We would not recommend Dick under any circumstances. We hired him to redesign the layout of our first floor and paid the $1500 retainer he requested. Upon signing a contract, he promised to present several of his own ideas to us. After a 2 hour meeting at the house, a few phone conversations and a couple of design layouts it was clear that he was only drafting up our ideas. We asked several times for his ideas but he did not present anything. In addition, he was very bad about returning phone calls and emails. We decided that he wasn't right for our project and asked for a refund of our retainer that was not used. We had a disagreement on the number of hours he spent (he billed for his Sales visit prior to our signing the contract and also for a day he admitted to not working). If all of the other hours charged were accurate our calculations showed there was over $500 of the retainer remaining. His own inflated calculations showed there was almost $200 remaining. The dispute about the hours didn't really matter because he refused to give back any money, saying that the retainer was his to keep. We reported him to the Better Business Bureau. They asked for his side of the story and he didn't even reply.
