LOWES

Already filed a complaint with BBB. Horrible service with Lowe's staff, it's general contractor ( our of Holliston), and their workers. Only bright spot was the people from the Curava shower enclosure. First 2 times, vanity top came in cracked, the third delivery okay but contractor held back working on bathroom until delivered, pushing job out 6 weeks- while the final vanity sat in our garage for months! His plumber was unprofessional and cracked the shower enclosure without telling us and put the faucets on backwards in one of the sinks, the list goes on and on. Most of all the coordinator at Lowe's was mostly unresponsive and not helpful at all.

I learned the hard way why big box stores are the not the best when it comes to customer service. They can be competitive on price due to their volume throughput but when it comes to punctuality, customer touch and responsiveness, they fall far short. They never showed up for my floor estimate, they give these huge delivery windows that are not useful, and they respond to complaints but wearing the customer down inside endless phone queues. Their focus is throughput and they sub all their installation and service out to various third parties. It's a crap shoot how reliable these third parties are and since you are one layer removed, the customer is caught between the store and contractor. Local niche businesses may be more expensive but you often get what you pay for.

For anything related to outdoor gear, or anything at Lowe's in general, talk to Chuck. He knows me by name, always asks what I am in for and even if its not in his department he takes me to the area. We have been in Lowe's about 10 times already since our house purchase a month ago and it is because of his service that we keep going back. He always makes great recommendations and helps with any questions we have, and also shows us products on clearance or outgoing models so we can save money. Chuck is great and I will continue going to him everytime I am in Lowe's!

Bill in the carpet department was very helpful through the whole process. We redid 4 bedrooms upstairs in our newly purchased home. Bill was professional, helpful and returned phone calls. He also worked with the third party installer to make sure our appointment was taken care of to our tight deadline we had. Joe was the installer from the third party, I believe based out of Providence. His team was great! Punctual, professional, quiet and quick. Carpet looks and feels great- we checked out a few places locally like we had read to do, but weren't impressed with their knowledge, selection or price. Lowe's was slightly cheaper and I had heard bad things but I am so glad we took the risk! Very happy with the quality, look, price and service we received with our Lowe's carpet purchase. It was about $3500 for 800 sq ft (mid to high grade carpet quality)

I purchased a microwave from Lowes since the local store I normally would go to did not have it in stock. They were very good and I am happy with the service they provided. The staff was very nice and helpful. I was able to get the microwave that day and that was just what I needed. The price was competitive. They did not do the installation, I had someone else to do that.

I always price things at 3 or more stores, with Lowe's and Home Depot being two of them. Usually Home Depot has a better selection and lower prices, but this time Lowe's had the fan we wanted and Home Depot did not, and Lowe's pricing on fans was a bit lower then Home Depot.

We spent about $1000. We had laminate countertops put in. I was here when they took the measurements but my husband was here when they did the work. They had sub contractors to do the job. The sub contractor was fine but the guy from Lowes was not smart. He could not figure out how to spell out things to be done. He would call to check up and all that. We gave up on the guy and worked with the sub contractor. We went with them because of the price. It was not bad. The sub contractor was punctual. He really did a good job. He was 15 minutes late but he called up to say he was going to be late. I would use Lowes but if I ran into that guy again, I would know it and I would refuse to work with him.

The sales people were very good about helping me. I was looking for granite countertops and I felt that they were going to be too expensive, so I was looking into another material. When I spoke with the sales person they told me that the other material was going to be much more expensive, because they were having a sale on the granite countertops and the installation. The designer was very good about explaining things to me and she helped me with all of the paperwork. When they contractor came out to install the granite there was a problem with the material and I immediately called LOWES up and they got everything fixed right away. They worked with the supplier and got everything resolved in a timely manner. Two days later they were back to do the installation. I give them all A's.

Our house is about 142 years old and crooked; one side has settled a little lower than the other and our doorways and floors are a bit off center. That said we knew that when it came time to replace our storm doors we would need a professional to square it off and install properly. Bob at Lowes was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. He arranged for the installer to come out and take the measurements and install the door. Our install ended up being more than the typical install price because of the extra work needed to square off the doorway. The door was installed within 2 weeks of our order. It took the installer about 4 hours from start to finish and it looks beautiful! We could not be more pleased with Lowes and would recommend them over Home Depot to everyone we know!

They were very efficient and knowledgeable and the job were great. Can't say enough good about them.
