I hired Joseph McWhinnie to convert my existing deck into a screened deck and extend it out for some outdoor space. He worked hard and smartly and improvised as things got along and made the correct adjustments. He is a multi-talented fully licensed general contractor, experienced at what he does, and proud of his thorough work. He showed up every day at 8 AM and did not leave the property until everything was cleaned and organized at the end of each day. He took his time ensuring the work was completed to the highest standards. Thanks to his great work, my screened deck came out amazing, and I’m truly impressed by his detail and craftsmanship! A very responsive and responsible contractor which is hard to find these days! I just wanted to acknowledge Joseph McWhinnie for a job well done. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a skillful, detail-oriented general contractor.

Lets just say I would never have the kitchen I have today it was not for Joey ! I told him my vision and he went above and beyond any thing I could imagine I am beyond pleased with joeys work! Not only is his work A masterpiece when it is done he is extremely fashionable knowledgeable, and patient I would 100% recommend him for any home-improvement projects ! Thanks again, Joey!!

I recently had a kitchen and home addition done by McWhinnie custom builders. I was overly impressed with the craftsmanship and the attention to detail . The timeline was done on date that we had been given and they were very friendly and professional I wanted to say thank you custom Builders we will be contacting you guys for next project !

Firstly, heâ s the most responsive person in the business. You email/text/call - he responds. Quickly. Itâ s representative of his overall efficiency. He got things done right and right away. The work is clean, the quality is good. Already contacted him for next project (and he responded immediately.).

FWIW I don't write reviews but Joe built us a 3 season room and a deckas well. In the end I wish I had not been such a pain in the a**. Joe was more than patient with my desire to have a deck (that you can not access from the house) against Joe's advice which I now realize was unwise. The attention to detail was meticulously though out. We were concerned with heating and cooling the room because it will get limited use. Joe suggested a ceiling recessed Mitsubishi mini-split system that was the perfect fit. So perfect that we opted to install a 5 head system as our home did not have central a/c. It has been life-changing not having window rattlers cooling our home. The interior finishes he suggested are superb and we're using the room now far more than initially anticipated. Back to my deck mistake. Now granted everything about it's construction and finish are nothing short of perfect. Unfortunately for me I wish I had listened to Joe, he very politely several times tried explaining to me that my design might look like an afterthought. I ignored his professional opinion and in the end he was right. I could have spent the same money if not less and had a much nicer, open, usable and functional space had i listened. I will likely have Joe come back in the fall to remove the deck, have my patio extended in place of the deck and build the pergola he suggested and add an outdoor kitchen with a bar. My advice is to keep an open mind and listen to Joe closely if he makes any suggestions. Had I listened to him in the beginning I'd be writing this review sitting at the bar under my pergola sipping a margarita. I deeply regret not heeding his advice, advice which was more to my benefit than his, the man is a visionary and a craftsman from my experience. Good luck with your project.

We hired Joseph to replace our old wood deck with composite decking and railings. He also extended part of the deck and reinforced the frame. We felt the price we were charged was reasonable and the work was professional. This project was completed by Joseph himself and 1 other person helping him. The project took a bit longer than expected due to material delays but we are pleased with the final result.

Joseph McWhinnie did an amazing job, he designed, laid out his own blueprints and executed it perfectly, he is such a perfectionist, he took his time, payed attention to every detail I asked for, he is not only the best craftsman I have had work on my house, he is honest, on time and Iâ m am very satisfied and I would recommend him to anyone !

Joe was very professional and did an amazing work for us installing the egress window and other work related projects. He takes his time to ensure the work is completed at the highest standards. Final inspections was passed in 10 minutes. He pulled a permit, completed the work in one week and we would recommend him to anyone that needs a solid builder and general contractor. Thank you Joe. Joey designed, planned and built s custom composite deck for our pool. He went above snd beyond to get a permit that included bringing a varinace in front if the zoning board twice. Joey is herd working creative and pays attention to fine details, joey did a beautiful job and is highy recommend ed

Promising one price but then increasing it.

A multi-talented contractor. A hard worker, very skilled at what he does and proud of his work. By the book and very thorough. Joe would give ideas and options to get the most what you want in the project. His pricing and quotes are reasonable, and actually very price efficient. His work for me included making a retail cabinet look like a custom build and also a frame and finish of a small home office. I would definitely consider using him for future projects.
