They selected a decent vendor to install the countertops, but never specified that I had to remove the existing countertop and prepare it for installation.  All other vendors include this in their services. So it was a complete surprise when this was discovered, and an inconvenience to schedule another vendor.
The templating went well.  A G company representative attended.
But the first installation did not go well.  The G company send a representative to oversee the installation ONLY after I insisted.  The installer was upset with the preparation and threatened to leave.  The G company representative did nothing.  I shimmied the counter so it was suitable for the installer to do his job.
The back splash and tiling were to be completed the next week, but the G company insists on a second out of scope payment.  I asked them why they needed more money, and they could not explain it to me.  But they cancelled the back splash installation which was to have been the next day
So now I am waiting to hear WHY they want more money and WHEN this project will be completed.

Response from G Green Design Center
"RESPONSE from 'g' Green Design Center At 'g 'Green Design Center, we pride ourselves with offering quality products at fair prices and superb customer service. We cannot and will not compete with the big box stores with discount pricing. We work with architects, builders, and homeowners. When a homeowner steps between the contractor and the installers, while well meaning they may be, miscommunications are nearly inevitable. Homeowners acting as general contractors are often under incorrect information or assumptions. While we do our best to foresee any areas where this may happen, sometimes the homeowner develops an idea in their head that simply is not true. Estimates and quotations are drawn up early in the process of a home remodelling project. Sometimes, the scope of the project must be scaled back to accommodate the customer's budget. We are well experienced in working within the confines of an established budget. Later, if the customer adds these eliminated items or changes the scope of the project, there will, of course, be additional charges. These are never a surprise as we clearly communicate the financial ramifications along the way. The staff at 'g' Green Design Center, our fabricators and our installers are professionals in their fields and operate with the highest level of integrity. While we sincerely regret that this customer felt the need to express negative experiences, we believe that this resulted from their misunderstandings. In this particular project we were asked to quote and requote, scale back for budgetary reasons, but then deliver additional work. Our company was put in an untenable situation and we thought we attempted to navigate these changing expectations with clear communications. In the end, we have created beautiful results for this homeowner and will continue to work with them and others to be fair, professional, responsive and creative while providing the highest quality materials and implementation with sustainable results."

The dates above are those during which we planned and began to install insulation, floors, and kitchen and bath vanities.  The work was never completed because Ms. Goldman would not finish it without complete payment first, even though she made  major mistakes in the cabinetry.  I was very happy with her large selection of products to recommend, and with her help in thinking about design issues.  She was reasonably prompt with acquisition and installation of insulation and flooring. I was not happy with the fees for design services, which were for almost twice as many hours as I had told her I wanted to pay for, with no notice to me and little explanation of how they got so high. But this turned out to be a minor issue. Kitchen design and installation, the largest part of the project, was a disaster...still is, in fact.  The cabinetry not only arrived about two weeks later than was scheduled, but the measurement of one wall was so far off that my contractor had to move a double window 9 inches.  The cabinet that was supposed to go over the refrigerator is too tall to fit.  Two large drawers do not pull out smoothly when loaded with the pans they were planned for, and the drawers perpendicular to them cannot open because the measurements do not allow space for knobs.  AND...she ordered the wrong stain.  I asked for beech wood with a pecan stain, but received beech wood natural. When I informed her of this , she suggested that I might "live with the color awhile and see whether I liked it". She told me that this had happened because she didn't specify pecan or natural on the order and so it "defaulted" to natural.  This sounds unlikely to me, but even so, it was still her mistake.  However, she assured me that we would come up with some rectification. I even agreed to wait to rectify it, but I still owed her $3500 for counters.  I said I couldn't pay her that until the cabinets were dealt with, but she refused to install the counters until I had paid her in entirety.  While I was still trying to get her to sign an agreement that she would solve the cabinet stain issue "to my satisfaction," the installers templated for the counters. She didn't notice that they templated only the kitchen, not the bathroom, so they had to come again a week later.  By this point, the delays in cabinet arrival and templating had made everything so late that I could not even wait for the counters....I had renters coming in a week.  So my contractor installed plywood countertops with temporary drop-in sinks, and that is what I still have. I have been trying to settle these issues for nearly a year now, using a lawyer after conversation with her became impossible.  She doesn't take responsibility for her mistakes, or for rectifying them.  She hasn't even seen all the measurement issues, because she has never seen the kitchen since she made one trip part way through installation at my contractor's insistence.  She says that the two finishes are "indistinguishable to the naked eye."  Her settlement offers have never included getting  the color cabinets I ordered, paying for the needed temporary counters and sinks, or anything to do with the bad measurements.  I would not wish this company on anyone.

When we purchased the countertop we were never told by the vendor that we would have to use their fabricators and installers. They quoted us for this service, but got our own fabricator on our home remodel project. After 7 weeks, the vendor still did not deliver the countertop to our fabricator. When we tried to cancel our order for non-delivery, the vendor told us we could not do so as it was a custom order and their policy is not to refund. This vendor at no time during this purchase informed us we had to use their fabricator, no policy was ever given to us and there is nothing in writing on the invoice that declares this a custom order. We have a dispute with the credit card bank who has taken the charge off of our account, but the vendor is claiming this was a future service not yet delivered. This vendor told us our fabricator had to be "certified" to fabricate the countertop. So, our fabricator agreed to do so. The vendor told us falsely that our fabricator was not interested in becoming "certified". The vendor stated that no reimbursement will be made until they can sell the slab. So, they are holding our $3,000 for now, it has been 13 weeks since we purchased the slab and they are fighting our dispute with the bank. We further learned that this vendor was selling this countertop at more than twice the price of other vendors. Beware of the deceptive practices of this vendor.
Response from G Green Design Center
"RESPONSE from 'g' Green Design Center Though we regret the disappointment of this customer, they were of course advised that the fabrication was an integral part of the product sale. Most of our manufacturers of counter top materials (about 98%) control the means of fabrication so they can manage quality of production. The fabricator still has the counter and is awaiting the balance due to complete production and installation."
