Joe was quick to respond to our panic call about water in the basement from the bulkhead. We sent him photos and he promptly assessed the problem and made a recommendation. He came to our house for appointment very timely. He clearly explained the problem and the solution to us. Joe was always quick to respond to an e mail, even late at night! Joe and team are very conscientious, easy to work with and very prompt. He was followed up with us to make sure things were fine. Vrey well. I contacted BDI late October 2018, worked out a contract with Keri and Leo to remove existing bulkhead, dispose of it, and replace it with a custom steel bulkhead that is primed and painted. In addition, the old stairs would be removed, disposed of, and replaced with custom built stairs that are up to code. I was kept up-to-date on the status of the project. Both bulkhead and stairs were completed late December 2018, due to weather constraints and BDI's heavy workload. The people completing the work were friendly and great about answering questions I had about the process. I am very pleased with the end product--plus, the bulkhead and stairs look great. I've included pictures of both the bulkhead and stairs before and after BDI finished the project.

Job was completed on time as promised and at price. Only 1 issue our foundation wasn't completely level, not on their end. But was handled easily by their expert installers.

The process was great from initial conversations with Leo to the end results. Leo is super responsive via phone or email and a pleasant guy to deal with. You can tell he cares about the work he and his team do. Once the crew got here, it took them about 2-3 hours to finish the project. They were great guys, I got the sense they enjoyed and took pride in their work. They did a thorough job of cleaning the area before and after installing the new door and they kept me informed throughout the process. It's always nice dealing with companies who care about their work and their customers. I would never hesitate to call these guys again.

I found Leo was extremely informative, professional and responsive. I had never dealt with a bulkhead before and he took the time to explain what the issues were with my bulkhead and how he would be able to resolve them with a bulkhead replacement. He was the only vendor of the four I contacted who took the time to answer all of my questions over the phone after he went to examine the bulkhead, and then followed up by sending me a written estimate with a diagram of exactly what the work would entail. His price was very fair and the work was timely and exceptional quality. I had a minor problem after the installation and he sent out a technician within 24 hours to make some adjustments to the bulkhead. I would highly recommend Leo to any homeowner looking to replace their bulkhead door.

Met with Leo (owner) a week ago who went over the details of the project. Crew of three (including Leo's son) showed up today on time and ready to go. Crew did a very neat and professional job removing and installing the old and new bulkhead doors. As a person who has worked for builders in the past I knew what to look for and these guys were right on. Highly recommended.

Removed old bulkhead doors and frame, grind down old concrete, repaired concrete, mounted new frame and doors, sealed small gaps, touched up a few small areas with matching paint.

My old bulkhead had rot in the 'drainage' channel at the top causing leaks into the cellar. BDI removed the old, smoothed down the concrete where the new would go to create a smooth surface. They also caulked around all the edges. The whole process took approximately 4 hours. Leo responded quickly to my emails and answered all my questions. And the two installers explained the work they did, and were very professional and friendly. I would recommend BDI to anyone looking to install a new bulkhead door!

I recommend that anyone considering bulkhead work to read all of the reviews regarding this business?impressive. When I first called, Leo (the owner) was the one who answered the phone. He asked that I email him a few pictures of the current bulkhead. Later that day he emailed me a rough estimate to complete the work. We corresponded a few times via email to fine-tune the scope and cost. I was impressed that his son (Kyle) responded to an email at 10:45PM one night, because his father had an overnight commitment with the National Guard. I later learned that Leo is a veteran with many years of service. Leo did a site visit before ordering the materials. During that visit he informed us that the metal door unit has a primer coat of paint from the factory. It requires a finish coat to prevent rusting. Leo offers (for a fee) to spray paint everything at his shop before installation. I decided to have him do this, and I was glad I did. The day of installation, his installers (Kenny and Josh) arrived a ½ hour early, which was great. It was a cold and windy day, with light snow. These two guys were un-phased with the weather conditions. Awhile later, Leo arrived with a board to replace one that was rotted just above the bulkhead unit. Until he arrived I was unaware this needed to be replaced?he did not charge for it! After approximately 4 hours, Kenny and Josh completed the installation. They cleaned up the entire site before leaving. Later that evening, Leo sent an email thanking us for our business. Leo business specializes in bulkheads?from simple repair, to complete dig outs and installation. Leo does what he says he will do. His crew arrives on time (even early), does quality work, and respects you and your property. They leave you with the feeling that they really want, and appreciate your business. (When was the last time you had that experience?) I highly recommend Leo, and his crew, if you need bulkhead work done.

I reached out to a number or companies for replacing an old bulkhead. We are getting our home resided and needed to get it done soon. Leo was the most responsive (and one of only two who even answered my inquiry). He asked me to send measurements and photos and had an estimate out the next day. He answered all my questions within a very reasonable time, painted the bulkhead prior to installing it and scheduled the install well before I needed it to be done. He and his son arrived 15 minuted EARLY (not complaining) and installed and removed in less time than he had estimated. My wife and I were thrilled with the timeliness, professionalism and workmanship! Could not be happier with their work, especially in 90+ degree heat!

Leo and his men were excellent. They have been doing this a long time. The old door was in terrible shape and it took four men half a day to do the work. Considering this the price was fair. The estimate was accurate. I would recommend them highly.

Everything went pretty much perfectly. Leo showed up with his son as scheduled, they did the installation in one day, and his son came back the next day to patch the cement. I particularly appreciated that they arranged for the doors to be painted the doors in advance, using a custom color of my choice. This was an additional cost: the total would have been $1180 without the paint.

I was having water leak into my basement through the basement door during heavy rains. I wasn't sure if there was a leak in the concrete or the metal bulkhead door on top, so I had some people check it out. I made the mistake of calling bulkhead door companies and of course their take is and quot;the concrete is fine, what you need is a new bulkhead door because the sealant has failedand quot;. So I went with Leo and the installation was fine, but my basement has flooded twice within 6 weeks since that time. Apparently the problem was with the bulkhead stairs concrete after all. Leo is a good guy and referred me to a friend but unfortunately that friend didn't return my call after a brief conversation. If you want a new bulkhead door, go with Leo. If you want a better assessment of a problem you're having, go with someone else.

Leo is a dying breed. If you're looking for an honest, hardworking, high integrity professional, Leo will be the man you've been looking for. He was on time, preformed the work as requested without trying to upset something I didn't need and even rectified potential issues I might have in the future with my bulkhead, without asking. A's all around!

Leo Carney's price was significantly below two other estimates. This may have been due, in part, to my telling him that he could put the new stairs in anytime within the next two months, at his convenience. He came once to measure and about three weeks later he was on the Cape and finished a job early. He called to make sure it was convenient time for me. Leo and his nephew came, ripped out the old bulkhead stairs, and installed a new set of stairs in about two hours. He even made two minor repairs to my bulkhead for no additional charge.

Met with Leo Carney on May 9, 2014. He took measurements since this was to be a custom made bulkhead door. Told me delivery and installation would be in 3-4 weeks. Communication was great - Leo installed the door on June 18, 2014. Since this was replacing an old wooden rotted door, the job took considerable time. The door looks great and more importantly, I now have a secure bulkhead door to my home. Leo explained the mechanics of the door and told me to call him with any questions. I am extremely pleased with the whole process along with the professionalism that Leo and his staff conveyed to me. At first, I was not sure if Leo would come out to Worcester, MA but he did and I am highly recommending him to anyone who needs a replacement bulkhead door. It definitely is a lost art but I am grateful that we still have a company like Bulkhead Door, Inc. to come to the rescue!

Everything went well. They worked hard and efficiently. The work looks clean and sturdy. The new door is very substantial, looks nice, and did a good job of keeping out snow and rain over the winter and spring. I'm pleased with the way the job went and the result.

They removed the old bulkhead door, removed old wooden steps, cleaned out old stone, mortared stone foundation as necessary, framed the new bulkhead door, replaced old steps with new ones, provided and installed new custom steel bulkhead door, filled in side with Azec board, trimmed, caulked, and sealed.

The old bulkhead door started to rust to the point that rain water was getting into the basement. So I immediately started looking for vendors to replace the door. I chose Bulkhead Doors Inc because the process went smooth with them, and Leo Carney was a pleasure to work with. He was able to determine the scope of work by the pictures I took of the old bulkhead door and the surrounding foundation. He provided his quote promptly, and was able to be easily reached via email as well as phone. He was able to complete the work without me needing to be there, which works for me. Most importantly, the door looks great and there has been a heavy rainstorm since the door is there, and no more leaks!

Removed existing steel bulkhead door and disposal. Cleaned all old concrete as needed. Installed new Bilco basement door with 12" extension in rear. Caulk and seal with Polyurethane Sealant to be weather tight. Provides a 5 year warranty.
