Assaabet Valley Tree was by far the lowest price. I liked them from the beginning because he gave me an itemized quote. This let me figure out what we could afford to do. The price was half of the other quotes I got! He also gives you copies of his insurance information with your quote. They came on time, got right to work and didn't waste a minute until the job was done. I would recommend them to anyone and plan to use them again. They aren't a fancy operation but that's fine with me because of the price and quality!

I called the office and made an appointment for an estimate on a Saturday.  Assabet showed up exactly on time and within a few minutes of our discussion provided an estimate to take down and remove the trees from the property.  I accepted the Assabet estimate on the spot because I found it to be quite reasonable in relation to one other estimate I had obtained.  
It was determined this job would require bringing in a very large 40 ton crane in to extract the trees because of their size and proximity to the house and other landscaping.  From past tree work with other service providers, I was expecting this.  Since the gentleman estimating (the Assabet owner) could not confirm a crane reservation on the spot he suggested it may take 1-2 weeks to get the equipment and team on-site.  Quite reasonable, I thought.
I got a call about a week later saying they were ready to do the work that day. I missed the action but when I came home from work at end-of-the-day and my trees were gone, the yard was clean, and nothing was damaged.
Regarding billing, I was pleased to NOT find Assabet hanging around demanding immediate payment (like some contractors) nor have I even gotten the bill via snail mail yet.  Nonetheless, I was pleased enough with the work I proactively mailed in the payment.
My experience was terrific.  I found the owner and office a pleasure to work with.   Work performed was exactly what I needed.

The contractor showed up on time.  I was busy with another contractor on sight at the time so I didn't see them drive their bucket truck into my back yard without putting any weight distributing materials down.  I've had tree guys do work before and whenever they drove over my yard they put down big sheets of plywood so they wouldn't damage the yard.   
Then next thing I knew they were gone, leaving a bunch of 8 foot lengths of tree laying around AND 4-6" deep ruts in my entire back yard!
When I called the woman who answered the phone said she would check with her husband and get back to me.  She never called back, I called 2 or 3 more times but never got her live and never got a return phone call.
The only good thing I can say is they never billed me!
It ended up costing me $750 to repair the damage, almost twce what it was supposed to cost to have the trees limbs removed!

We called a couple weeks after the hurricane came through, which could account for a little delay in the response time since it was such a busy time for tree services.  Once we set a time for the estimate and for the work they were punctual.  They did a great job removing the large, storm-damaged tree, as well as trimming the dead branches on our other large trees.  Also they did a great job removing the smaller trees.  I think their rates were very reasonable given that all this work was done in an area that was difficult to reach.

The Assabet crew was working in a neighbor's yard when my husband asked for an estimate on taking down two dead trees in our yard. They came over and took down our two trees that same afternoon. Quick and efficient.

They did a great job.  They came when they were supposed to.  It’s a great company all the way around.  Everything was great and I would highly recommend them.

He is very down to earth don't be fooled, has all of the insurances, and his price was half of others. His men are very respectful and professional. They do incredible work and he even works with cranes.

THIS IS THE SECOND TIME WE'VE HIRED THIS COMPANY TO DO TREE WORK FOR US. THEIR ESTIMATES ARE REASONABLE COMPARED TO OTHER COMPANIES, THEY DO A GOOD JOB AND THEY'RE CONSIDERATE OF HOMEOWNER CONCERNS REGARDING PROXIMITY OF SPECIMEN PLANTS, SEPTIC SYSTEMS, UTILITY LINES, ETC. SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO PLAY PHONE TAG FOR A FEW DAYS TO CONTACT THEM, BUT IT'S WORTH PERSISTING.
