We were applying for a building permit and our city requested a certified plot plan with proposed structure. We hired Chuck Veneziano (Medford Engineering and Survey), and we are extremely pleased with his service! His price was very competitive, with the shortest lead time! He performed survey on time (despite blizzards and snow), made the necessary corrections for the architected structure - and even pointed out the error in architectural drawings!! It was an absolute pleasure to deal with. Thank you Chuck!

We somehow got lost during scheduling so the work happened several months after we paid a deposit. I called to check the schedule, and they even seemed to lose track of that. The survey itself was fine, but they really need to keep better track of promised work.

Absolutely horrible experience. We received a proposal for work in late August, which was competitive, so we sent a deposit to Medford Engineering & Survey in early September. I called several times to leave messages, but calls were not returned. I finally got ahold of them in mid-November. They told me that they had already made a site visit, but that another was needed to complete the work. It's now mid-January and the survey has still not been completed. I'm trying to decide if this company is a scam, or if they are merely incompetent. Either way, I will never give them business again. Total fail.

Chuck was quick in responding and getting us all we needed to move forward with the building department. Very friendly and accessible.

Chuck Veneziano responded promptly by sending me a proposal within a day or two of initial contact. Everyone told me to expect for the survey to take over 6 weeks.  However, Chuck gave me a time window for delivering the completed work of 3-5 weeks and he completed it on the early side.  Bottom line: fast, courteous, easy to reach, competitive pricing.

I called them after not getting return calls from other surveyors. They called me back the next day and asked for some basic info. I received a quote with in a few days and they performed exactly as the proposal stated. I would use them again in a heartbeat. Im not sure how good the price was because i didn't get a response from others.

Every step of the way, we've had to call them again and again to get them to do the work. They've had to come by the house twice already, and just now have told us they need to come by again -- after telling us in mid-July that the plans were going to be done soon. This whole process started at the beginning of May, they were paid in full mid-August, and at the time of this writing it's September 13 and we have not received a single piece of work from them. Because of this delay our entire condo conversion project is in jeopardy.

Response to the response: yes, it's true, the person I co-own the house with has been the main contact person and the one making most of the calls. I did call them once (when we hadn't heard from them for a week after they'd cashed our deposit) and was told that my name and number had been added to the project, but it appears that was something else that got lost in the shuffle. Oh, and it's been my name on all the checks, which they seem to keep excellent track of, unlike their list of pending work.

However, the fact that I wasn't the one that usually called does not negate the fact that my housemate has had to call them over and over again to get any kind of action out of them. They have also denied getting calls from her when speaking to her, so I'm not surprised that they deny getting them when responding here. I guess that's another minus -- not only do you have to call them over and over, they don't even know when you've called!
Response from MEDFORD ENGINEERING & SURVEY
"We at Medford Engineering strive every day to provide excellent service to our customers. As such, it was a surprise to read this complaint from the member. as he is not even on our client list. Upon researching the situation further, we found that he is associated with another client with whom we have been in contact by phone. Not once did we receive any communication from the member--not one phone call was made to our office by him. Yes, we did go to the property twice, three times in fact. This is not unusual practice. Every site plan that we do conforms to Massachusetts General Laws. Condo conversions require as-built conditions which is what necessitated our return to the property. To our knowledge prior to seeing this complaint, we were awaiting further instructions from our client. Had we been aware of the member's involvement and time requirements, we would have met them. I look forward to discussing this with the member. Our office number is 781-396-4466. Sincerely, Chuck Veneziano, Principal, Medford Engineering & Survey"

The overall experience went well. Tom and Jeff showed up on the agreed upon date and finished the job in approximately 4-5 hours. Provided stakes at appropriate points along the property and then walked me across the property describing the process and details of interest when the work was finished. Both were quite professional and efficient while performing their work but provided moments of levity as they had to work around construction issues and neighbor encroachments. The lead time for doing the work was ~3 weeks which was a bit longer than I had anticpated but not an issue in the end. Provided two copies of the property plot plan with the house, two sheds, deck, fence and field markers clearly mapped out upon receipt of payment. Price appeared competitive with other local land surveyors and I would hire them again based upon my overall experience.

Everything went as expected based on their history on the List. They were responsive, quick, accurate, and professional. They answered my few questions when on site and the rest went by with no regrets. They even coordinated for the Botanist to do the up front marking of the wetlands prior to their survey. The Botanist was paid seperately. All the normal survey information, plus the wetlands, plus the new deck/porch details were incorporated into the plans. The town was pleased with the documentation.

I called several land surveyor companies, and this was the only one that answered my phone call immediately. The work was performed professionally and in exactly the time frame promised. The price was a little less than 2 other companies I received quotes from. I am very happy with their work.

I had a neighbor who was disputing our abutting property line. I hired Medford Engineering to do a survey. They were curteous and explained the project every step of the way. In the end, there was some discrepency between all of the abutting properties/deeds and the actual land itself (as sometimes happens with these matters). Medford was able to help sort it all out and establish a new Survey which showed my land and justified my deed. They were great.

Everything was very good. They did a very thorough job. They did a recheck of their survey when it was questioned by the neighbor; when the survey was challenged by a neighbor who got a survey from another firm, our survey was confirmed to be correct. They were available by phone and returned phone calls. I was happy with the quality and accuracy of the survey.
