I would definitely recommend him and intend to use him again in the future for my plumbing needs.

Associated Plumbers (aka Bruce Thorton) is a pleasure to work with. I had scheduled an appointment for Thursday 6/25 but I actually wrote it down wrong on my calendar for Wednesday. I called Wednesday asking where he was, and he calmly told me that he thought it was set for Thursday (he was right). Anyway, he said he'd be here in a half hour. Before walking in the house, he slipped on a pair of cloth show-covers which is an excellent touch which shows he is considerate. He checked out the garbage disposal and chatted just enough to make me feel comfortable while not getting carried away. He identifying the problem but needed a special screw to fix it up. The next day he got the right part, came by on schedule, and called before he showed up. It was fixed in minutes and he charged me his minimum rate of $125 MINUS an Angie's List discount of $25. He also performed some extras based on what he saw. He loves Angie's List customers and even has an Angie's List sticker on the back of his professional looking van. Make you tell him when you call. If you are in the area, he is great. He is now our offical "plumbing guy" and a nice guy too. I wish more plumbers were like this.

Great Deal and great service! I called Associated Plumbing on a Friday evening and I actually got a an answer from a live person. She took down my problem and Bruce called me back a few minutes later. He agreed to come by and check out my toilet leak the next day (Saturady). When Bruce came to my home on Saturday, I thought my leak was comming from the base of the toilet bowl and Bruce immediately saw that the leak was comming from the tank instead. This saved me alot of time and money from the start because the bowl didn't end up having to be removed. I was only charged the minimum rate of $100 for Angies Members minus $25 for being a first time customer, which ended up only costing me $75. Most Plumbers will charge alot more just to come out then start charging you by the hour. I would recommend, Associated Plumbing to anyone who is looking for a high quality, very reasonably priced plumber who is courteous, answers all questions, and is honest.

Bruce was professional and responsive right from the start. I called him to check his price against another plumber to install a new hot water heater. He immediately offered to come to my place and explore the options available. He came out on a Saturday and we discussed at length both at the residence and over the phone, the options available. I wanted the most energy efficient model I could find and was pleased to find out, Associated Plumbers are one of the few green plumbers in the area. Bruce has had special training out of state to become a green plumber. When he arrived, he thought he could potentially get the water heater working again as a short term solution until the new water heater arrived. The energy efficient models are not stocked locally so it would have to be special ordered. Needless to say I wasn't going to be happy without hot water for weeks. If he couldn't have fixed the existing unit then I would have to use an in stock model. It took two trips, but Bruce responded very quickly and was on site within hours to get the water heater running again. I should say that the first plumber I called, who took a look at the unit, said that it was shot and didn't offer any solutions on how to fix it. I thought Bruce was very accommodating to my needs and I was pleased when he said he thought he could get it working again at least for the short term. He even suggested tapping off my neighbor's hot water supply in the meantime which I thought was a creative solution; the first plumber didn't suggest that. I have to say that I am probably not the typical customer as I usually don't want to go with the standard model and in this case I wanted a more green option. I also usually come with a ton of questions. Bruce was very responsive and patient and helped me do the research. On top of this, his rates are very reasonable. At this point, I am waiting for the new hot water heater to arrive and I still have hot water from the existing unit in the meantime. Bruce will install the new heater when it comes in. I would highly recommend Bruce for any plumbing job and he will be the one I call first in the future.

Overall, Bruce went over and above the work provided. He replaced the damaged drain pipe with PVC piping. As for the sewage pipe, he was able to cut out the affected section and replace with like material (cast iron). He cleaned up the area checked plumbing throughout the house and brought up to code where feasible. I would hire Associated Plumbers for future projects in my home. I have already passed on his name to several of my friends and associates. You will not be disappointed with this company.

Bruce was/is great! During our estimate gathering phase he was the only one of six plumbers we contacted who left me with a solid sense that he not only knew what we wanted done, but also HOW he was going to do it. His estimate was competitive and honored to the penny. He was always punctual, and even offered this semi-do-it-your-selfer a few tips that saved us headaches with other aspects of the project. His interactions were always very personable and he did a tremendous job (at a few unexpected extra hours of his time on his dime) of tying our new bath into an existing vent that he found, which saved us an extra hole in the roof. He was also very patient with how long it took me to do all of the finish work required for the final inspection even though that was holding up his final payment. I even found him clearing a slow drain in the upstairs bath that caught his eye as he was cleaning up at the end of one day. Can't say enough nice things. We'd use him again in a minute !

Bruce was a huge help from start to finish. He noticed a second vent stack which greatly reduced the cost of the job and still allowed the plumbing to be brought up to snuff. He did great work, worked well on his own, was trustworthy, and reliable. His price was very reasonable and he always got back to us promptly about issues. In one case, he made a special trip back to turn on the pilot for a water heater, as we were in and out, working on the house while not living there, once he found out we were back in the house. Also offered to move some laundry lines for us and hook up and additional couple fixtures in the bathroom FOC.

Bruce responded to my call the same day, came out to look at it the next day, and did the work the following day (He was actually done with the work before I could get an electrician to return a call). He was pleasant, and worked well with a dog and toddler being around. His work looks well done, and he pointed out a few potential issues in our plumbing and gave me a few tips on cleaning our boiler. Overall I am very satisfied with that job he has done both in quality of work and his responsiveness.

We have been thoroughly pleased with Bruce s work to date. Throughout the project, Bruce has exhibited a sensitivity to the demands of remodeling a 100-year-old structure and a willingness to work with me to keep costs down and finish each task in a timely manner. On two separate occasions, he uncovered obstacles to completing the work as initially planned: a bearing wall that had suffered serious damage at the hands of previous plumbers and a buried waste pipe of questionable structural integrity. In both cases, he spent the extra time and effort to do the job right, at no additional cost, where another plumber might have cut corners or renegotiated the contract. Bruce is an experienced professional, a thoughtful planner, a skilled craftsman, and a genuinely nice guy. He clearly takes pride in the quality of his work - a value that is increasingly rare in the trades. I would recommend him without reservation for a plumbing project of any size or complexity.

We couldn't be happier with Ed. We never thought we'd get WW2-era plumbing completely replaced and all this work done for anywhere near $4000. If we have any more plumbing needs, we will be certain to insist on Ed.

Ed came out on a Saturday and un-hooked our old dishwasher. He told me to page him when the new dishwasher was delivered. He came back promptly when I paged him. He did a great job hooking up the dishwasher, even solving an electrical problem for us. He is very nice and really helpful. We will hire him for all our future plumbing work.
