Description of Work: Superior Exteriors worked on saving my barn. This was a very complicated task and at first the company did a fantastic job. Unfortunately, they got 80% of the way and left me high and dry. They never installed the custom windows and door, never removed the two piles of debris that the job produced and left my backyard and barn cellar littered with refuse, debris, and garbage. I gave them the benefit of the doubt due to the horrendous winter we suffered, but come spring, even after I contacted them repeatedly and they told me I was a "great customer, who had been more than patient", they were MIA in completing the contractually agreed upon tasks. Tasks, which I had, for the most part, already paid them. I would NOT RECOMMEND them to others, unless they would like to have a project only completed 80% of the way.

Tom is also on-site that day and answer all my questions. I didn't ask estimate from other contractors. But I believe that the quote Tom gave is in the range of this service. I will definitely call Tom if I need any service in the future.
Description of Work: They removed the old roof, put on a new roof, replaced the rotten trim, replaced two skylights and helped me select them.

 + -1 moreOur experience with Superior Exteriors was good. They provided very reasonable estimates to replace 38 windows and a roof. We opted not to go with the Harvey windows they install but we are looking to utilize Superior Exteriors to replace our roof next year.
Description of Work: We were looking to replace 38 windows and since Superior Exteriors also provides roof replacement, we were provided a very appealing estimate if we opted to do both. Our main focus was on replacement windows. Our current double pane window were installed in 1997 and are those with sliding storm windows and screens. We live on a lake and in winter when the wind blows, I've had to put the stick-on insulation strips to stop the breeze. We will consider Superior Exteriors to replace our roof next year. Superior Exteriors offers Harvey Windows. After many hours of researching and customer contacts, we opted out of Harvey in favor of Rite Windows. We interviewed both reps who brought a sample of their windows. We were more impressed by the professionalism and product offered by Rite Windows. We live in New England and Rite Window services the weather conditions specific to this area. The double pane window not only keeps out the cold, but has imbedded in it a reflective coating to keep out the heat. The rep for Rite Window brought with him a heat lamp. He went outside our current window and placed the heat lamp about 6 inches from our current double pane window and asked us if we could feel the heat. Yes, we could. He then did the same with his sample double pane window. We couldn't feel the heat at all with our hands against the pane. We will insist on performing the same heat lamp test with the windows supplied when they arrive for installation. The Rite Window folks came out and numbered and measured each window. They will be manufactured according to these specs. If those who did the measurements made an error, it comes out of their pay check. Good incentive methinks. From measurement to installation is 4-6 weeks. We are looking to have installation begin between 4/30 and 5/15. Also, be aware of lifetime warranties. Sometimes these warranties refer to the lifetime of the product which may be as little as 7 years. Rite Window offers a 50 year warranty. Be that true, the window will outlast me! We are hoping to see a decrease in both our heating and air conditioning bills. Only time will tell. Hope this was helpful.

When the work began, I was warmly greeted by Tom's manager Ben. Ben answered all my questions with a willing to please professional attitude. I would absolutely recommend this company to my friends!
Description of Work: My two flat roofs need to be redone. Tom gave me an estimate which was within a good range of the other estimates I had received. His crew came out when he said they would. I was greeted by Ben his project manager. When the work began there was a bit of rotted boards under the chimney. They repaired the work around the chimney and they did the rest of the roof as they stated in the contract. They cleaned up everything so there was no sign of any debris from the roof.

 + 1 moreIt went excellently. My money is a bit tight, so I took bids from multiple highly-rated contractors, and Superior Exteriors had the low bid. (One contractor was over 50% higher for vinyl.) Initially I was going to just do the siding (and do the roof a couple of years later), but--when we were signing the contract for the siding--Superior Exteriors offered a VERY good price on the roof if I did it at the same time. This was for a rental house. My tenants complimented the professionalism of the crew, who were always courteous, and would stop work to let tenants in or out. They also took good care not to make a mess in neighbors' yards nor to damage anything while working. Multiple neighbors have complimented how nice the finished house looks! In the contract was a provision to charge me more if they found bad wood underneath, but they reported no bad wood so I paid the regular price. A less honest contractor might have reported bad wood, since with me not there I probably wouldn't have caught that. At the end of the job I gave it a look over, found a couple of minor touch ups which needed to happen, and without complaint they came out right away and took care of it all. I hopefully won't need their services again on that building for a very, very long time, but their price and quality makes Superior Exteriors an excellent choice.
Description of Work: 3 family house in Somerville, MA. They stripped off the old siding (3 layers!) + roof shingles (2 layers) and put on new vinyl siding ("Main St." brand), new roof, and new gutters.

He went above and beyond especially when it came to fixing the exhaust pipe and broken shingles that weren't part of the job.
Description of Work: They removed the old roof, put on a new roof, replaced the skylights and helped me select them. He found and fixed an exhaust pipe that I didn't know was broken.

 + -1 moreThe guy who came out was very nice. He looked at all my windows and doors, most of which were fine energy-wise, but two of which needed serious help due to drafts (which was the main reason I purchased the deal). On the back door, he put some foam inside a crevice between the doorframe and wall and then a bunch of weather stripping around the inside of the frame. It was a challenge because it turned out the door was somewhat warped; in the end, the weather stripping made the door unusable for the season. For the front door, he couldn't do anything because there simply wasn't any place to put the stripping and still have the door functional. He gave it a shot, but it didn't work. This wasn't his fault, and he did give me some tips about which windows should be replaced, but not much more than that. True, I didn't need any roof advice, but I guess I was expecting some more creative solutions for my $250. I definitely got the feeling he wished he could do more, but there really wasn't anything else to do.

He did a very thorough inspection of my home, and came back a second time to apply weather stripping to the old front door. He explained his findings very clearly. I asked him to provide information on window and door replacement in the future - which I will certainly use him to do. He was extremely professional - I recommend him highly and will be using his services again!

The date to start had to be changed a couple of times because of poor weather, but because Tom made the effort to keep in touch, that wasn't a problem. Once they started, they worked from first thing in the morning until after dark. The workers were back the next morning to finish. A contractor friend looked at the work after it was done and remarked about the care they had taken in the roof valleys to do the work the right way. The cleanup was excellent. Tom was on the job on the first day to get everything started and called more than once after to make sure that we were satisfied with the work. I have nothing but good things to say about this company and would hire them back in a minute.
Description of Work: Tom removed the old roofing, put down rubber backing and paper, and put a new shingle roof on our house. He also recommended a great mason to replace our chimney.

 + 0 moreTom and his crew were punctual, courteous, hard working and did a great job. The finished wall looks great and thanks to his suggestion to use pre-primed shingles, we don't have to worry about painting it right away. There was some delay, due, it seems, to slow response from the insulation company, but otherwise they were efficient. I hate 'add on' aspects of a job (discovered after the project cost has been agreed upon) but Tom was flexible in pricing the window sills that really needed to be done, which made the surprise a little easier to take.
Description of Work: Replaced cedar shingles on one (large) side of a 1923 three-decker that had been exposed to direct weather and was falling apart. Stripped old shingles, used Tyvek to assure water resistance, rebuilt the wood framing around all windows, added PVC sills. Maybe the most challenging was coordinating with an insulation company to complete insulation on the third floor level, but Superior Exteriors allowed the insulation guys to use their scaffolding.

 + -1 moreBecause of the size of the roof, Tom was actually recommended from one his competitors because of the short-time frame to do the work and the fact that it would cost closer to 20,000.00 if we went with him because of the need to bring in his best crew and his higher overhead costs. Because I had really trusted the competitor's opinion, when he suggested I hire Tom, it was an easy decision. The project went smoothly. Even with incredible high temperatures, my family travel and an additional unforeseeable event, Tom was able to install the roof and then come back a few weeks later to complete the final punch list. Because he is available by cell and text messaging at all times, I felt confident the roof would be completed to my satisfaction and it was. Regarding the incidentals like gutters. Tom's crew did such a nice job reinstalling the gutters after the job was 95% complete that when a local gutter company came out to price the job of replacing them, he asked, "what is the problem." It was only then that we realized Tom's crew had taken time to reattach them after being damaged from storms last winter and when they were nearing completion of the project. I liked and respected Tom very much. I hope I do not need a roof for 20 plus years, but would absolutely contact him if we do.
Description of Work: Tom's crew replaced a damaged and old roof on our home. The workmanship was very good and the few "punch list" items were repaired. In fact, for one punch list item, two members of the crew removed a large section (per Tom's decision) to make sure a small area that had a jagged edge was repaired beautifully and seamlessly. Tom was available at all times to answer questions and respond to concerns. He was always friendly and never hesitated to make even the smallest corrections necessary.

 + 0 moreThe roofing work went OK, but the gutter work was a disaster. Besides the fact that it took forever for them to return my calls, the initial estimate was given based on their dealing with a number of different issues. It tuned out that they didn't know how to resolve one of the problems (didn't tell me that at the start), so besides paying for work that wasn't done, I had to get someone else to complete the job. I asked them for reimbursement for that amount, which they refused (I eventually withheld it). To top it all off, the work was done poorly and someone else had to come straighten it out. Stay away from these guys.

 + -1 moreThey did a fair job on the roof. In the process of replacing the roof they took off our gutter screens and never replaced them. After over a year of contacting them they finally came back to replace the screens. We called, spoke directly with them, they said they would come back and then didn't. We left them messages, emailed them, etc. VERY unresponsive, which is unfortunate because they came highly recommended. They did however do a good job with the roof itself, in a very tight location and their clean up was very good.

 + -1 moreContacted Tom, to let him know that I needed a roof and vent. He was able to come by my house without needing me there to check things out to give me an estimate. He gave me a quote, and noted that it could be higher based on how much underneath wood needed to be replaced (he gave me a set price per square foot used). He also assured me the job would be done in one day. Which it was. I went with this company mostly because of that one day timeline. His crew did an excellent job on the roof that I am very happy with. They also did a very thorough clean up job. The overall price was consistent with what he quoted me. I would use this company again.

The roofing crew completely cleaned up at the end of the job, but there wasn't much to clean because they were such neat workers and cleaned up as the job progressed. My wife and I were thrilled with the quality of work, the punctuallity of Tom and the crew, the price, and the professionalism.and knowledge displayed by Tom. We had interviewed 5 different roofing companies prior to Superior Exteriors and were surprised at the range of prices. After talking with all the roofing companies, and doing my own research, I learned a little bit about what makes a good roofing installation. After Interviewing Tom, I realized that he really knows his stuff and we felt very comfortable when we chose him for the job. We were really impressed with Superor Exteriors and highly recommend them. If you want a clean, quality job, on time and at a very reasonable price, call Tom at Superior Exteriors.
Description of Work: Superior Exteriors did a complete teardown and installed new architechural shingles on my 1500 square foot 2nd floor, peak roof. They installed 6 feet of ice & water underlayment, a ridge vent and flashing. and replaced some of the roof sheathing. I have 2 chimneys and one needed to be torn down and rebuilt. Tom arranged for a mason to completely rebuild the chimney to match the other one, at a great price..

 + -1 moreTom was able to come by while I was away to have a look at the property and give me an estimate by e-mail. It took me a while to get back to him as I was traveling, but once I agreed to have him do the work, we set-up a date for the work. The date then got pushed out by one day (no problem), then there was rain in the forecast, so it was moved out one more day (understandable). But then, he didn't show up, no e-mail or call. Three days later, I e-mailed asking for a new date (rain is a bad thing when your gutters are full of leaves). He said he'd have it done by the following week, but again nothing. After a couple of additional missed dates, he finally made a same day appt and came out to do the work. The gutter installation looked great, i'm very happy with it. The cleaning was well done, but there was a lot of debris that hadn't been cleaned up. It took an hour for me to clean it up. However, Tom made good on this and deducted this from the total. Overall, i'm happy with the work, but I wish that he had hit his commitments on the dates and ensured that proper cleanup was done right the first time.

 + -1 moreTom came out to look the job over. He came when he promised, even calling a few minutes before to give me a heads up that he was a few minutes away. He was knowledgeable and courteous, and promised to have my leaking roof fixed by the weekend, even though it was a holiday weekend. The crew came at the agreed-upon time. The crew worked hard even though it was a hot day. They were done even before they had predicted and left the roof and surrounding area immaculate. I wouldn't hesitate to call again if another roof needs work.
