The service worked out fine. We lacked an electrical outlet in the garage, and I saw an advertisement on Angie's List, so I contacted him, and he came at the agreed upon time, and he installed the electrical outlets, and there was no problem. He came when he said he would, he did what he said he would, and at the price that he said he would.

He did a nice job and he was competent. I would use him again in the future. I am a little disappointed since I cannot get a hold of him anymore to do further work. He was helpful and his price came in line with the big deal. He came promptly for the appointment.

This review is long overdue.  Julio was professional, on time and did a great job.  He also gave me suggestions for projects down the line which I very much appreciated.

There is nothing he was working on that he was not able to quite finish within 2 hours.  He stayed and finished his work up.  I was just very impressed with his service.  He corrected an outlet in the kitchen itself.

Was a bit frustrating as I had three items on my list; however, some issues with two of them prevented the completion of them.  Wasn't the contractor's fault and he offered sound advice if I wanted to proceed with them in the future.  He was very professional during the whole process.

We recently bought a rental property which we later discovered had problems with water leakage in the basement during heavy rains. The basement was semi-finished, so we had to tear down some cheap wood paneling in order to access the foundation walls and so that we could install a french drain system.
Behind the wood paneling was a spaghetti of 50s-era (cloth-covered) wiring which wasn't up to current code. Since the walls were down, we decided to have all of the old wiring replaced and bring everything up to code.
We got estimates from several contractors. Julio's proposal was not only competitive, but also detailed (one contractor had a single line-item along the lines of "Replace basement wiring"). Julio spelled out every single item he was proposing to do. After deciding which items we did and didn't want to do, we came up with an agreement.
The work was initially supposed to be done a few weeks after we agreed on the proposal, but he was able to find a three-day block in his schedule the week after to do the work. He worked from Friday through Sunday to get all of the work done. Work that he did included:
* replaced all old wiring
* removed all old receptacles and installed grounded receptacles at the proper distances along the walls as required by code
* replace a 60-amp wire to a subpanel with a 100-amp wire (old wire was too small according to current code)
* replaced two smaller subpanels for one apartment with a single larger subpanel
* changed the location of some light switches
* added a new ground wire from the electrical service to the water main
* installed a new light in one corner of the basement
* replaced a backyard/driveway motion-sensing security light (unrelated to basement work)
He couldn't add the new ground wire without turning off service to one of the units. Since the tenant was home, he scheduled a time to come back later in the week after normal business hours to finish the work.
After the initial work, I realized that there were a couple of lights that I wanted consolidated into a single switch (not Julio's fault, we just didn't plan well). When Julio returned to do the grounding work, he rewired the light switches at no extra cost.
We're extremely happy with the quality of the work that Julio did, as well as his hard work and flexibility in terms of scheduling. We'll definitely use his services again in the future for any electrical work we need performed.

Initially had some trouble getting in contact with him after buying Big Deal.  Needed to reach out to Angie's List to get a response.  Afterwards then it was easy working with him.  Responsive and knowledgeable.

He was on time, very professional, and did the work quickly.  We had wanted to rewire my daughter's bedroom so that she had a switched outlet near her bed but for some reason that was too complicated and would have been a bigger project than this Big Deal allowed.

Julio came out shortly after my initial contact, and performed all the jobs with good cheer and obvious knowledge and skill.  I provided most of the fixtures, so cost included labor plus limited basic supplies.  He worked quickly and was clear with me about extras that were add-ons to the Big Deal... so no surprises.  Very warm and friendly fellow who is easy to work with and knows his stuff.

One of the ceiling fans had a smooth installation, no problems at all.  A second had 3 conductor wiring, supplied by me, but required 4 conductor to allow the remote operation to work correctly.  Mr. Rivera pointed this out and gave the option to run the wiring as is, without the remote control or he could get some from a local supplier.  I opted to have him use the wiring as is and we could replace it at a later time.  The 3rd fan installed well and we had the correct wiring, but the fan refused to flow power to the attached lighting unit.  Mr. Rivera diagnosed there was a bad transformer involved.  The GFCI was an outdoor unit which was functional for a few years, but then failed.  He replaced it in under 15 minutes.  The kitchen light switch was also a quick replacement.  Because the fans needed to be mounted and have their ceiling access holes drilled out as well as new wiring in an attic area, the install actually took about 6 hours which was over the course of June 3rd and June 4th.  As installations go, this had only a few bumps in the road.

My project has been a bit of a challenge in that it's been an active ongoing project for over a year.  The renovations have been occuring in phases and broken out in sections.  In spite of the added challenges, Julio did a great job.  Julio is a hard worker.  He's also a very kind and trustworthy person.  There have been many occasions where he's come in and worked on weekends or into the evening.  I've needed to leave him and his workers alone in my home to do work while I've had to leave for appointments.  There have been no problems whatsoever with doing so.  He also takes the time to clean up after his work (and sometimes, even before his work).  I would definitely recommend Julio for any electrical projects you may have going on.

I purchased a Big Deal coupon through Angies' List, and as suggested, called Julio Rivera numerous times to make an appointment to solve my electrical problem. Mr. Rivera never returned my call. So, was forced to contact Angie's List for help.  Soon after calling Angie's List Mr. Riverao contacted me to set a time to come down to do the work.  Mr. Rivera showed up on time the day of our appointment, but was not ready to work!
I showed him the bathroom features I needed fixed, and without even looking at it he concluded that it couldn't be fixed without breaking the wall.  Ironically, just recently JJL Electric fixed the same features for me in just a few minutes.

Mr. Rivera then attempted to fix one of the plugs in my bedroom and did such a poor job that, again, I had to pay another electrician to have it fixed.
