"[removed member name], I apologize you feel this way. We completed the job we were hired for and you expressed your appreciation of a job well done. Your window request came after the completion of the initial job. We tried to reach you on several occasions with no luck. I understand you are living out of the country, which has made it even more difficult to reach you. We are happy to return and install windows for you. Please feel free to contact the office at your earliest convenience to rectify this mis-communication. Best, Tom"

"Good Morning: I just want to introduce myself. I am the regional sales manager. I noticed that you just recently reviewed us for work that was done in 2012. Can I ask what the issues were. I would love to be able to address them and see if I can help resolve them. Thank you for your time and I look forward hearing back from you."

Ice dams were treated at my home; however, enough remained of them to cause leaking within the week of service. I called the company several times and left messages with the office manager; however, my calls were not returned for 2-3 days. Ultimately, my last call to the company was on February 27th. At that time, I explained that I still had leaking due to ice dams on my roof. I explained that I was not comfortable paying Superior Exteriors while the ice dam problem still existed. The office manager said "Oh, I'll have to talk to Tom and get back to you." Eleven days later, the President of the company, Tom, called me to discuss my situation. While I can appreciate the amount of work any roofing company had this past winter, I cannot accept an eleven-day wait to get a return phone call from a company. The President of the company came to the defense of the office manager, stating she received so many calls, she was completely 'overwhelmed.' I'm not sure why temporary help wasn't hired to help with peak customer demands.

"[member name removed], We are sorry you feel this way we tried everything to accommodate your needs and to get out to your house in the blizzard as one of the first few jobs we did, We understand that the ball drop with communication after the job was complete when you wanted us to pick up payment so we tried to give you a discount to make up for that. You have to understand that this season snow fall was unprecedented and everyone in the industry was running in 50 million directions. We apologize for the inconvenience and hoped the discount was sufficient. Thank you Nikki & Tom"

His cost was in-line with others. The work was to be soffits and roof.  We made a date and the communication all along was not very good.  I never saw the person who sold me the work again and never saw a project manager.  There was a language barrier with the crew. They were there on-time.  I didn't have anyone who I could talk with. I also told them to be careful with the landscaping on either side of the house and they were throwing roofing material down onto the landscaping.  The soffits work was done pretty professionally but the roofing work was "Helter Skelter." The chimney liner was done professionally as well.  At no point did I have a face to face conversation with the person who sold me the work, the owner, until he came for the check. The carpenters who came up to put the soffits back up did a good job.  Nail clean up was average; I did find some nails in my yard.

We were supposed to have the roof replaced and a vent put in.  The first several times we were trying to schedule, couldn't happen for one reason or another.  The day of the work, the wrong shingles were delivered, so it started about 6 hours late.  We were told it would be fully cleaned, but found shingles and nails for a couple weeks after.  Lastly, a piece of the siding was knocked off during installation, and though we have been told several times it would be replaced, it still (6 months later) has not been.  I did think they were very nice to deal with, and some of the delays were legitimate.  If the siding had been replaced, or at least a response to the several emails (went all the way up the chain of command), I would have been much happier, and hence the delay in my review.

Tom and his crew replaced the roof on my uncle's house in Provincetown. The job was more involved than originally estimated.  There was a lot of rotted wood under the top layer of roof.  They cleaned  the rot and replaced the timbers and finished the roof.  Tom was in contact with me throughout the job letting me know of changes and showing me pictures since I was managing this job from afar.  I thought the price changes were fair and the quality was excellent.  As far as contractors go, Tom has been pretty responsive.  I also found his wife Nikki very helpful and pleasant regarding billing.  I will use Superior Exteriors again.

They came early in the morning and performed the job in one day.  They removed the old roof and replaced it.  The crew was very professional and quick.  They payed a lot of attention to detail. They thoroughly cleaned up the area after the work was done.  The office staff was great to work with and emphasized the importance of  "customer service."  The price was reasonable for this project also.  I am very satisfied with the entire experience and would recommend them highly to other people.

Superior Exteriors provided a very detailed estimate and was able to begin work quickly. They tackled the entire job in one day from beginning to end.  After they finished and left, I felt that there was still too much debris in my flower beds and on my sidewalk.  They sent someone out first thing the next morning to thoroughly clean and they did not leave until I had fully inspected and was satisfied.  Had they used more tarps, the cleanup would likely have been easier, but they were willing to do the work necessary to make it right.  I was impressed by their responsiveness. I recommended them to my neighbor and she had her entire roof replaced as well and is satisfied with the work.  All in all, I think Superior excels at customer service and communication.

I contacted this provider ahead of buying a big deal special for an estimate. They are priced very fairly and completed a huge job quickly and to great quality standards. They had just hired an administrative professional, who was lovely to deal with, but there was a little bit of a learning curve in terms of what the contract constituted, scheduling, etc. I would advise anyone to get a clear contract with dates, deliverables, etc. up front to avoid any miscommunication and save everyone some time. However we are extremely happy with the quality of the work, the price, and the clear pride these professionals take in their business.

We discovered Superior Exteriors via an Angies List Big Deal offer. They came out to  give a quote, and showed up more or less on time for the quote. They walked us through the options, and the quote was in my email inbox before they left. Their price was lower than any other we had obtained, and they offered to  beat any others. Based on their reviews on Angies List, we had them at the top of the list. We waited about five months before scheduling the job - when I contacted them, they were very efficient in scheduling a date, arranging the contracts and deposits by email. Leading up to the day of the job, they were in regular contact and let us know what to expect. The day of the job they showed up promptly, and finished in 1.5 days. The cleanup was so-so (I found some nails and debris in the yard), and when I mentioned it to them, they came right out and went over the yard again. They were very responsive and the experience was so positive that we'll definitely have them out to give a quote when we need the siding redone!

We needed our roof, gutters, shutters and front porch replaced as well as replacing wood shingles with siding on our entire house.  Our experience with Superior Exteriors was extremely positive from the initial consultation through the installation of all products.  During the consultation Peter listened to our needs and made additional helpful suggestions.  The crew arrived daily at 7:30AM and were very professional ensuring the install went smoothly and all debris was cleared up and put in the dumpster daily.  Dave was very helpful and made sure that a necessitated color change with the shutters was reviewed with us prior to doing the work.

We had a great experience with Superior Exteriors. They did the gutters at my neighbor's house, and re-roofed another of her properties, so when I saw the deal pop up I was confident that I could trust the work. I called to inquire about the deal and Nikki in the office was very helpful. She scheduled an evaluation for the same week, so they could give us an estimate. Tom arrived on time for the estimate and was very knowledgeable and patient explaining what our options were. He ordered an aerial report which we got to keep a copy of-- very helpful. And this was before we had even signed off on the job!
On the day the job was scheduled to start there were threats of heavy rain. Despite this, the team was on site early in case there was an opportunity to start. However, the heavy rains pushed the work back to the next day. They began work at 7am and worked for the next 15 hours to take advantage of the clear weather! The house was nearly finished in one day, with the remainder and the garage on second day, all in time for the next big rain storm. We are very pleased with the work, and with the follow-up; both Tom and the foreman Ralph have been in touch since finishing to make sure we were satisfied with the work. I would definitely recommend them, and plan to use them when we replace our windows in the next year or two.

Unfortunately, my experience with Superior Exteriors has not been a positive one. The grade is due to poor responsiveness to emails and phone calls, as well as their failure to adequately fix a problem they caused through their installation. Here?s the story: Superior installed a new roof in September 2012 at a cost of $9774, which was more than another quote I received but I went with them because they were in Angie?s List and the other company wasn?t. For the most part the job seemed to go well, except for some minor damage to a couple of pieces of clapboard caused by debris from the roof. When I pointed this out to them they replaced the worst instance with a spare piece of clapboard I had.  Then during the winter I started noticing very bad frost in the attic (attaching to plywood sheathing and to the roof nails), the like of which I hadn?t seen in the twenty years we owned our house. Since the roofing job was the only structural change that had occurred, I emailed Tom Donovan of Superior with a picture of the frost asking for his opinion on what might be causing the problem. Tom replied the next day that he was out of town and would call me when he returned in two days. Five days later I still hadn?t heard from him so I sent a reminder email. He replied two days later asking if I?d be in the next day. I replied yes. I never heard back from him. At this point I gave up out of frustration, and because I couldn?t point to anything specific that might be causing the problem. Then early in June I started noticing very high temperatures in the attic (high 120s), higher than I had seen before. This prompted me to get up on a ladder to check the attic ventilation. What I discovered shocked me.  For proper ventilation attics need balanced air intake vents (usually at the base of the roof) and outflow vents (usually at the top such as ridge vents). For intake vents, our house had what are called ?drip edge vents?, which are continuous vented openings at the base of the roof above the gutter.  What happened was that the roofers ripped these out, but did not replace them. Instead, they covered the opening with a solid strip, effectively blocking the air intake we had.  It seemed obvious to me that this is what was causing the frost and temperature problems. I immediately emailed Tom explaining what I found and that I expected Superior to fix the problem. Two days later I hadn?t heard back from him so I tried calling, but got an answering machine message from the Operations Manager Nikki. By the next day I hadn?t heard back from Nikki so I emailed her a copy of the earlier email to Tom asking for a reply ASAP. Nikki replied the next day (Friday) saying Tom would come out on Monday at an agreed upon time (he was over an hour late). Tom said they couldn?t replace the drip edge vents because of the way the roof job had been done, but they would put vents into the soffit that would solve the problem. Roofers showed up later that day and installed two inch round ?mini-louvers? spaced 32 inches apart. I was skeptical such small vents would provide adequate air intake compared to what we had had but decided to see how well they worked. After a week of monitoring temperature and humidity I realized my attic readings were just as bad as they had been before for comparable external temperatures. I emailed Tom copying Nikki letting them know and that I still expected them to fix the problem. I also mentioned a study on attic ventilation I found online that said that mini-louvers did not usually provide adequate attic air intake and noted that my neighbors? soffit vents were much larger rectangular vents (I later used a formula for determining the right level of attic ventilation that indicated that the number of two inch louvers they used was not sufficient for my attic space by a considerable margin). Tom?s reply was that the mini-louvers were ?more than sufficient? and that I couldn?t expect them to ?act as an air conditioner?.  However, given that the purpose of attic ventilation in the summer is to reduce attic temperatures, I couldn?t understand why Tom seemed to be arguing that properly working intake vents wouldn?t necessarily lower attic temperatures. It seemed obvious to me that any proper fix would need to lower temperatures. However, additionally, he did say that they could put in an attic fan if I didn?t feel comfortable with the fix. I replied asking him to send me some information about the type of fan they?d be putting in. Three days later I hadn?t heard back from him so I sent a reminder copying Nikki. I?m writing this nine days after the reminder and still haven?t heard back.

I called Superior Exteriors in response to an Angies List deal for a roof teardown and replacement. My initial email wasn't picked up; however, when calling, I recieved call back from Nikki the office manager and she was a joy to work with.  I explained my roof situation and requested a quote.   The owner stopped by my house to later that week to give me an estimate although I could not be home to meet him.   NIkki assured me I was eligible for the deal and had Tom provide a very handy quote I could accept online. Once I accepted, I called back to confim color and an install date.
When the install date came, my wife said a team decended on the house and got right to work just before 8:00AM. There were some questions that the supervisor Dave wanted to ask me about.  I had good amount of decking that needed replacement but the price was reasonable.   I mentioned some additional items I'd like to have them look at and he gave me very solid advice and ways I could save money on additional improvements. The roofing job was completed within the same day and I was very impressed by the cleanup the crew did. There wasn't a nail or anything left behind. The quality of the job is excellent and what looks like to be a lifetime roof. There were a couple of areas of concern; however, Dave was very reassuring and wanted to make sure I was delighted with the job.
So far, I am delighted and this is probably the best experience I've had with any contractor, ever.  They were timely, professional, very frienldy and truly care about their customers and quality of work.   I will gladly use them again for future projects and will highly recommend them to friends.

I had the vinyl siding completed on my house this past fall and was very pleased with the service I received from Superior Exterior. Tom walked the house with me and reviewed every detail of the job. He even had me think about how future projects (putting a sliding door off the deck) would affect the vinyl so I could make better decisions. I was in the process of having a deck put on and was a little nervous about it getting messed up but Tom reassured me they would be very careful and would clean the site when he was done. Also, I was to have some electrical work done to move a motion light on the back door but was unable to get the electrician in time before the job was done. Tom told me he would come back after the light was moved and fix the siding later. So I called Tom just the other day and he remembered the offer and was more than happy to come out and make good on his word - how refreshing!
the men who did the work worked very hard and were very professional - an excellent experience all around.
the best part.. the siding survived this past winter! now that's something!

They came and did a quick energy audit.  They did fix a few things.  One thing they did was insulate my front door and it was really terrific.  They installed something around the perimeter of the door, but also put something new on the bottom that really helped. I would definitely recommend him.  What he did was very good.

My wife and I hired Super Exterior to replace our roof. We dealt with Tom Donovan and his partner Ben. They notified us that 3/4 of the roof is old but 1/4 is actually new so we let them do an entirely new roof on the old 3/4 part which amounted to removing all the old shingles, replacing ledger board then installing new shingles. The roof was done during the summer so it was hot and for safety of their workers, it took 2 days rather than 1. We were happy with the results and the work they did and clean up as well.
However.....that all changed once Tom seemed to be more distant from the day to day activities and another person named Michael Doolin who is either now a new partner or running operations. Michael has caused us tremendous amount of trouble and grief. We started noticing a leak in the roof one one side of the house near the back as there were water stains on the ceiling of the 2nd floor and contacted Superior Exteriors in which Michael was the one responding.  We contacted him and Tom multiple times via email October, November, December 2012 in which Michael said repeatedly he could come out to take a look at what was going on but never did. Everytime it rained things got worse and so in late December, about 4 ft x 4 ft of ceiling from the 2nd floor fell and water leaked into the ceiling of the 1st floor which has gotten saggy, yellow/brown and needs to be replaced. We got quotes from contractors who stated the damage will be roughly $2,000 to take down a big piece of the ceiling on the 2nd and 1st floor, add new insulation as the insulation has become soaked and may grow mold from all the other junk that got mixed in, put up new sheet rock, mud and tape, prime and paint the ceiling. If Superior Exteriors had just been straight forward with us from the beginning they were NOT going to help us then at least we could have moved on to find another roofing company to help us. We thought they were great at first but now, VERY TERRIBLE. Once the job is done, they don't give a SH*T about you.
We are now speaking with a few different attorneys to help with our situation as we are planning to file a complaint for negligence and breach of contract as they clearly told us they could help us and we have email trails of them (Michael mainly) stating they would come out to our house but kept delaying and we to keep emailing and calling to reschedule for over 3 months!!! How ridiculous is that? The last email sent was on December 28, 2013 and yet NOT reply at all! What kind of company hides from their customers? My in-laws are purchasing a new home and may need a new roof but we sure as heck are going to make sure they stay away from Superior Exteriors. We see Michael Doolin online in his gmail account since we also have gmail and he is clearly available yet he ignores our emails all together. Hopefully we will have a good case to win against them once we file the complaint to cover not only the damages to our ceilings (would have never happened if they took care of the leak or told us early on they wouldn't help us, so that we could have gotten it fixed right away), attorney fees and roof. One attorney mentioned me may be able to seek treble (lawyer language for triple damages).  We will also be filing a complaint with the better business bureau, although we've been told that the BBB only serves more as a messenger to try and help resolve the issue and many people don't often check BBB when evaluating a company.
So, with this said, hopefully other people do not get fooled into using Superior Exterior simply because they have an A rating on Angie's list, if you ever come across problems...good luck because you're on your own! It's unfortunate we had to write our first negative review on angie's list and was hesitant to do so but we were so frustrated with this company and realized that other people may also end up getting screwed and treated like crap after paying them thousands of dollars.
