Sent an email around mid-day on Thanksgiving eve not expecting to hear back until Friday or Monday. Within a few minutes I received and email acknowledging my request. Within 15 minutes the details began flowing in. I wanted to take a minute and recognize Joan Bates who is so punctual and always spot on with her answers.
This occurs each time I reach out to her, this time I said it's time to recognize her again on Angies List.

, I bought a new car, a Toyota Prius, May 13, 2013. Over the summer, I called Bates Insurance, hoping to get a better deal than the MetLife policy I had through work.
An agent came out to my place. She was nice enough and emailed me a quote a few days later. The price of the auto insurance was lower than MetLife and she gave me a quote on a condo and umbrella policy as well. She did not inform me that if I switched auto insurance policies before my current policy expired I would have to pay an extra charge.
But the worst was yet to come. I had a new car. Apparently when you have a new car, you don't have to get an inspection when you switch insurance companies. But the agent wrote the quote wrong. As it happened my mother died a week after my new policy went into effect and I had to to (drive) to New York to do all the work that requires and assist my 85 year old father with a move. When I returned to Boston after all this, I found a letter from the auto insurance company telling me that my policy was cancelled because I hadn't had the car inspected. I was irate. After calling Bates, eventually the matter was straightened out, they sent me some paperwork to attest to the fact that I had insurance (I owned the car outright) . . .
Frequently, Bates sent emails with a tagline asking customers to and quot;spread the wordand quot; about their great service. A year later, I found a much better, more responsive insurance agency, with much better prices, better coverage, and an agent who demonstrated time and time again that he had the customer's best interest at heart. That is NOT the case with Bates. They only care about the premium, not providing customers with competent service or meeting their insurance needs.

It went well from the begining. First my car, then my girlfriends car, my son, my friend in work. They just seem to have my information up on thier screen everytime I call. The calls are normally 2 or 3 minutes. Which is about all the time I want to spend on the phone when it comes to insurance. :) Then they handle it from there, everytime!
