Bortolotti Construction Inc

Paid $5000 deposit on building demolition quoted at $9990 on July 27, 2018. Bortolotti disconnected utilities. Estimator told me I had $3850 of my deposit remaining. Permitting delays occurred, in July of 2019 estimator told me new price was $12,250 and in Dec of 2019 I was told price was now $16,000!!! That’s a 60% increase in a year!! I told Bortolotti that I could not accept that increase and requested a return of my remaining deposit in Dec 2019. No return of my deposit despite repeated requests. No call back as I requested from the owner. No help whatsoever from office staff. I have copies of my cancelled check and all correspondence to confirm my comments. After 3 months I’m at wits end...absolutely no cooperation. They’ve simply taken my money for work not performed. I’ve found another contractor. I expect I’ll have to call the attorney general and go to small claims court. In 40 years on Cape Cod I’ve never seen a contractor act this way. Barnstable homeowner.
