The provider, Winter Hill Plumbing and Heating made an emergency house call to a home of a client of mine. The owner had moved out of the area, the home was in the process of being sold and the heat was suddenly not working. The owner called her own service person, who had been maintaining the heating system for years,  but she was not able to get him to come to the home to service the problem for more that 2 weeks.
I met the owner, Joe DeFilippi of Winter Hill Plumbing, several months ago and kept his business card just in case I,  or anyone I knew ever needed a plumber. I decided to give him a call on behalf of the owner as he was a local person and I hoped he would be able to fit the homeowner in quickly. We were very happy to learn that he was able to come out to the property the very next morning at 8:30!! He was able to get the heat back on and fixed the problem right away by replacing some extremely old valves on several radiators. He also repaired a leaking faucet and did it all at a very reasonable rate,  especially because it was such an emergency due to the cold temperatures and the concern of the pipes freezing.
He was kind and efficient and did exactly what we ( the homeowner and myself) needed him to do... get the heating system running. It was an old system and he could have gone the route of causing the owner to spend lots of money but he didn't. He did exactly what we asked him to do. No more...no less and that is what I call good service!!!

He showed up on time, honored the 10% Angie's List discount, but was still expensive since he was there for only 2 hours.
He was very professional, he knew his stuff, and didn't try to tack onthings that I didn't need.  He pointed out that the valves were old, which is why it was colder in certain parts of the house.  Since his fixes, my tenants who live there said they noticed the difference, and were pleased.

Because a water heater leaks on the cellar floor when it lets go, replacement has to happen efficiently. My former plumber had retired, so I went to Angie's List. This was my first time doing business with Winter Hill Plumbing, and the experience was excellent from start to finish. Joe responded to my morning phone call at once, came over at about 8:45 a.m., shut off the water supply to the old heater, assessed what needed to be ordered, went on his first scheduled call of the day, and was back by about 11:00. The old water heater, with a 10-year warranty, had lasted 14 years, so although this unit was a bit more expensive, we went with the same model for replacement. Joe removed the old hot water heater and made some improvements in the installation itself (by elevating the unit on concrete blocks, so some changes in the copper pipe were also required). He was also very good about explaining the necessary work and the changes that he made. These modifications were included in the original quoted price for installation. So, we got prompt service, excellent product, careful installation, and respectful treatment in explaining the procedures. Winter Hill Plumbing will certainly get our business in the future.

Joe insisted on doing this repair at no cost to us, even though the original tile wall repair and replacement was done by another contractor, simply because he had recommended the other contractor.  That describes Joe's approach to all of his work!  He will recommend the best solution he knows, implement it and be sure that it has solved the problem and you are completely happy with it.
Joe's repaired or replaced many parts of our plumbing over the years - new shower head, added an under-sink faucet with shut-off for a hose to water plants on the deck, new shower drain, kitchen sink faucet replacement, dishwasher connections, etc.   We're happy with ALL of the work he's done for us.

Job went fine.   He had done all of the plumbing work when I totally remodeled the kitchen the year before in the same condo in Cambridge, so I knew what I was getting.

Joe is great to work with. He shows up when he said he will, figures out problems and options quickly, is willing and able to explain it all to laymen, and then takes care of the repair completely. He's worked on several units in our condo association, and remembers the quirks from unit to unit, speeding along the troubleshooting. He's always pleasant and professional.

Joe was responsive and knowledgeable. He got all the projects finished the morning he committed to being at the house. My wife really liked working with him. He does the work for the Cambridge Common Housing on our street.
