The inspection took about 3 hours and was performed by Mark George.  He did an excellent job and was extremely thorough in every aspect of the inspection.  He also provided a lot of extra comments as I am a first time home buyer.  This additional feedback will be extremely valuable as I become a homeowner.  It was a tremendous amount of information and days later I was provided a report that summarized everything he reviewed along with recommendations.

Bob provided a comprehensive report. I appreciated that he gave honest feedback rather than simply cover his butt on every category. He was happy to do follow-up calls at a few odd times to answer more of my questions.

Mark George is a thorough inspector.  Over 3+ hours, he inspected our new home and took the time to show us how to turn on and off the water, gas, electrical, etc.  He pointed out immediate concerns, as well as areas for long-term improvements.  Compared to our other experience with a Boston home inspector, Mark was great and I would definitely use again.

Mark George is an excellent and entertaining inspector!   He did a thorough, 3 hour long inspection on our new home.  We crawled in and out of every crevice in the entire property.  We learned so much about the house and what we should and should not do.  Mark also made sure we knew how to turn on and off all water, gas, and electrical lines, which will come in handy if there is ever a leak.  He also identified immediate problem areas with the house, along with long-term improvements, which we should plan to tackle in the next few years.  Since we are first time home buyers, Mark's information was invaluable and I am so thankful we went with him for our home inspection.  He was also very reasonably priced compared to many Boston area inspectors, while being one of the best inspectors I have met. (We had a home inspection done on a different property by a different Boston area inspector about a month ago, on a property we did not end up buying.  The other inspector cost twice as much and was half as good as Mark.)  I would hire Mark in a second to do an inspection!

We are about to buy our first house. Heard from others that Mark George does a good job with home inspections. He arrived 20 mins late because of traffic. He was very well prepared (flash light with extra bulb/battery, notepad, tools, binocular etc.). It's a small cape so the inspection didn't take too long, but he still spent 3.5 hours on it, from basement up. Checked for rot, termites, water, lead/brass pipes, holes, radon (that was $50 extra) etc. He didn't take photos, videos as some other more expensive home inspectors do and he does more that 1 inspection a day, while others may only do 1 day. Feel that he did a great job, we now a lot about the house now and can make an informed decision.

I've been through 3 other home inspections with other home inspectors over the last 15 years and I can't believe what I've been missing. Although I felt a bit brain-fried at the end of the almost 2 hour inspection, Mark covered everything and put it all in his report. Every question I had prepared or that came up during the inspection was answered in a way I understood. Not only is he the best I've seen with regard his knowledge, but he is respectful, often funny - really funny, and very engaging. I think he opened and closed every window! He noticed that the refrigerator should be tilted back slightly so that the door would tend to close rather than open. I learned how to tell when a roof might be on its last leg (a roof on its last leg? - ha-ha), about ice dams, about pressure treated wood, and the list could go on and on. the big things and the little things, the missing damper lever, the doorbell that doesn't work, the vent in the kitchen that doesn't open the outside flap when on. I learned about NE termites and wood ants. If someone tells you that home inspections aren't worth it, they did not use Mark. It is worth more than you will be charged and you will be telling your friends and family that Mark is the guy to get when it is time for a home inspection. Note: When it came time to do a home inspection I had not thought about who to use. Once the offer was made, everything happened quickly, but I got lucky because my real estate broker suggested Mark and I said let's go with him. If you have a less experienced broker or one that doesn't know the area well, think about home inspection before making an offer and go with Mark George. I hear he has a brother who also is an inspector. If some of Mark's exceptional professionalism, knowledge, wisdom, and personality is genetic, I bet his brother is a great inspector too.

Went wonderfully. He arrived early, and did so much more than my only previous other home inspector did(basically had checked the safety of the structure, the roof integrity, the outlets, etc.). Mark George read this old house like it was a historical novel, was able to read its history, date its features, was able to identify work that might need to be done in the future but helped us prioritize that work. As he walked through the house, he gave us tips on maintenance and future care of the house, how to reduce certain problems with drain spouts, how to keep the basement drier, how to take care of different types of woodwork, etc. It was much more than an inspection-it was how to take care of this house for years to come. I took pages of notes, knowing that the formal report contains little of this expert knowledge. He clearly knows his business, knows old houses, and has a vast store of wisdom to share. He made himself available for the future if questions arose, leaving his card. I'd recommend him to anyone most highly.

He was on time, which I always appreciate, and did a very detailed inspection of the condo unit and the building. He went over the whole property with me and was willing to answer my questions in regards to how problematic some of the issues he raised were going to be and the ballpark estimate of fixing some of these problems. The only thing I wish he had done better was given me more detail in the document he sent me for the official home inspection report. There were several things he mentioned to me that were not on the report, but fortunately I had written them down so I was able to do the work anyways.

Excellent. Great inspector - does the nity gritty checks but also gives great home owner maintenance suggestions. Discovered major problem and spent time discussing but still did full inspection and price did not increase substantially.

Donald George (''a registered professional engineer'') failed to perform a thorough job of inspecting the home we were buying. He missed a number of obvious problems with the house, some of which are potentially dangerous and need to be addressed right away. We bought the house based on his assessment and now it has become our responsibility to fix the problems that he missed. Strangely, he was most concerned about the type of paint we should put on the walls and what kind of carpeting and counter top we should install. Also note that his inspection report was only 3 pages long and contained a bunch of irrelevant information. We are first time home owners and had no idea what to look out for. Thankfully we had the house re-inspected and got a much more detailed assessment of the home. Unfortunately, we are spending several thousand dollars of our hard earned money to fix Donald George's mistakes. Please think twice before using his services or recommending him to other people.

MARK GEORGE, THE HOME INSPECTOR I'VE WORKED WITH MANY TIMES RECENTLY, IS KNOWLEDGEABLE, WILLING TO EDUCATE CONSUMERS AND ANSWER ALL QUESTIONS, TOTALLY RELIABLE, THOROUGH BUT NOT ALARMIST (GIVEN THAT ALL HOMES ARE IMPERFECT IN SOME WAY). PARTICULARLY AS A BUYER'S AGENT, I AM VERY ATTENTIVE TO THE QUALITY OF THE HOME INSPECTOR'S WORK. HE HELPS PEOPLE ACCURATELY GAUGE THE STATUS OF A PROPERTY, IN THIS CASE CONSIDERING CONDOMINIUM UNIT SALES. HE IS PLEASANT TO WORK WITH, YET IT'S CLEAR THAT IF THERE IS AN ISSUE HE WON'T HESITATE TO NAME IT. HE ALSO CONDUCTS HIMSELF IN A HIGHLY ETHICAL MANNER, WILL TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR HIS ASSESSMENTS, IS PRICED IN LINE WITH THE MARKET, AND IS ALWAYS PRECISELY ON TIME. OVERALL AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, HE REALLY ''KNOWS HIS STUFF.''
