Our boiler broke down. I called David Heating to get it looked at because it was October and would start getting cold. They get one star for coming out to look at my broken boiler on a Saturday, despite being told that "[they] don't have to because [I'm] not a customer." They get an overall F for failing to deliver on the proposal that they assured me was coming. I kept being told that I would get it by the end of the day or the end of the day tomorrow. For two weeks those promises kept being broken. I still haven't received a proposal from David Heating. They apparently intended to prevent me from ever being a customer. If they had told me upfront that it was a very busy time or given me a realistic time frame for that proposal, maybe I'd feel differently. As it stands, I wouldn't give David Heating my business if they were the only ones in town.

Quotes were provided and explained to our satisfaction. On the first day the old oil tank in basement was removed. Existing oil was pumped out and filtered. New tank was installed and filtered oil was pumped into new tank. Permits for removal and disposal were included in service. The old boiler was removed and a new concrete pad was poured. On the second day the new boiler was installed. The installation with new copper piping was much better than old system.

I originally had hired David H&C just for a yearly furnace system maintenance because I had just recently purchased my house in Merrimac and wanted it looked at before the really cold weather set in. The employee that came to my house performed the check up as requested. He then told me that I needed a new fan part for my furnace and made it sound as though my furnace could go at any second and that it would be necessary to have it fixed. I was also told that it would be a 2 day wait time for this particular part to arrive so if the furnace broke down and was an emergency situation that there would be no way to fix it in a timely manner. I gave them the go ahead to order the part that day, 11/14, and was told that I would be contacted when it arrived to have it installed. Two weeks later I called to inquire about the status of the ordered part. I was told that it was there but I just had never received a call. They scheduled an appointment for someone to come out to perform the service on Thursday 11/30 between 8-10AM. I took the day off from work and waited for them at my house. By 1130 AM there was no call and no show from the company so I called and left a message requesting that someone call me back about this issue. I did not receive a return call until almost 3pm that day. I was apologized to and was told that they were sorry that someone didn't call me to let me know. I had taken time off from work for this and spent the entire day waiting for something that never happened. They rescheduled me for the next day in the afternoon between 1-2pm. At 115pm the next day a serviceman showed up and said "I am here to fix a fan or something" which did not lend much confidence to the idea that he knew what was wrong with my system. He began working and then came up at 215pm to tell me that he was finished. He told me the cost of the service and I was surprised because the labor costs seemed high at $200. I asked him how labor was calculated and he told me it was $100/hr. I referenced the clock and showed him that he had only been at my house for an hour. He referenced the quote that I was given originally that it would take 2 hours of labor and that was how I was being charged. I explained that I would absolutely pay the $200 had it taken that long but he was only there for an hour. He eventually called a supervisor and said that "I was requesting a discount on the labor." I was not trying to pull a fast one on this company, I was trying to pay fairly for the job that was done and how long the worker was there performing the labor. He eventually got the go ahead to take an hour off the labor cost. As I was writing out the check I asked how the furnace looked otherwise (as a reminder I am a brand new homeowner). The response I got from the serviceman was "eh, it's an old furnace" with no further elaboration of any sort. He received my check and left. I originally picked this company because I am all for supporting local business. David H&C is based out of the town I live in and I felt like I wanted to give them a chance versus going with other, more commercial, heating and cooling companies. I was, unfortunately, extremely disappointed with my experience with David H&C from start to finish and I will most likely look elsewhere for future heating and cooling needs.

Technician found a bad connection on the power vent motor assembly. He replaced the connector and re-attached. He charged me the minimum for a service call, he could have charged me more and I would have happily paid. We've used them in the past and were happy, now we're customers for life.

David Heating did a great job with our new boiler install. The team was professional and completed the work on time and on budget. We got several bids during the process and Steve (the owner) helped me understand some of the options about models and benefits of each, as well as answering a bunch of other questions we had. We are very happy with the performance of the new system so far this winter. I would recommend David Heating & Cooling without reservation.

We would recommend them, they are always ontime, always clean up afterwards. If we have a problem they'll come back, very courteous, never had an issue with them and very nice to deal with.

We had our old oil burner and electric hot water heater replaced with a new high efficient Slant Fin oil burner and SuperStor water heater which runs off the oil burner. David's repairmen were on time, took away the old products, professional, and did a great job.

Andy was late, but the company called me to let me know ahead of time that he was tied up. When he came he was apologetic. Because they called me, it was fine with me. I normally watch the guys working on the furnace. Andy was the most diligent, most conscientious, most fastidious and careful technician I have ever had. And all the time, he welcomed me looking over his shoulder and explained things to me. He was even friendly to my dog. He dismantled things, looked in nooks and crannies. At one point he pulled out the blower to lie on his back with his head in the furnace to look up inside. He did all he should have done and more. And to top it all off, he vacuumed up and was very careful not to cause a mess. Incredible guy. Took two full hours but didn't charge extra. Worth every penny I spent.
