He would text 5 minutes before and say can't come , on multiple occasions. Tiles in the shower are horrible. Did not finish the job, but he is paid in full with cash.

This experience was a disaster. Our first hint that there were going to be a problem was that it took him over a week to provide us with a written estimate, despite promising to have it to us in three days. Once we agreed to his estimate, he requested a payment of 50% up front. We sent him a check at the end of September, which he promptly deposited October 1, but it took him almost a month to actually show up at our home and begin the work. Over that month he continually lied and made excuses about when he was going to start and why he could not start on the date he scheduled and seemed to become more comfortable with each delay. He also vetoed several tile choices we made because it was too difficult for him to install (he claimed that he had never heard of anyone installing glass tile in a shower and refused to do it; he also forced us to choose a different tile for our shower floor because he claimed that the 3"x3" tile we had chosen was too large). Once he finally began working he never showed up for more than 4 hours at a time. The excuses and delays continued and after 2 weeks of no shows and 1 day of work, he finally dropped off the tile we had ordered weeks before. After his second day of working, he requested an additional payment of $500 (this was after lying to us for over a month and only spending approximately 8 hours working on our job). After we informed him that we would not pay him any more money until the work was completed (the first payment we made covered all of the tile and materials he was supposed to use on the job) he once again made excuses and failed to show up and work on the days he was scheduled to be here. It was at this point that we decided to fire him because we could no longer believe anything he told us and we began to question when the work was finally going to be completed (at this point he still had not laid a single tile). Tony acknowledged that he understood why we were discontinuing his service and tried profess a new accelerated timeline to get the work done which we refused (why would this now be different than our prior month and half of delays?) Tony came by, picked up his tools, acknowledged that he had everything, we paid him for what work had been done and any difference on supplies provided and he went on his way. One week later, he called us back claiming that some of the supplies we had paid for were his - suffice to say we are pursuing the rest of the matter through an attorney. I would not recommend this tile guy to anyone and would warn anyone that hired him to be very wary.
Description of Work: We hired Tony Cimino to install cement board in our shower, to pour the concrete in the shower pan, to waterproof the shower, and to lay ceramic tile on our bathroom floor and in our shower. While he was hired to complete all of this work, he was fired after only completing a portion of the work. In a month and a half, he was only able to install the cement board, waterproof, and pour the cement in the shower pan.
