Response from Lew's Emall Engines
Regretfully [member name removed] Purchase the cheapest products that he can find at the discount stores and then never ever does any maintenance. When they will no longer run he brings in the equipment for service. First off knowing that he had already indicated that he would not spend much I advised him that there was a minimum ($30.00) just to look at and write a complete estimate if no work were to be done. He said ok. Secondly as for the tractor $323.89 for a COMPLETE TUNE up (all new air filter pre filter oil oil filter spark plugs fuel filter) , a NEW battery, 2 NEW Blades, a NEW pto clutch cable and remove mouse nest and all the labor to fix the mower deck that was all bound up from the rust mud and dirt. Way more than fair but [member name removed] said that his 2005 craftsman lawn tractor was not worth $300.00 and he would go purchase a new tractor for that much. As for the trimmer I quoted to him that it would be about $100 to $150 to repair and he still insisted that I look at it and wright the estimate, I did and he said that it was not worth fixing, as I told him before he dropped it off. I run a reputable shop and have some of the lowest prices around. I don't do hack work that will come back and hurt my company name. I feel bad that [member name removed] could not afford my quality work but as he mentioned his old repair shop is no longer operating. Cheep hack work will come back and bite you every time. For those that are interested I can show [member name removed]'s estimates as written showing that we are a very fair and professional repair shop with the customers best interest in mind.
