He installed the tub we picked out in the local plumbing supply house and it looks good. plumbing to hookup to new mixing valve is good. I asked that wall insulation be used around and under new tub to eliminate the hollow echo sound...didnt want it to sound like a hotel cheap tub. He did not do so. Instead he sprayed insulating foam under tub bottom only...so now when I move around in the tub while showering, I can hear the crackling and crunching of the hardened foam. Which also explains another problem... bottom of tub is not supported and braced properly. It should not have any "bounce". He was supposed to match (as best possible) the old tile with new tile to finish off around tub/shower surround. It is a white tile that is 30 years old, so we new the color would be slightly off ...and it was. thats OK. But the tile work itself was aweful. Nothing was flush, many tiles sticking out close to the thickness of the tile. And along the edge, where the tile meets the tub he didnt use a tile cutter to make a straight edge...he snapped the tile (with pliers i think) to make a VERY jagged and uneven edge. absolutely the worst tile job I ever saw. When I asked him about that edge, he said he would cover with calking when he finishes up. He never did. He also broke a floor tile when removing the old tub ... his way of fixing was to lay the pieces back into place an c*** with clear cocking (never told us about it, we saw it later. Its a black floor tile, so we didnt see at first). And where the new wal tile meets the floor there is a 3/4" gap (pretty big) all filled with a glob of white cocking. What else? Oh, across the top of the new shower where he had to remove some sheet-rock and replace, he used the wrong thickness, so it doesn't match the existing sheet-rock along the whole top. He never sanded properly (must have tried to skip coat and then he painted it a high gloss white over the new sheet-rock and partially over the old sheet-rock and wall paper. And on one end where he added sheet-rock, he never brought out to meet a wall stud, it was free floating. so when i installed a curtain rod ...it cracked the plaster and pushed sheet-rock in. nice huh. And one final thing. He had to work from inside a bedroom closet in order to hook-up the mixing valve. In that same closet I have a heating duct running vertical from attack to lower floor and it is insulated. He cut the insulation off the duct and threw away...never replaced. And most normal plumbers (i think) would build a hatch or access panel in the closet in case any repairs to the mixing valve is needed. He did not do so (but he never offer to in his defense, i just feel he should have based on what i have seen in my life and what i have heard from others). I hate to write this review this way...and I waited a long time before I did (cooling off period), but it has to be done. We didnt really have the money to do this small project, but its something my wife has wanted for a long time (extra deep tub to relax). She cried when this was first completed...she wont take a bath in there still ... we both get upset everytime we are in the shower. I cannot afford to fix what should have been done already, with what I paid. That is why I am writing this review in detail. Thanks
