RP D'ALESSANDRO JR PLUMBING

I could fill six pages with the long, long list of broken promises, unkept appointments, basement door left open for a week and lights left on for a no-show plumber and his possibly, possibly qualified helpers (I hope they are qualified...)  I just found out Rick D'alessandro Jr's plumbing and gas fitting licenses were revoked by the state of MA for TEN YEARS for flagrant disregard of plumbing code, permitting and inspections... and for "endangering public safety".  Ye gods.   The ten years is not even halfway up yet. Clearly Mr D'alessandro disregarded the State's order to cease holding himself out as a plumber... he continues to rip off unsuspecting customers and I have found a bunch of ads he puts up on free sites to drum up new business.
He talks a great game up front - "we'll do it fast, cheaply, and to code." The reality is the exact opposite.  It is only by constant calling and nagging that he ever showed up at all. The job is still unfinished. The city reports he never pulled a permit -- which is supposed to be done BEFORE the work begins. 
Do not use him. Save your money, your sanity, your hair, and your time.

UPDATED 10/29/2013: The City now tells me he is a totally illegal plumber - never had a gasfitter's license or a plumber's license, so he is operating illegally in everything he does. Two different qualified plumbers/gasfitters have looked at the furnace installation and strongly critiqued how much of it was done.  Both furnaces are leaking water all over the basement floor because he did not put in the condensation pumps and drains as required.  Neither furnace has been given external air sources as is required in order to assure that Carbon Monoxide is not put into the house from the basement air; and also to ensure that the furnaces perform at their stated efficiency ratings.  He promised me that everything would be finished, permitted and inspected by Monday 10/28, but you guessed it - he never showed up. I am getting a licensed plumber/gasfitter to finish the job, seal the leaks he left around my house, put in the pumps and drainage and external air sources.  The many mistakes made in the ductwork will have to remain as they are not fatal, just inexplicable and poorly done by someone not qualified or licensed to do this work.  Oh, and he did not even put in air filters ($3.69 apiece at Ace Hardware) -- which not only meant unnecessary dirt was being blown all over my home, but also that the furnaces would have had a shortened life expectancy and decreased efficiency over time.  I bought the filters and installed them myself after a licensed plumber pointed out the lack of filters. Sheesh.

While we got a pretty cheap price considering all the work that was done; the quality of the workmanship was horrible. All solder joints were barely acceptable, the piping is ridiculous and while the system works, I predict we will have to replace portions of this fiasco within the next year. Getting a hold of them was nearly impossible and they hung us out to dry for nearly four months to get this project done. If you need to communicate with your plumbing contractor and expect quality workmanship, go elsewhere, expect to pay a little more but believe me, it's worth it. BTW; it took three visits by the local inspector to get the system to pass. Inspector claimed this was unprecedented!

WE CALLED WITH A PLUMBING PROBLEM ON A SATURDAY, AND WERE TOLD THEY WOULD CALL THE NEXT DAY TO SET UP AN APPOINTMENT FOR SUNDAY OR MONDAY. THEY NEVER CALLED BACK. WE CALLED AGAIN MONDAY, AND WERE TOLD SOMEONE WOULD CALL BACK TO SET UP AN APPOINTMENT. THEY NEVER CALLED BACK.

THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO CALL ME AT WORK MONDAY AND COME BY THAT DAY, (I WOULD MEET THEM), INSTEAD THEY CALLED AT HOME TUESDAY. I WAS HOME SICK SO WE AGREED THAT THEY'D CALL BACK TO SET UP A TIME FOR THAT DAY. NEVER CALLED, JUST SHOWED UP. THEN NEVER CALLED BACK WITH THE PRICE! EVER!
